  • i think the albums sales worwide thalk whos tha best band in the music history beatles

  • I don't remember the cops intervening the telling people to hush. Guess it didn't matter at the time, just wanted to see The Beatles. My ticket was General Admission and everyone RAN to get the best seat. Seems like Archie Bell and the Drells warmed up the audience but I might be wrong. Anyone remember who it was?

  • Every one needs to stop saying they know how it feels or they know this or they know that about the beatles. Some stuff is great live and some is OK. People have there good and bad nights bla bla bla bla. Get live at the BBC with no screaming crazy audience, if you call that bad or just ok then your just crazy. And yes playing 30 -40 mins can be very exhausting. Unless you lived it, don't knock it, have a nice day :)

  • I miss the old Sam Houston Coliseum..it had a lot of history.

  • Fab 4...legends!

  • I enjoyed your video!

    ----------Ellen

  • They really sound like they're having fun with "I'm Down"!

  • I see that three Blue Meanies were here.

  • I was there, too! 3:00 performance, still have the General Admission ticket stub. Paid $5 for the ticket. Lined up outside at 6:00. Screamed my head off, had an unforgettable time.

  • @Mipiaci111 im jealous! so do you think paul is dead or not? I dont know some of the stuff makes you think! But either way he is a music god! I saw him live 2 years ago in dallas texas!!

  • I was 15 when they played in Houston....but I lived in Austin,Tx.....I begged my dad to take me, but he wanted none of it....I was going to hitch hike the 350 miles, but at the last moment, I chickened out (probably a good thing, I was very innocent)!

  • @cootercat486

wow what a huge mistake you made haha

  • @PatrickTX100 Oh how right you are! But at least I did get to see Paul McCartney and Wings in Houston in their Wings over America tour! I even got withing about 20 feet of Paul when he was backstage! But you are right, I missed seeing the greatest band in history ,

  • in the studio the Beatles were true Artists, but playing LIve, one has to be honest and say they were just ok. Even the Rooftop concert, they were just ok. The Who is much better Live band.

  • Two shows in one day. That had to be exhausting.

  • @cometandcupids: the concerts in themselves weren't exhausting; they only played for about a half an hour. It was the traveling that was exhausting. Not to mention they were trying fufill album commitments, too!

  • I didnt know the Beatles play in my city!!! ( years before I was born though..still cool!!!)

  • in houston tx or somewere else

  • jayfey77 - you are such a superior music fan and beatles fan and beyond even that that i dont think your comments are relevent to this discussion anymore.

  • Thanks so much for posting this, such a joy

  • what a SCARY scene - no wonder they stopped touring shortly after.

  • I remember seeing the 'boys' in L.A. at Dodger Stadium...similar intensity in the air as they belted out these gems...an FYI to TheSteviegurl...the act from East Los Angeles that toured with The Beatles in Houston was "Cannibal" not Hannibal...Hannbal was the guy who crossed the Alps by Elephants! ^/^

  • Thanks for posting this audio. I was there; rode a bus from Louisiana with my younger sister and best friend. First time in a "big" city and first time to see skyscrapers. I was 15. The show opened with Hannibal and the Headhunters, "Land of 1000 Dances". I recorded it with my parent's movie camera and flood lights. There was an electric outlet. I screamed my guts out. The film died in a house fire in the 1980's, but the music and the experience has never!

  • I feel that live tension between excited audiences and securities at that time. I imagine how crazy Beatle Mania's situation was.

  • I was 13 on this day

  • I was here in Houston on that date. Unfortunately I could'n't make the show. I was only 26 days old, and I couldn't get a ride. ) :

  • So this was just a few days after the Shea Stadium Concert, I think.

  • WHo the f*** put me in 1995?!

  • The police actually had a "Beatle division"?? Wow...

  • I'm from Houston, but i'm only 20. So it seems crazy to think of how Houston might have looked like or just been like back then.

Does anyone know what venue they played at?

  • Hard Day's Night...my favorite Beatles song!

  • Of all the Beatles performances I've heard this is the only one I've heard where security has to actually intervene...crazy

  • @eggsnbaconify I was born in '98 too ^-^ Beatle fans of the same birth-year OH YEAH!!!

  • Sounds like John was amused by the high drama in the voice of the Houston Security Beatle Division spokesman. I had this on a 2 record set bootleg years ago.

  • @1967mustanggta They did two shows on the same day in Houston - one at 3:30 and the other at 8:00. I wonder which show the recordings are from, or maybe they come from both shows?

  • @bodhi3323 That's right, I forgot. One record in the set was of the first show and the other for the evening show. If I remember right the "Beatle Security Spokesman" refers in some way to the afternoon happenings in the evening show.

  • @bodhi3323 He says at around 6:10 that the last song will have to be the end of their first show.

  • I saw them 3 nights later in Portland..

  • I feel a bit sorry for them, how the girls go crazy for them... Both a blessing and a curse.

  • 7:47 WTF???

  • hey that where im from

  • Great to see the Top Of The Pops performance photo of the Beatles when they performed "Rain"on the show, was famously wiped by the BBC,still is hope someone who could afford an early reel to reel VTR,or film camera possibly recorded/filmed this material, may just be daydreaming there.Thank you so very much for putting this great and rare material up on youtube! Thanks again!

  • @topofthepopsguy the TOFP perfomance in 66 is supposed to be lurking in the hands of private collectors

  • thebluesavage how old are you?

  • I remember Russ Knight, the DJ, yelling at us at this concert. The Beatles were behind him making fun of him pointing for him to get off the stage.

  • I was there, still got the ticket stubs. $5.00 per ticket. My Dad bitched about the price.

  • was 5.00 really expensive in the 60s

  • For us it was. I still have 2 ticket stubs w/ consecutive numbers in A1 condition. Thinking about putting them on Ebay.

  • @thebluesavage i would give any amount of money u said just to have those tickets :)

well if its reasonabe.. but it would make me soooo happy i truly love the beatles...

  • on ebay 1 goes for near $500. These have consecutive seat numbers. Make me an offer.

  • aprox. how much was $5 in '65?

  • @CelestialWoodway Lol not with all the inflation and ressecion since then

  • "move back people please, move back!

I've said move back! move back motherfuckers!"

  • I remember John was playing keyboard on I'm Down. At one point he was running his elbow along the keyboard. First concert was ever at.

  • from Brazil...

How many copies did The Beatles sell?

There's no doubt... The Beatles are the best.

    Sorry! Stones' fans

  • Thanks so much for posting! Awesome, brings back old memories. I was there but don't remember the cop screaming.

  • 3:18 is hillarious

  • I love the Beatles and the Stones, I grew up with the music. But the Stones were always second best. Number one singles, album sales they never came close to the Beatles. Not my opinion, just a fact.

  • Comment removed

  • Sorry man, Stones can't touch The Beatles. Stones are GREAT, don't get me wrong. But they can't reach The Beatles. Sorry. No offense to anyone.

  • @backfromzero don't mention it.

  • @backfromzero what offense? Its a fact that should already be known, doesn't lower the statis of the Stones. They will always be one of the best bands in the world.

  • @backfromzero No one in the US would have heard of The Rolling Stones or The Who -- etcc. -- if it weren't for The Beatles kicking the door down.

And it was Lennon who told Ed Sullivant to get The Rolling Stones.

When it comes to The Rolling Stones, they followed The Beatles.

  • Houston kicks ass. to bad i was born in 87, at least ill have rock band soon, Beatles rule!!!

  • Is there a video for this concert?

  • Not that I know of.

  • Ya gotta love the sixties...Love John's comment about the people being crushed up front --BTW if you aren't being crushed up front then it aint rock n roll--when he says, "that was wonderful!"

  • My wife was there!

  • That's awesome!! I love hearing great comments like yours! Thanks for watching!

  • @beatle608 my wife couldn't have been there. she was born in 1977. missed them by that much. the shame.

  • the performed this on my brothers birthdayy ha. wait thats todayy (: since its

    2:24 here

  • harp you love the cock

  • Ótimo audio, exelente show, gostaria de poder ter em cd comigo, amo os beatles! Marco Seffair - Brazil - Amazonas - Manaus

  • Back in the late 70s I bought a two album bootleg set of this concert. The day and the evening show. It was printed in Germany on the Ruthless Rhymes Ltd. label!

  • The Beatles strengths were clearly in songwriting, harmonies and their appeal to the ladies in that they were good looking lads. The Stones were a gritty, powerful, energetic band but nothing like as good songwriters or singers.

  • You must really drink Mick Jagger's cum. The Stones are nowhere near as revolutionary as The Beatles.

  • You realize that the Stones were big Beatle fans? They sat in on recordings and were even friends. So, if the Stones like Beatle music, you're saying that the Stones are deaf? Well, I guess they might be now..... but, you make an interesting argument.

  • Too bad statistics disagree with you. Sure, I'll accept the fact that I have the intellect of a bug. That just means you're less than a bug. Because I am clearly more knowledgeable about music. I don't care about your credentials so don't try and back yourself up. If you've ever listened to the Beatles, they changed the world. The Stones were the self-proclaimed "Greatest Rock Band." Keith Richards and Mick Jagger are fucking thieves and murderers. Get out of here with that nonsense.

  • So your saying that The Rolling Stones suck because they were beatles fans? You don't know anything do you?

  • they couldn't hardly hear themselves because of the technology they had for sound, and the fact that 30 some thousand girls are screaming as well.

  • what the hell is wrong with you

  • hahaha you're such an idiot its funny!!!!

  • Beatle divison XDXD

  • John Lennon "that was wunderful" after the Texas Gestapo balls out the youngsters in the front row....LOL!

  • John Lennon was awesome! I wish there was video of this....

  • hi could anybody PM me this?

  • I was there and now can tell this was the early show recalling the security bit plus Paul says as much before I'm Down. It was not even sold out. This audio is amazing considering, but they do sound exhausted at times, but still fab. George's guitar take on harpsichord solo on HDN is killer! YEAH YEAH YEAH

  • (It's not a harpsichord, it's a 12-string guitar)

  • Kyle, the original version of Hard Day's Night has a harpsichord solo which is why I said the "take" on guitar - a 12 string Ric, by George!

  • sounds like the live at the hollywood bowl albun to me ,even what they were saying

  • Yes their voices were ragged and they were tired and the show was only 35 min. and no encores but it WASNT the music we were interested in!

  • Priceless. Their music is like wine...it just gets better with age.

  • Wow I'd love to live in the 1960's.....

  • Yelp the Wierd Beard at his best or should I say his worst. Wonder if he is still alive? Dicky Rosenfeld - KILT manager died a number of years ago. I was there - on the FRONT ROW - and honey those FABS had a PhD in puberty!

  • word!

  • awesome!

  • which show was this from the day or night show because the beatles performed 2 shows in houston that day one during the day and one at night, this sounds like the day show to me.maybe i should post the other one.

  • I believe this is the day show.

  • i dont like people on youtube who go here to listen to bootlegs because they are to lazy or stupid to collect their own bootlegs of the beatles.i consider people who dont have a huge collection of the beatles bootlegs half ass amateur fans.because they are missing a huge piece of the beatles catalog.

  • Comment removed

  • no it isnt.the only people i hate more than u are the idiots who put up entire bootleg concerts for you half ass amatuer fans who are to lazy or to stupid or both to get ur own beatles bootlegs.

  • @jayfey77 Really? People like you really exists? Do you think your better than these people or something? WOW.

  • @jayfey77 Yes, Paul says it's "the first show" before they do I'm Down.

  • it seems like they are really enjoying playing together at this point? Outside of the "Announcement"....

  • man...Ringo could really play...pounding the drums...

  • KILT: "People are being hurt in the front 2 rows. The show will be stopped if you don't move back".

John: (sarcastically) "Thank you very much, that was WONDERFUL!" Heh-heh. John's humor.

  • Actually I was a little surprised at that- if it was really as bad as the guy said it was, it seems they should have been more concerned. But I guess they didn't want the show to be ruined.

  • damn i wish i was around in 1965! cause i live in San Antonio and its a five hour drive to houston but DAMN it would be worth it!!!!

  • The Beatles are incredible, legends in their own rights. Even as a supporter of modern rock and roll, these performances are tops in my eyes

  • I was there. My ticket is 411

  • Houston Security Beatle Division....LMAO

  • Man, they sound *exhausted!"

It has a weighty quality to it, it moves slowly, more rhythmically than the studio version.

  • I'm really down.

  • awesome. can't imagine what it would of been like to be there!

  • I sure wish I would of been there!
