@Keksoe666 characters talk about a movie with Steve McQueen. This is about "Man from the South", from the TV show "Alfred Hitchcock Presents". Peter Lorre attach Steve McQueen's hand to the block of wood with nails and bowl of twine. And then, if the lighter doesn't light, McQueen can't take back his hand. But in the Tarantino's sketch, characters are drunk, and so unaware of the severity of their stupid bet. So they don't need it, even if they ask that to Ted.

I just hate one thing about this scene at the beginning. Quentin gives a drink to Ted, and then he should to look at the camera as the camera was Ted, instead he's looking little bit at camera,little bit at Ted (who is obviously standing next to camera)

@anchicam It's a complex shot....Tarantino was never a professional actor, so his instinct as director here comes through more....he wants Ted to stay in character and respond in kind when necessary. If you notice, Tim Roth has timing problems 'catching' up with Quentin when the camera swings around. I've always thought this scene was great no matter what really. As the man says himself...thoroughness is always second to promptness.

The bit where Tim Roth is picking up the items from the tray is weird. The way Roth speaks is even weirder, he's British but he doesn't have to do a totally posh accent. Tarantino's an awesome actor, he's himself and is just fucking hilarious. And Bruce Willis is a bit too over the top violent over a small matter... BUT HEY who am I to judge this scene when I've only seen this clip once.
