It's the Launch Star you just come from....When you enter a new area where the background changes, the planets around are removed off the zone, but not Launch Stars.

They also have a (normally) unreachable planet in Good Egg galaxy with a pipe on it that takes you to a pipe in the middle of nowhere, forcing you to die. Mainly managed to hide them by placing them very far away from the actual stage, though why they're still in the final release of the game is beyond me.

Basically, after getting 60 stars, you'll unlock the final Bowser stage. If you then complete the stage, you can still go to the stage any time. When you get 120 stars, you HAVE to complete the final Bowser stage to unlock Luigi. EVEN if you've already completed it. The reason is, when you get 120 stars, you get an extra scene in the ending showing Luigi being unlocked.

Apparently that's a beta launch star. It was originally supposed to send you to another planet, but apparently both the planet the launch star's on and the planet it's supposed to lead you to were cut out of the final game.

The only way to get to it is by glitching/hacking, and all it really does is send you out into space past an invisible barrier.

I'd still go there, though. Stuff like that is interesting -- like glitches in general. Maybe someday, when I get a SD card...

That argument was about the fact that dryprick said there was a glitch in loopdeeswoop galaxy where you had to some how jump on to an island while on the ray, and it would have a slingstar which shot you back to the beginning, and you had to start the race again, but with the timer still going. HOWEVER, you SUPPOSED to simply finish the course in under 90 seconds (1 minute, 30 seconds), and when you return to the beginning, and the star appears, there will be a launch star on a platform there.

there are lots of "glitches" like this one, actually. all beta that wasn't removed. I just saw another video, with a cheat enabling flight everywhere, and in the very first galaxy there was a completely black little planet with a pipe. the player entered, and well, it went nowhere and Mario died.

in short: these spots are inaccessible for a reason.
