This was the Man who first combined Opera and Rock back in the late 70s and 80s. Unfortunately He is no longer with us, but much to him it is owned ... Klaus Nomi Rest in Peace. You were and still are a TRUE STAR.
im not kidding right now. I prefer Klaus nomi's version of this song rather than sir elvis preslys'. He was great artist, who did an amazing job, but Klaus Nomis version is more sentative and emotional in my opion. No one beats elvis presley but claus nomi lies cloes to him. Unfortunaly we lost two great big artists, who gave it all to the audience
No matter what range of his amazing voice he uses, I am so touched. My younger brother died recently, and I'm having a hard time with it. I am so sad for Klaus Nomi's premature death, yet nothing has comforted me like his music.
WOW, what a beautiful voice!...his vocals touch something deep inside of me...my whole body and most of all my chest is vibrating with him when he sings this song....as well as all his songs, btw Thanx for posting!

@abrazzo11 Come on, man, I was just joking! About SS's, not about Nomi, he he. I really don't like him at all, and I believe he completely destroyed this song.
Those of you who are intrigued by Nomi's range (and also of course his unique and strange presentation) may enjoy Peru's famous Yma Sumac. Her range was over four octaves, and she often employed many strange vocal effects as well, from deep growls to a bizarre double voice. Her performance "Chruncho" is an excellent sample of her range and style.
It's unbelievable how he can sing with this deep resonant voice and still utter those heavenly operatic sounds! What a range indeed! He brings a whole new beauty to this song.. "I - can't - help - falling - in - love - with - him!" Sorry, I know it's corny but I had to say it! I love him! I love Klaus!
I'm sorry, but Klaus blows Elvis out of the water.

I was just thinking of Klaus and discovered this track. I wonder how many weddings this has been played at?
Ah, Klaus...you left us too soon, but you showed us the way...

His accent scares me, it sounds like an SS officer speaking English... he he. Nothing against German people, whom I love!

Ich hab noch nie einen SS-Mann englisch reden hören... Durften die das überhaupt, ohne Gefahr laufen, erschossen zu werden?

Ooops! Sorry about the typo, the song is "Chuncho". :D

I kind of like his lower range. His higher just sounds like falsetto to me.
Seanbo88 2 years ago
@Seanbo88
I think it infact *is* falsetto, no?
normloman 2 years ago 2
Hah, no you're right. What I meant was only using falsetto doesn't impress me as much as using your whole range.
Seanbo88 2 years ago
For instance, I'd like to hear him belt those high notes instead of just going falsetto.

So sad that the world lost such a beautiful talent so early. At least he left us a body of work that rivals many "stars"
