They need to put this back on their set list! Maybe instead of Stick it Out on the next Tour (This summer!) put in Nobody's Hero? It is my favorite Rush song!
@mreyno02 No need to say you know it's Rush, i don't like it either. I like Rush very much, but i'm not stupid enough to foce myself to appreciate everythng they do.

@okwhip anyone who really loves and appreciates good musicianship cannot help but love Rush, also those who love intelligent and meaningful lyrics that do not just simply talk about sex, drugs and rock and roll also listen to Rush for hours on end like i do and always have since the 70's.
this is the kind of music I'd picture hippies listening to XD. But ithis if definitely music I can respect. It speaks sense :). Unlike most other trash nowadays.
Ever notice the same understanding that Rush fans have? I mean it transcends anything logical but EVERY Rush fan I've ever talked to has the same "thing". I can't understand it or explain it. It's sort of like being told a secret that only a few people know or maybe it's just an awakening of some sorts. I was born with music in my blood and I like SEVERAL bands but there is just something about Rush that is so satisfying! LONG LIVE RUSH!!
everyone seems to have a rush story. . . He was a substitute teacher at my school in 1983. . . I met Geddy in a bar and he was a prick. . . I play in Geddy's son's baseball league. . . I don't have a Rush story of my own but I wish I did.
@MrDdrummon Hey I have a Rush story. I was actually a member of Rush back in about 1971. You see, I'm Alex Lifeson's 3rd cousin twice removed. When I was 8, I begged Cousin Alex to let me play the conga drum in his band. He talked Geddy into it, because they didn't have a drummer yet. They had started writing songs during this time, and I distinctly recall suggesting to Geddy, who was hard up for ideas, the title, "Buddy's Nobody's Hero" because it sounded funny to me. I was voted out.
@selatik1 Years later, as a family man, I heard the new Rush song, "Nobody's Hero", and flew into an indignant rage. 20 years later, Geddy had finally realized the truth of my prodigious genius. So, I sued. Geddy called me, and asked how much I wanted to settle out of court and keep it quiet. I said, "Geddy, how 'bout you let me set up my congas next to Neil for a few concert engagements?" "No dice.", came the reply. So I settled for a couple hundred bucks.
To Oua8, I guess Van Halen gets your rocks off more than Rush, whatever, you are pompous for badgering guys that are obviously much more talented than you are...you are easily forgettable, and probably not a favorite of the ladies...
@snowfox100 you speak volumes!!!! those of us who understand the depth of Neil's lyrics and words makes it just that much more awesome to listen to them for hours on end as i have been doing for almost 30 some years!!!!
@BLUESMANRONCHICAGO If you take the time to truly listen to the songs, you will consistantly find an underlying theme every time. I have been listening to them for close to 30 years and there are so many times that I find new and insightful meanings to their songs...they truly are world class musicians and always will be.
@truckie449 yeah, i do, have been listening to rush since 1977,Xanadu reminds me of movie The Lost Horizon, the story about Shangrila, Witch Hunt which talks aobut prejudice and the moral majority, the Manhattan Project, which tells the story of the beginning of the atomic age, and one of my favorites, Show Don't Tell, which talks about how people these days have lost a lot of faith and trust in their fellow men.
Who ever tagged Neil Peart as the world's 2nd worst lyricist must have an IQ of less than 2012 added together. In my opinion he is one of the best. Unlock the key to the universe dudes stand at the gateway as the RUSH symbol represents, then go through. Time is of the essence. Cheers!!
couldn't agree more atomicsith, (what's wrong with these people who can't appreciate the gift that RUSH give us with each album and performance and can only justify their pitiful existance with criticism?) thanks to the bootlegger by the way, haven't heard this live before now and as usual i ain't dissapointed one bit!!
@0ua8 lol "forgettable" - oh yeah sure they don't "make sense" they're CODED don't you see? You have to crack the code LOL!!! And you can't crack the Peart code if you're listening to bands that play primarily the E chord all the time!!!! (sarcasm)
@audio1358 I was wrong sir.But...Counterparts is really only half an album.I think Rush get bored with the studio process very quickly. Also It was a transitional record from the embers of Presto, which to me echoed a moribund studio way of recording individually and not as a band.BTW only Rush can chart with a song in Gm the most darkest/gloomy key to play in.
yeah neil peart was number 2 on worst lyricist of all time (sting being #1) which bullshit because i think he is one of the best. some people just dont understand the lyrics, they take it too literally instead of metaphorically... RUSH= #1 canadian band ever
I was talking to my uncle during Christmas about how i got into Rush and loved them and he said i stopped listening to them after they had a song about queers. i said het real listen to the song the whole song isn't about gay people. it's true it's a very deep song
Neil peart's lyrics are so underrated.....I think they are often overlooked and not appreciated enough......He is so perfect on the lyrics.....he should get a pultzer prize. I like the acoustic guitar in this song.........
favorite song! found it on retrospective 3 that i won from a local radio station... Great vid. The song seems kinda empty without the first solo. Its understandable why he didnt play it though, he wouldnt need to make a quick switch between guitars, but he could have triggered it or something.
VERY well done. One of my favorite Rush songs ever. I've seen them several times live, and it has ALWAYS been a wonderful experience. Geddy Lee is an incredible bassist. I love this song mainly because it deals with things no other band would openly write a song about.
