  • WOW.. my favourite belly dancer of alllll time

  • aw she looks amazing!<3

  • She Is So Wonderful!!

  • she is hot and in the same time is so beautiful ...

  • finally a good dancer with meat on her bones!

  • favorite part is from 0:13-0:28

  • lol@braluver(rolls eyes at his name) and his love of suheir Zakis quote " beautifulnbeasts "lmao I dont dissagree though she has a fantastic figure but come on...do you really need to comment on the obvious(badly) lol

  • Fantastic. The wise star!

  • wow cant wait til im this good... :)

  • A few years ago I was at a top hotel restaurant in Cairo and a belly dancer was doing her stuff. When she arrived at our table I asked her where she was from. And the answer....NEW ZEALAND! I felt cheated.

  • I love her costumes. It just shows that you don't have to be half-naked to show the fullness of the moves. If I ever get or make a belly-dancing costume, I want it to look like this one!

  • I like to see her belly button when she dances.

  • That was beautiful!

I stumbled upon this and took the time to watch it - I am from the western part of the world and I have to say this way of dancing is much more charming and sensual then the western dances! She's got a nice body and a pretty, bright face, a MUST for any dancer.

I especially like the close up showing her arms and upper body movement from 2:30 on, to me the essence of femininity, absolutely beautiful! Thanks for sharing to the world.

  • is this video much later than Samia Gamal's other vids?

cuz Soheir dances in totally other way...

better, with elegany, sometimes slowing down

and not with the smile "i can't stop it plz help!'

  • Her dance is enchanting and thanks!

  • I wish I could have this films! I adore that time...

  • I have never seen a better belly dancer. Suheir is superb in every way!

  • Is Suheir self-taught?

  • Was Suheir Zaki self-taught? I hope so. That would make her better than a goddess in my eyes. She's so amazing. :D

  • most of true eyptian belly dancers are self taught

  • Best of the best.

  • her moves look great.. however, it is funny to see the typical 60ies style like the waterfall in the background. Why is her hair so flattened on heir head?

  • This is so nice. She is delightful, thanks for posting this one!

  • wonderful music and I love the way she moves so softly:It seems easy but is not!! tks fo sharing

  • she makes the music sound so alive. you just can't hate her!

  • She is amazing, you can learn so much from her performance. This is what true belly dancing should look like. Very beautiful, sweet and elegant.

  • lovely Soheir!

  • Great dance. I supose part of being 'open minded' and civilized is not complaining about her being half naked front of the whole world..? Pure talent.

  • she is really beautiful. im prettier tho! m

  • amazing and beautiful

  • Beautiful love handles!

  • she one of my favourite dancers

  • the thing about egyptian dancers is that they "feel" the arabic music being played, the russian or whatever dancers you see these days are too technical and don't understand the lyrics or the beats' meanings to dance accordingly

  • I the past I used to dream about her she is very sexy espcially het thighs, legs and feet.

I wished that I could lick, suck her legs, feet and her lovely red varnished toes

  • very nice fantastic belly dancer shams monica

  • Egyptian dancers are the best!!!!!!!!!!

  • The way she dances seems a lot closer to Polynesian dance, instead of middle eastern. It's like she's trying to tell a story instead of just entertain.

  • sadie is better!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Suheir Zaki est sublime.

Mais pourquoi la vidéo s'arrête en cours de route ??? On aurait aimé voir la suite.

  • she is a belly dancer not like foreigner roboots who try to dance egyptian dance

to be hones you look very boring and artificial

  • Now thTHIS is the real thing not some russian imitators

  • haha so true.... technique can be learnt but sensation can't you are born with it as an arab dancer

  • I`m agree! 100%

  • im sorry .. but im arab .. and i think russian bellydancers kick ass .. they take bellydancing as a sport .. but as arabs just take it as a hobby and sometimes a work :P (no offense , but arab dancers r better in which they put more passion into it .. )

  • a good dance..thanks guys

  • This song is Agadan Alqaak (Will I meet you tomorrow?)music by Muhammad Abdul-Wahab,a song by the legendary Um Kalthoom

  • Does anyone know the title of the music? Can't get over this video. :)

  • she is soooooo wonderfull. she makes it loook soo easy

  • havent heard it they actually call a lot of dancers "sweet star of egypt" or cairo. actually, "sugar" is an endearing term in arabic and turkish. so it might be from that word, but i do not know for sure as i have not heard that attribute of hers.

  • So beautiful i could cry, THIS is what it's all about...

  • She is wonderful!

  • the camera shot is too faraway....they dont zoom until the end and it's still to dang far!

  • she's beautiful, my idol too! :D

  • She is the most beautiful dancer I have ever seen. Egyptian dancers are always natural and don't ruin the dance by making it so technical. Simple, classy, perfect.

  • I agree and disagree. She is extraordinary because she is not typical of the average Egyptian dancer. There is a girl-next-door sweetness about her phrasing and presentation that you don't find elsewhere. She has very long arms and uses them beautifully.

  • Comment removed

  • I love Suheir, she's the best bellydancer forever. She's my idol.

  • Sureir is a goddess. Her dancing is a unique and technically perfect expression of her poetic heart. She is beautiful inside and out.

  • No one has the grace of suhair Zaki she's the queen of bellydancing in the Arab world.

  • She is very beautiful. She is a very beautiful belly dancer as well. Even in yellow, she looks flawless, and not too many can pull off the yellow look :D

  • Love the dress. And her smile.

  • Beautiful beasts, such a voluptuous and truly lovely, womanly body. Beautifully curvaceous! Her body is exquisite

  • fantastica danzarina

  • with all respect to the bellydance superstars( american phenomena?) but i do not regard that as true bellydance. It seems to me to be geared towards western tastes.the classics are unbeatable as I am sure others will agree

  • You're not the only one. :) They're good for what they are but I think they miss the point of bellydance at times. It's not just about the moves!

  • I really like her. Her dance is very graceful and subtle. I think Egyptian dancers are the best.

  • Suheir is my definition of an attractive woman. Her beautiful curves are really accentuated in her amazing moves

  • Man she is incredibly attractive. The way she dances really accentuates that beauty, really gorgeous

  • She is what I call an attractive woman, her fuller figure and nice curves are much nicer than bone-skinny models. Not to mention how well this dancing accentuates that beauty

  • She is what I would call an attractive woman: fuller of figure with nice curves. Much better to look at then bone-skinny models. Her movements really accentuate her beauty!

  • She is my idea of an attractive woman, not one of these bone skinny women. Gorgeous

  • I don't know much about dancing but I do know that this woman has such an alluring presence. Captivating

  • very very graceful and passionate

  • I like her style, it's very personal and passionate. Not scripted and cookie cutter. Hard to explain, but she's fun to watch. Maybe this is why I prefer Egyptian dancers over Lebanese style dancers.

  • My most favorite aside from fifi and najwa....Suhair is so beautiful, graceful and you can see her love of the music and dance in her eyes and face as well as her moves....Somone once compared me to her, but Never in a million years can anyone compare to this legendary dancer...i only wish......

  • so incredibly awesome!!

  • Beautiful woman, dancer, and costume. Like a saffron dream. I wish I could dance with such simplicity, skill and grace.

  • i don't know a lot about bellydancing,, but when i watch it,, i kinda like to actually see the mid section,, my complaint is she is covered

  • Suheir you cannot be compared .For all you guys out there THIS IS EGYPTIAN DANCING simply ,the best.

  • Pure joy!

  • LINDA DE TUDO!

  • I still can't get over how beautiful this video is, you can tell how much she's enjoying the music and her own dancing. Her interpetation is so fresh and perfect, she IS the music, she's amazing.

  • clean pure vibe! every time i watch her a smile stuck on my face :)

  • She is marvellous!!

  • i looove that dress!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! not a fan of that color though...

does any1 knows how old this video is?

  • Oh, about Nagwa. Well, since you brought her up.. I will be posting very nice clips. Make sure to check them out :-)

  • And now that I've got that off my chest, yes, i find some of the 30+ year old clips of legendary dancers to be tame in terms of modern choreographed pieces, but the joy and musicality of the dancer shines through no matter what era, style or country. Soheir is a legend for a reason. There's no need to be hatin' on Jillina ... no need for the "she's no Nagwa Fouad" brand of discourse ...

  • No one hated on her. But I think it's confusing for some who don't know much about egyptian dance, so they come here and post funny and somewhat dumb comparisons. Someone needs to let them know the difference. Suheir is an egyptian legend, she's been dancing since she was in diapers. A lot of today's so called dancers don't have the background that she has. Honestly, I never heard of Jillina before joining youtube. She's not bad, but she's definately not "egyptian style" like she claims to be.

  • gypsy... each time i want to write something... i find your comment (with the same point of view)...

    Bravo

  • Excellent comments, you seem to know what you are talking about.

  • Bellydance at its best.

  • she's good.

  • Did they teachthenselves how to dance? She did. She gets evem more credt for that.

  • she moves with such grace. amazing

  • You're right. She doesn't compare to other dancers, and she's NOT a "chick". She's the "Om Kalthoum of Dance" as president anwar sadat once said. I bet you don't even know who I'm talking about. Judging by the comments left on ur page by other users "He's not qualified to wipe his own ass, much less comment", i suggest you take your crap somewhere else.

  • Bravo 3laek ya gypsy...

I've read all your commentaries bellydancers, all of them are true.

  • Oh, wow! didn't think someone's been keeping track of my comments. Well, thanks! I like to focus on criticism and try to be constructive as much as I can. And I'm sorry if I seem to have a bit of an attitude sometimes, but so does everyone else on youtube.

  • Help anyone got any info on Sohair.....

does anyone know of a list of films she apeared in ??

Please help me find out a bit more about her im writing an article on her: (zaras zouk website)

  • brilliant, thanks xRainxo

  • you are welcome shimmysky

  • beautiful, does any one know the name of the music?

  • To Shimmysky it's a music starter to a song by the egyptian singer Um Kalsoun "Aghadan Alkak"

  • i mean Om Kalsoum** sorry

  • yeah, it is a song entry sang by the legendary Om Klthoum, composed by the father o music Mohamed Abdel Wahab. The song's name is "A Ghadan Alqak?" or " Will I meet you tomorrow?"

  • What a gorgeous woman... A pure artist; Bono of U2 once said he had a weakness for belly dancers; now I know why...

  • gorgeous

  • Lovely smile!awesome dance...

  • Love her. A true bellydancer. One of the giveaways of a true bellydancer is the genuine smile present when they dance, and she's got it. She truly shines. I hate when dancers fake smile, it just doesn't look authentic.

  • Same here. I love her so much. It's almost impossible to find a dancer who is loved by everybody.

  • She is amazing... the reason I really like her, besides all the moves is her obvious love of the music and the dance and there is a genuineness in her face that I think a lot of people can't acheive no matter how many of hours they put into technique.

  • A true great and one of my favs!

  • "Jillina discoverd bd in her mid 20s and learned from other teachers. Thats why mostly what she does is choreography and her dancing lacks Egyptian passion that Suheir has."

So true Gypsy...this is the REAL thing, no choregraphy, no boring mechanics, no counting. Real Egyptian Ra'asa dance from the heart, soul unlike Jillina who lacks so much.

  • (I don´t know how to write correctly in English but...)

I think the film is from 70´s

and she is the spirit of egyptian dance.

we have to think that, in this time, doesn´t matter the perfect technique that we can see in new dancers like jillina, rachel brice, amar gamal...

so we have to respect the two different times and places of the belly dance History.

    love & peace!

  • Again, there is no comparison. Suheir Zaki is a household name in the Middle East and dancers around the world know who she is. She couldn't walk in the street without being mobbed by fans. Jillina and company are dancers whose "fans" are mainly other belly dancers. They are not famous in America and most ppl living in the 'land of belly dance' have never heard of them.

Yes, this was filmed in the 70's.

  • She is look like Catherine Zeta Jones!

I have been thinking this video clip is quite old, maybe from 1960's or 1970's at least!

  • She is old enough to be her mother. So, Sohair came first. Plus, honesly, I think she i prettier than zeta jones

  • lol no i mean improv not improve, but either way, I get your point. Thank you :) So you definitely think it isn't choreograhed?

  • I also have been trying to figure out if this is improve or choreographed. What do you guys think?

  • A very beautiful dance performance. This is a film clip that's why the dancing has a slightly different feel to it than a live performance. Her costume is lovely and every move is so well orchestrated.

  • ok, so i'm sure i'm going to get slammed for this and i really don't mean any disrespect, but i honestly think jillina is better as far as technique goes. i agree that suheir has more passion and she's lovely. maybe i haven't seen enough egyptian classic to judge tho-turkish cabaret is more my style.

  • Suheir's dancing is so perfect she makes it look easy. She was a prof. since age 11 and pretty much taught herself the dance. Jillina discoverd bd in her mid 20s and learned from other teachers. Thats why mostly what she does is choreography and her dancing lacks Egyptian passion that Suheir has. Suheir's movements are strong yet feminine, not to mention her obvious good looks. Curvy figure, real long hair etc.. and u never see her in an ugly costume. i mean come on now, there is NO COMPARISON.

  • lol ok ok. No, I've been watching this clip and another of Suheir since I last posted, and tried to copy the moves. I retract my previous statement-she's amazing.

  • Most Egyptians would disagree. Dancers like Suheir represent the true essence of this dance. They dance naturally from their soul. American dancers often come off as overly sexy and overly choreographed.

  • Suheir is my favorite. I do think Jillina is lovely and fun to watch, but Suheir is untouchable. She has something so beautiful, natural, and undeniable about her! Out of so many comments very few people have anything at all negative to say about her. Her dancing is sooooo moving and so beautiful.

  • when was this?

  • im guessing like 80s prolly, i mean the music and all..and the hair too lol

  • She looks very pretty when she dances, and she's very graceful as well. In addition to that, I don't think that she has a weight problem. I mean, come on! At her age, she got wonderful curves. And 'skinny' doesn't always equal to 'fit.'

  • Are you people sick . I think she is perfect . She has a womanly body . She is curvy .

  • She's totally dancing it out of her joy. That's cool.

  • She's the best! Love her costume:)

  • A bellydancer should be any size, if you go back to the history of bellydance you will see people of all sizes. So I think people should not make comments on her size. Comments like that brings on bulima

  • She not only dances perfect, she looks great too

  • I think she is a bit heavy. A belly dancer should be thinner than this.

  • If you see the clips i posted she was a lot younger and slimmer. This was filmed 15-20 years later. She is in her late 30s, maybe early 40s. Of course her body is going to change! Suheir comes from the Egyptian city of Mansoura which is known for its beautiful women. She's great regardless, and she also happens to be THE Suheir Zaki. People are willing to watch her even if she weighs 200 lbs!!

  • Listen I did not say that she is a bad dancer or anything. All I said that she is a bit heavy. I know who Suhair Zaki is. You do not need to tell me.

  • belly dancers are not meant to be skinny..

  • Actually no. She is the perfect size. Belly dancers aren't MEANT to be thin. = Look into more classical belly dancing and not the modern crap and it's only the newer generation that is getting thinner to fit into Western trends.

  • agree ...too thin is NOT appealing

  • great

  • dress is a bit too revealing, ..but dancing is good

  • NiiCE!!!SHE MOVES FAST

  • Simply Perfect!!

  • yeah ! :D

  • thanks for sharing this video with the world, she is the best ever for me, in some way she is my teacher, i love her dance!

  • She is one of the greatest of the greats! I could watch her all day. *sigh*

  • BEAUTYFUL

  • Very nice, I like her outfit and her dancing.

  • she is absolutely awsome!!!:D waw!!!

  • I wish i can see more of her dancing anyhow what is she up now dose any one know where is zureir I havnt seen her any more !! love you sureir your the best of the best

  • I love the old Egyptian style dancing. Even the cheesy expressions are a great part of it. I have not seen any Turkish or Lebanese dancers that can compare to Egyptian dancers. IMNSHO

  • It doesn't get any better than her. Maybe Nagwa, but it's a close tie:)_

  • she kicked butt!! ladies and gentlemen i present to u....the Goddess of Dance!!

  • She is so great. Not many dancers have great technique, passion, and expression at the same time.

  • WOW! just WOW!

  • Soheir is always fascinating. She is one of the Godesess of the belly dance Pantheon :-)

  • The song is "Aghadan Alkak" (Om Khaltoum)

  • she is my reason to dance i absolotly adore her

    long life to suhair!

  • what's the name of the song

  • It sounds like an OM Kalsoum song...Daaret al-Ayem

  • Very nice!!! Does anybody know what is the name of the song?

  • Arab prideee :p

  • She's fantastic! She makes everything look so effortless when it's completely not. Thanks for the vid :)

  • Love Suheir!!!!

  • She is a queen!!

  • omg, I want to wear that dress!!!

  • Sexy. Classy. Great!. Thanks!!!

  • souhair rocks!

  • I don't know, that costume has that harvest gold flower power thing going on, reminds me of the 60's or 70's. But I don't claim to be an expert on costumes through the ages ;)

I love her smile and her playful looks.

  • That's because it was during that time, 60's i think. Isn't the whole scene cool :) I love it!

  • this is her - but from some cinema of 80-s i guess

it's sad that she retired - i love her so much!

  • How old is this video? The famous Suheir Zachi is already retired for some good years. Is she the famous one or her daughter?

  • OOOH, so classy and elegant!
