  • smooth touchdown nice....

  • What is the nominal wing span and nose to tail length? What material for the ribs too? I am planning on building one out of tubular aluminum pipes and a 10hp Yamaha engine. Any advice?

  • Do you need a license to fly one of these? Can you take off and fly anywhere or do you have to use an airport?

  • ho my word

  • Дааааааааа!!!!!! скоро и я так буду парить!)))) да !!!! Оно того стоит !!! жизнь стоит ЭТОГО !

  • SUPER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • beautiful moments in life

  • @MrGiorgoulis It sure is. I love to get away from the ties of earth and fly when the air is smooth.

  • how much its the price ?

  • @coycoy75basualdo An ultralight trike will cost you about 12k USD brand new. You can see used ones on Barnstormer's website.

  • Inspirational...

  • do you need a license to fly one of these?

  • @venator1994 Not in the United States.

  • @wrdturkey engine power and capacity?

    and whole unit cost?

  • @SuperAaaaa123456 30hp Kawasaki engine. The Sabre trike isn't made anymore. You can check out a similar ultralight trike on Northwing's site. Northwing . com.

  • This video made me cry. I love it.

  • So awesome. My dad n I have always wanted to do this. Cool video.

  • I've found a new purpose in my life: I want one of those.

  • @BandytaCzasu Time to get started. Don't wait until you are too old and wish you had.

  • How far can you fly on a tank of gas?

  • @B0Bboats About 2 hours, flying at 35 mph. Distance over the ground depends on which way the wind is blowing. Thanks for watching.

  • @wrdturkey u left me without words man! so simple and beautiful.. im making one myself and thought of checking out utube.... u my man are a genius... one quick question thats buggin me.. do u think an 8 hp engine will sufice? its a motorcycles engine yamaha 125 cc.. i like the speeds change lol u... u left me wordless man!! good job!!

  • @chechita14 Wow!!! 8 hp? I don't know if that will do. The smallest I've seen is 16 hp. That is on my mini trike. I guess it depends on how light you build it and how much you weigh. Good luck on your project.

  • beautiful scenery beautiful music from bern. prince edward island canada

  • So its basically a glider wing mounted to a seat, an engine, and some wheels?

  • @wettfeat Yep. It's called an ultralight trike. You could even call it a powered hang glider. Thanks for watching.

  • @wrdturkey where can one get a vertical boom and henry swivel point?

  • where is your throttle control exactly? And what do they charge for flight instruction, or just a little trip up in the heavens? How many hours or flights with instructor does it usually take on average before a solo can be done? and i know it depends on the person learning, but just on average if you know?

  • @Quick2000 I have a foot throttle and a hand throttle. I don't know what they charge for instruction, but it will take a minimum of 20 hours for your Sports Pilot license and a little less to fly an ultralight like mine. You can Google 'ultralight trike instruction' to find out more on schools. There are 2 ultralight pilots that I know who recently started flying. They were flying - one with 7 hours and one with 10 hours.

  • @wrdturkey How many hours do you think it would take for someone with a pilot's license to get used to it? I have about 120 hours in a Cessna 172 but this looks like way more fun!

  • @jallenmorris1 I'm guessing about 10 hours, but it depends on how well you do. Some people catch on really quick. Others don't.

  • Guess you were slowing the engine down about 5 min. mark, since you were not moving the wing at all, in order to come down

  • @Quick2000 Sure was. Pulling the control bar in will bring you down, but is mainly for controlling speed. Pulling the control bar in (lowering the wing's nose) speeds the wing up. Pushing the bar out (raising the wing's nose) will make you go up, but you are actually slowing the speed of the wing down. Engine power is the main factor for ascending and descending. Thanks for watching.

  • i wish i had that for myself. that would be so freakin awesome

  • wrdturkey you have always been my inspiration, I love your videos, your sabre trike is simple, yet graceful. I have for the first time attempted to make a video titled "Rizzy's Relaxing Flight" with relaxing music. I hope you will watch it and give me your recommendations and suggestions :)

  • 6 people have a pickle in their ass.

  • was it scary the first time u flew it?

  • @tailsfordinner It still is :o)

  • Lovely Song! Nice Fly too

  • @Spare14All Thank you :o)

  • any idea of a unit cost?

  • @shorty93610 Google northwing trikes. They have two that are ultralight legal.

  • Your videos are really fun to watch. The music in this one is beautiful. This kind of flying looks so personal. I have to do this. And I think this looks like exactly what I would want for a setup. Pusher prop behind you, no fairing or windshield, seated with the wing control bar right in your hands. As direct, comfortable and unobstructed as you can be. You make it look so easy. Thanks for posting!

  • @WildBillTurkey And thank you for the nice complements and watching my video. I'm working on another video, but it doesn't have music. I'll post it later this week.

  • Very very good congratulations

  • Do you have to keep your engine running to keep in the air?

  • @Stillz9454 Check out my video "Deadstick Landing".

  • flying car

  • Beautiful. My kinda guy.

  • Brill. !!

  • musical sound and your flight are nice matched for feeling spirit of flying.thanks for sharing

  • You sir, gave me something to live for.

  • @DJSexLeopard You are welcome. Get started soon. Life is shorter than people think.

  • @wrdturkey I see that now. It feels like yesterday I was 17 and I wake up and today Im 27. Tomorrow I might be 50 years old and have done nothing in life.

  • @DJSexLeopard Over the top

  • Fantástico! lindo! bela musica.

  • @Emakurden It's a 340 Kawasaki engine. Sorry I don't have the specs for my trike. I bought it "ready to fly" brand new.

  • I LOVE THIS video! A Statement for freedom , I have played it loads of times, not only a good song but a great flying vid too! Thank you so much for uploading it,it makes me smile muchloveflipperxx

  • @iamnastyguy Thanks for the compliments Nasty. I always enjoy the smooth flights around the neighborhood. I'm hoping to do some more cross country this year. I doubt I will fly 10k, but I don't mind trying.

  • Love that scene from the movie.

    this was kewl.

    Thanks.

  • youre videos are only second to youre sensable flying skills you are the pilot i want to be.its so nice to see someone promoting our birdlike flight the way it should be you are the pilot and seagull the fledgelings should learn from not the people flyin trikes like their f 16 your a credit to our sport ty wrdturkey your fellow seagull

  • Nothing finer than flying

  • You should be arrested, that looks Wayyyyyy too fun to be legal...nice video.

  • @radarbrew Thanks Radar :o)

  • @radarbrew it is ... if yo uhave the money try it atleast once, hang gliding

  • How is that camera attached to your Wing? The video is perfect, smooth recording!

  • Can't find a site anywhere that sells these. Where to go for such things? Thanks!

  • @Quick2000 They don't make the Sabre anymore. There are plenty of other manufacturers. Google northwing trikes, ace aviation, magic trikes, air creation trikes, airborne trikes. That will get you started. I like Northwing's ATF trike. It's a simple design like the trike I have. Thanks for watching.

  • 1:00 house rider

  • plx plx plx reply soon,,,what type of a engine is that,,

  • @charles40411 Kawasaki 340.

  • im currently looking for something similar to this, i have saved up £4500, how much more would i need to save up, and can you suggest a web site were i could purchase one?

  • do you need a license to fly one of these awesome things?

  • What is a more basic name for this type of machine? I know its a sabre trike. LIke you know there are airplanes, and then jets are a small section of the airplane category, which category is this type of machine?

  • @wazzuspartan You can call them ultralights. This is a flexwing type. They also have three axis types. In Europe they call them microlights.

  • WRDTURKEY you really traveled 10,000 miles on this thing without stopping? what it is a small deisel engine

  • @toyu17 Runs off of air!

  • @wrdturkey ok,you turn off the engine on n off .but can you really go that much distance on this thing on the air?

  • @wrdturkey The motor runs off of air? Are you joking?

  • @CalifaJohn Air and a little bit of fuel.

  • @wrdturkey Okay. Like any combustion engine, the chambers fire with mostly air inside plus a little fuel.

  • why did you put this song to this video. there's no feeling without birds.

  • Where did u buy that thing?! AMAZING!

  • id love to try this little machine... it looks so fun to fly

  • While I realize this video has been up for some time it is one of the best in the combination of the flight and the music that I have see to date - Well Done

  • @cadude145 Thank you!

  • Simple machine, isn't it !I like very much.

  • @2781MIYAZAKI The simpler the better, I think. There is less to go wrong and easy to fly.

  • great video and a beautiful flying machine,

  • I know what u mean. Nice.

  • I used to listen to this all the time flying my Pegasus UL. Great song for long flights.

  • @crazykidsdad Sure is. I liked it when they used this song in "Fly Away Home". Great movie. Great song. I had to buy it on iTunes and put it to a video.

  • great vid mate thanks for posting

  • 2 stroke?

  • @killervette454 Yep. 340 Kawasaki. Thanks for watching.

  • I live in Cleve. Oh. do u know anyone in our area who gives lessons?

  • is that homemade or a kit? and how much did it cost you?

  • @Kalkas53 I bought it ready to fly. It cost $6995 in 1996 brand new.

  • I just want to get in the air.

  • Beautiful flight man.I envy you.

  • nossa que maravilha , lindo lugar belo voo, parabens.

  • dont you ever want to taske someone up with you?

  • @Ghillie334 Not really. Besides, with a camera I can take anyone up that wants to go. How did you like the flight?

  • @wrdturkey It was fantastic

  • @wrdturkey lol it was cool, Still there is no feeling like it, when for the first time you look out at the ground dissapearing below and the feeling of slight G's push you back.... ahhhh... OH sorry i was dreaming there for a sec. lol you get my point :)

  • I live in upstate ny "Saratoga " can you tell me how I can get into this I'm very interested. I fly rc planes and always wanted to try this . I can't find any training in ny for trikes . Please help .

  • Omg aren't you scared of flying so high up there?

  • @ImToMMyXD I usually fly low - under 1500'. I'm scared to death of heights :o)

  • @wrdturkey Thats so funny! I am not really scared of hieghts but the fear of falling is my problem. That tickle in your stomach terrifies me!

  • @marco21falcon Usually they say, it's not the fall that is the problem. It's the sudden stop at the end.

  • @ImToMMyXD To be honest once you are in the air it doesnt really matter how high you are as far as fear goes. I have way more fear when I'm under 40 feet because if something goes wrong you dont have much height to recover before you meet the ground.

  • 2 kewl fer skewl:).one day soon i shall have high speed internet at my place and post some of my own trike flights :).....very kewl .....i thinkin bout the music uncle albert by the beatles fer any more alberts airfield vids lol:)..fly safe....Quarksire aka Windrydr in colorado:)...chow:)....excellent vid:)....................~*(*@*@*)*~...........

  • nice video, nice song. Nice. . .

  • very cool video

  • nice plane, how much do they cost? this looks a lot better than the Quicksilver i bought off ebay and squished it up the first time i flew it.

  • @jacobl816 I love the Quicksilvers. They've been in business a long time and I love the simplicity of the single seaters. Shame on you for smashing it up :o) Check out some of the trikes at Northwing's site or the Trike Buggy's site.

  • beautiful video...you are a lucky guy..free like the birds.

  • how much fuel can u take up with you??? how many gallons per hour does it use??? or mpg if u no that

  • @95090978 I'm limited to 5 gallons of fuel. I burn about 2 gallons an hour, but it depends on how I fly.

  • how much do they cost and do you need a license,, nice vid!

  • Great video, the music went well with it. Good luck with the ultralight flying.

  • why is the music so sad

  • @fuzzybear000 I guess it all depends on the way you take the lyrics Fuzzy. I liked this song from the movie "Fly Away Home", and I decided to use it in one of my videos. Thanks for watching. I hope you didn't cry too much :o)

  • @fuzzybear000 The music is not sad, it is peaceful, Relaxing, Soothing and Perfect for the meditative state this soaring seems to cause or bring about. I'm sure there are some who would prefer some crazy Rock music, which for me would be a quick exit from watching such a video or flight!

  • wow were can you get things things and what are they called also do you have to have a licenses for them and do you have to take lessons to learn how to fly them? thanks for the help.

  • @Hogasofa Use the internet. You can Google ultralight trikes or go to Northwing's website. Check out their ATF trike. No license is required in the U.S. YES - you should get training.

  • Nice video. What wing are you using? Wes

  • @wescanfly Hi Wes. It's a Sabre 16 single surface wing. Wayne

  • that's over 9000!

  • nice and cool . .

  • How fast does it go?

  • @jacksonofalltrades Between 30 and 40 mph.

  • Great filming! Reminds me of flying my trike in the early days of microlighting in England in `81.... Fantastic times....

  • Great Vid!~

  • You going to Airventure with it?

  • @WIPilot1993 It's not in my plans.

  • I want to buy one myself, but i am new, what model do you recommend? also a little cheaper because I am a student and don't have very much money :)

  • Do you get "ground effect" when landing?

  • @magazov Very little. I think the wing sets too high for the ground to cancel out the wing tip vortices. Thanks for watching.

  • That is super cool !!

  • how much does one of them cost

  • how much gas does it hold and how far can you go on it

  • @TheYouwillsuffer 5 Gallons and about 2 1/2 hours. Thanks for watching.

  • Question. For a two seater do you need a certain license to fly with another person? And if you have a single seater, can you fly that without any license

  • @FLIGHTCOMPANY Any two seater requires a license. A single seater does not need a license to fly and there are other limitations also. (In the USA)

  • makes me want to watch "fly away home"

  • so awesome!

  • Gorgeous countryside. Thanks a lot for sharing this.

  • i was wonder does flying like that need a special license.

  • i found one cheap.i want to fly :))) this is the best video, love music :)

  • Damn MAN ! Super SMOOTH Landing ! GREAT ! one of this days.. I PROMISE !

  • how many hours can you fly with the engine running?

    and how many miles?

    thanks

  • @leodanqueretaro

A little over 2 hours. About 70-80 miles.

  • awesome landing dude you greased it.

  • thats cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • крутооооо!!!!

  • Creo que debiste haber nacido pájaro, haces que se vea tan sencillo que dan ganas de hacerlo tambien.

Felicitaciones y que sigas volando por muchos años mas.

  • if you get a strong wind and dangerous. and what the risk and worse

  • do you think it would be okay to get a used trike for a beginner instead of a new one?

  • @nickmannable I think it would be OK, if you take someone that knew something about trikes with you. It would be like buying a used car you know nothing about. Take someone with you and give it a going over. It's also best to see it fly first. If the seller doesn't want to fly it, neither should you.

  • So why did youu choose the Sabre?

Did you get the wing via Sabre too?

Will the tryke work with any wing?

Mind if I ask the approx. cost?

I was going to take up hang gliding and then I saw your vids and may just want to jump up to a tryke myself. Any suggestions?

By the way ... how does the Sabre compare to the NorthWing?

  • I like the simple design of the Sabre. It was simple and easy to fly. You can get something similar for about 10k. I like Northwing's ATF trike, Magic Trike or the Trike Buggy Delta. You can Goggle them to get to their website. I started out hang gliding. Suggestion? Surf the internet to get all the information you can. Do a lot of reading. There are so many options and you must be the decider.

  • @wrdturkey

Thank you so much for you reply.

If you started out hang gliding - do you still do it? If not why not? Would you consider Triking more or less dangerous and/or thrilling? Would it be advantagious to learn both?

I saw a used Sabre tandem on ebay with bidding at about $1,100 right now. Would you ever consider buying used? Do you do your own engine rebuilds? How much time will you put on an engine before a rebuild?

I consider opinion GOLD on these matters.

  • do you need a pilot's license to fly one of these? and is the engine goes out mid air can you still land safely?

  • @rebel4evr114

There's no license required to fly an ultralight in the U.S. See my video 'Deadstick Landing". It will show you what happens when the engine stops. Thanks for watching.

  • i have a couple questions as i am looking to get into ultralights (im a conventional private pilot but operating a GA plane is WAY to expensive)

    1. How fast does something like this cruise?

    2. What is the range of an ultralight like this?

    3. Compared to a PPG how safe are these?

thanks for the help in advance

  • 1. About 35 mph.

    2. About 2 hours on a tank.

    3. Very safe, but I also like PPG.

  • this is so cool. I love it. How would one start to get on one of these kites? Any idea about price of these and where to buy them at?

  • Google northwing atf, magic trikes, or trike buggy delta. That should get you started. About 10k new. Allow some money for training.

  • Isn't that song from the movie with the geese and the girl who flies a trike. I forget the name.

  • It sure is! The movie is called, "Fly Away Home". I love that movie. I have it on tape. I also have videos from Bill Lishman (Father Goose). He's the Canadian guy that started imprinting geese to fly with ultralights. It's a big organization now called, "Operation Migration". They have a website.

  • so simple yet so awesome

  • It sure beats flying by wire. Thanks for watching.

  • np

i want to make one but i got no idea where to begin
