Her name is Kakushin Nishihra.

She is Satumabiwa player,Turuta Kinshi style.

An absolutely amazing performance. This is why the Satsuma biwa, specially the modern Tsuruta biwa, is my favorite instrument. Her singing is amazing as well, and her voice reminds me a bit of Sakata Yoshiko, one of Tsuruta Kinshi's best students.

Tsuruta Kinshi not only wrote this song (Dan no Ura) based on the Heike tale, but basically invented this type of playing and modified the instrument as needed. She almost singlehandedly saved Satsuma biwa from extinction and revolutionized it.
