Her album production standards are top drawer, first rate, down to every detail. She has an innate and intrinsic sensibility for the music she records. The songs ooze romance... with a lush and irresistable sensuality.
Quit worrying about her unperfect voice and unperfect piano playing. Invite your lover over crack open a bottle of bubbly, adjust your Bose stereo to mild, turn this song on and if you can't get lucky, I'm sorry for you. Tantlizing, seductive and rythmic.
I don't get it. Her vocal notes all fade away, there's no phrasing. Use the sustain pedal on your voice! And her piano is so subdued it needs great phrasing to enliven it; her touch is good but not great compared to e.g. Count Basie or Oscar Peterson. The versions of the song by Sergio Mendes and Brasil 66 (featuring Janis Hansen) and Dusty Springfield are miles better.
dude shes not a piano player shes a singer. and her piano playing is phrased very well, maybe a tad predictable at times. She plays block chords very well too considering piano is not her first instrument.
