  • how can something be so sad and beautiful at the same time.

    :S

  • this song makes me cry

  • His name is Sergio Sanchez...and he is a mormon.

  • this is my favorite scene in the film when her voice starts to break and she begins to cry while playing. powerful

  • Hey, SME, thanks for not letting me play this in my playlist so I can listen to it while I work. I really appreciate having to stop and find it again on youtube just because of whatever bullshit reason you have for blocking playlist use.

  • I want to share this song with someone

  • @2kavaliwtisa I read it in a magazine, I'm not sure which one... It might have been Entertainment Weekly, or like, People. Check it out, I think it was EW :)

  • oh my god im really in love..

  • Can't believe this is going to be a live musical!!!

  • @DemonicTraits what?? where and when???

  • I can't stop my tears, every time i listen to it.

  • The first 4:36 are absolutely amazing, but it goes a bit downhill after that. :/

  • Can't stop raping the replay button.

  • 9 people couldn't get up the hill!

  • Best song of Once soundtrack.

How a so simple song can be so strong and touchable?

Fucking god dammit, thaks for the upload.

  • good

  • Beatiful song!!

  • once or across the univers?....

  • his dad gave it to him, when he said that he is going to London :)))

  • i couldn't figure out where "guy" got the money for the piano. he was already in hock to the bank for the studio time, right? This was my favorite song in the movie (there were some I didn't like much at all ;-)....I love that many of the lines were adlibbed...in particular the "No, I love you" line. Cute flick.

  • @misanthrope8 His dad told him (at the end when they were listening to his recording) that he had a few hundred quid put away for him, so he could get a place when he got London. He thought fuck it he needs to buy this girl a piano. That way my interpretation of it.

  • @pgI0897 Why would he call it Quid if he's an Irishman and they are on the Euro?

  • @cbrandom That's a very good question, and one that only John Carney can answer! :o) Good spot tho, it totally passed me by. To be fair, as the Irish currency was pounds and pence until they adopted the Euro, it's likely that older people still use terms like 'quid' when talking about money...

  • @pgI0897 That's a good point, I didn't really think about that. Did Ireland have Irish pounds (like Northern Ireland currently does, and its a pain in the ass to exchange them when you leave N.I. lol)?

  • @cbrandom Well N.I. uses UK currency and always has done, altho some banks there - like in remote parts of Scotland in the north - are allowed to issue privately printed notes. These are the ones that are a pain in the hole to try and spend anywhere else because nowhere will accept them!

The Republic only used UK currency while they were under British rule, which ended in 1928. After that it became Irish pounds and pence until the Euro came along. They decimilised at the same time as UK too.

  • I Felt like this this morning. Looking at her, wishing she cared about me the way i do her. Bless this song man.

  • @loganandbrittney hey sorry man that was sad, but dont ruin a friendship cause i did it and you'll never forget her

  • So mellow =]

  • And I know that i'm the morning i'll have to let you go, and you'll be just a man, once i used to know

  • wow memories of sitting at the piano playing this with my girlfriend singing...thanks for uploading this :)

  • Anyone knows where I can watch the movie online? I've searched everywhere and can't seem to find it! Thanks

  • i really liked this movie, but i had really high hopes to be blown away from all the reviews, but that's okay. i love that the movie was simple and straightforward (the plot is very loose.) but the fantastic soundtrack helps drives the plot and movie forward. it's very realistic because all that crazy ass killing, falling off the bridge, abducted by aliens things hollywood tends to put in movies doesn't happen in real life often.

  • so, now you can say your boyfriend or girlfriend I Love you- Miluji tebe. Or I love him - Miluji jeho.

  • She sounds really, quite alone. :(

  • Beauty is all that can define.

  • me encanto el video pero si fuera posiblE te agradeceria mucho la partitura de piano. porfa responde

  • This song is honestly one of the best songs i have ever heard :)

  • No words for the movie or for this piece of art. Okage de!

  • this is one of the best movies I've ever seen, happyness and sadness at the same time, I'm morrocan by the way...peace and love

  • the most ironic name title ever its impossible to just listen or watch it once. you'll just exploxde

  • Once makes me feel happy and sad at the same time :)

  • does anyone know what she said to the guy in Czech when he asked her if she still loved her husband?

  • @TheGirlDreams She said him "Miluji tebe". "I love you" in Czech language. (I've extracted this from wikipedia, because I am Spanish and I do not know the Czech language.)

    "Te quiero" in spanish.

  • @MissCr0ft

Yes, she said "I love you". I'm Polish, so I understand a little bit in Czech language ;)

I just finished watching this movie. Mhmmm...

  • I dont remember very well but i remember it was a open ending for me, the last scene is so beautiful and confusing

  • Nostalgic.

  • arrepiada! :D

  • una de mis cnciones favoritas ever

  • tonight's lullaby from one of my many favorite movies. nighty, night, all!

  • its killing meeeeeeeeee

  • its killing meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • I loved!

  • Im lovin' it

  • love this song!

  • ive never heard of this movie.. is it old ? and whats it about?

  • @TheZahraHabib

    Hey there.

Dont worry about the plot or the storyline of this movie. It all becomes very obvious as you watch and become drawn into one of the most simple yet brilliant movies of 2007. Once is so captivating, so mesmorising it is one of the finest movies i have ever seen.

    A must see

    G :-)

  • One of the best movies ever....proves that talent and not budget makes movies...

  • this whole soundtrack breaks me inside....:')

  • I love Once, it's gotta be one of my favourite films. I watched it last night and cried at this bit, even though i've already watched it a million times before.

  • This song can make a guy in a room full of hookers depressed.

  • How come can anybody dislike this? Are you totally emotionless or what?!

  • this is so beautiful that i actually cried a few tears when i watched this part of the film.

  • Eh...no doubt - one of the greatest and most sensitive songs ever written. The film - just like you said - is beatiful, simple. Life is simple and beatiful.

  • I love this film. I've seen it about 15 or so times, everytime it gets me teary eyed, and im a dude. but if you dont. your not a human.

  • The magic is within Us - Anonymous

  • Absolutely beautiful, heartfelt voices and renditions!!

  • i wish they would do a version of 9 crimes by damien rice

  • @jubbajubba12345 OH GOD THAT WOULD BE SO GOOD! well done on the musical ingenuity.

  • liked how the whole thing was shot. It was different from what I'm used to: a lot of props and fake sets.

  • This song reaches my soul. So beautiful.

  • I totally agree with Kris242

  • ive seen this movie twice, love every song preformed and believe that the whole movie is a metaphor for life. people come then one week later are gone....its profoundly beautiful and utterly amazing. The whole movie is tastefully made and the end is realistic, simplistic brilliance.

  • She really excels in solo numbers. i think they are better singing solo instead of duets.

  • I love this song, it's inspiring. The movie, though reminded me that in this world you need music, without it you would be lost and would probabaly never find your best friend or the person you love, somtimes music can even help you find your self. You need music more then you may think. Thats why I like this song so much, thats why I love music and will try my hardest for it not to be taken away from me.......

  • just for the momento that i'm living :(

  • this song is well written and makes me weep for an hour afterwards as it makes you miss loved ones no wonder Marketa wept in the film.

  • @rileyandstella well its supposed to be about her trying he best to please her husband but nothing she does is recognized.

  • love this film, amazin songs of passion..!!

  • love this song so much passion

  • MY FAVORITE (other than Mad World- Gary Jules)

  • ALL of your music is breathtakingly beautiful, but this is hauntingly so....

  • Just one word: PERFECT

  • why can't there be more movies that actually cahnge your life like this one does.

Not like all the stupid movies that send terrible messages today.

  • By far the best song on the soundtrack

  • just the intro already can touch your soul. <3

  • Probably one of the best movies of the last ten to twenty years, it's proof you don't need Hollywood or a big budget to make something truly great.

  • this song touches you inside

  • I LOVE IT

  • I really don`t understand the critique towards the ending of this movie. It is, in fact, one of the best and thought-provoking endings I have ever seen in a movie.

With this and Leave, the soundtrack leaves nothing to desire. It is absolutely perfect.

  • ..awesome ....

  • what a great song

  • They totally deserved the Oscar for best original song. The movie is just like someones dream and I mean a real dream, not some created shit.

  • I think the ending was absolutely perfect. In a way, it was sort of a happy ending; by meeting each other, they became better people. They realized their dreams and responsibilities and the sacrifices they have to make. It was a beautiful ending and the last shot was just gorgeous.

  • @PrincessOfAvalon I'd argue that it's more bittersweet than happy, but yeah, absolutely beautiful either way.

  • this movie breaks down the superficial happy endings that we expect to see in hollywood films. this film is real

  • yeah, but i still hate the ending

    hahaha...

  • i understand the dislike of the ending but its so beautiful and true...i was upset at first too.

  • although she's very young in 'Once' she shows a very good talent as a singer, as a musician and as an actress; her breakdown during playing piano was first class work as actress and adds drama to that rendition

  • I think this movie resonated with people is that it accurately portrayed the reality of life, including loss and sorrow. But sorrow can be the vehicle to deeper understanding and joy...see Kahlil Gibran, for instance.

  • The ending just wasn´t one of those you would expect in a Hollywood High Concept film, but Once isn´t one, so there you go ;) To me this ending is just realistic and that´s why this film appealed to me. And the music is just stunning!

  • one of the best love songs ever

  • I don't know why I always want a happy ending. :(

  • I honestly think the ending was perfect. It was just so different, it left me thinking for ages.

  • I think everyone would want it to end differently but I like how it ended, it's actually real. That's why it's so sad.

  • this song is perfect for what im going through. the lyrics are great and the music is so beautiful. loved the movie....cry every time i see it

  • I loved this film, I sobbed when she started crying in this bit... I was dissapointed by the end though, It should have ended differently - dont want to ruin it for anyone so I'll just leave it at that

  • Thankfully, there was one last second to sate you.

  • My heart broke when she cried during this song...

  • mine too. so intense and beautiful.

  • es lo mejor que he escuchado, es una cancion que te cala mas alla de la piel...

  • i feel the loneliless from the song very much

Buen cine...

  • I wish this was on MusicNotes; does anyone know where I can find the sheet music?

  • I love this movie too for its sincerity. But what do you mean by 'western romance'? Romance films produced in the West?

  • i´ts so sad... but the song is beutiful!!!

  • amazing voice...

  • Her voice is marvellous, indeed.

  • Well i can understand your opinion in the movie, but personally I found brilliance in the simplicity of this movie. It's not often that you find a movie which tells such a beautiful story of love and friendship in such a straitforward and true way. None of those special effects or plot twists to make things complicated and annoying. And the music again shares such a beautiful yet simple feeling.

  • @kris242 very well said.... my bestfriend gave me a copy of this movie as a Christmas present and I cannot tell how many times I watched this over and over again and still get the same feeling like when I saw it the first time... this is a timeless classic... this movie is even included in a book entitled "1001 movies you need to watch before you die"

  • my favorite song of the movie..

  • i'm in love with this film and this scene is my favorite one it's so moving and emotional and i love her voice its gorgeous and the whole film is so good i love the way its filmed love Once i love it to bits

  • I've seen the movie not ˇ"once" I want to say that's one of the most inspiritive moment.

  • I love this song! Beautiful!

  • I must disagree, this movie was amazing, including the plot. You won't like it if you're used to western romance films. Probably because they're all garbage.

Spielburg said this movie gave him the strength to make movies for another year.

  • its just my opinion. and your right, It is probably because I dont really understand foreign films much.

  • Perhaps you don't like it because it is not Gestalt. It is not tied up with a tidy bow into a "whole." Yet, it is as Gestalt as life gets, and that is what makes it such a lovely film.

  • haha im so naive when it comes to deep films. yeah im usually clueless unless the movie is concise.

  • It may not be that you are naive. You may just adhere to the Gestalt school of art (not a bad thing), in which case, the movie would leave you unsatisfied.

  • yo do u understand wha is movie? its about action? horror? romance? wha it is?

n keepin those apart from you u gotta understand then u will relaize wat a beautiful movie that was

  • this movie was one of those very very few movies that can actualy be called art,

this song always makes me tear :)

marketa irglova is a wonderful singer ^.^

  • where are you my angel now?

  • if you love music you'll enjoy this movie....too bad that movies today can't be as creative as this.

  • this mmovie made me cry. the music and everything is beautiful and just makes the movie worth watching even more!

    Best movie ever!

out of five stars I give it six!

  • krásná písnička ... :) když potřebujete zapomenout , stačí si ji pustit a nádherně se odreagujete, aspon já ano ... vřele doporučuji :)

  • this song is good

  • Ciężki film, ale piosenki wspaniałe (:

  • this film is playing on sky premiere this week, its beautiful

  • i just didnt like the ending of the film, although i think it was the only thing that could happen , still great film

  • great movie. love the ending. that's the whole point of the title ,once. get it ?

    ¨fantastic songs.

  • it's connected with many musicians that director have met and they were saying: 'once i get everything organise (in my live), i will start taking care of music...' or something like that. and it's about main character, too. ;)

  • I completely agree. I loved the whole movie and then came the ending and i couldn't help but throw my popcorn at the tv because the ending made me so mad xD

  • @sexylissa9815 : lol!!!!

  • watched the movie today in the cinema..

I loved it and I allost cried wenn the girl started crying... and stopped singing... :(((

    BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!

  • so beautiful

  • Wanna watch the moviey!!!!

  • It's sooo good! I'd never heard of it but just rented it. Definitely a goodie!!!

  • so sad and so beautiful, i really love this song. its so wonderful listening to this song at late of night, alone, just you and the music.

    it makes you cry.. :-<

  • I loved that moment where she broke down in the mid sentence while she was singing....when she started the song I was so pulled in by the emotion in her voice along with the haunting, melancholy notes of the piano. The lyrics were so easy to relate to, and so sad...when she stopped singing mid sentence to cry, there was just this silence that left me wondering, 'how in the world was she able to leave me with such a strong feeling with just her voice and a piano...?'

    Truly beautiful!

    jaa,

    sano

  • Haha, eargasmic. That's good.

  • beatiful and so sad....
