They don't make games like this anymore. My first console was an N64, I was too young to have a SNES. A few years ago a SNES came into my possession along with this game and a couple of other games(2 Mario games & Alien). I mostly played this one. For me, it rivals modern games - good gameplay, touching storyline & great score. I guess I am a bit of a sucker for RPGs though. The only thing I didn't like was the ending. Not being able to skip through it also sucked.

I don't know why so many people talked crap about this game back then... Awesome gameplay along with a nice storyline and a kick-ass music, I think this game should be mentioned as one of the best SNES rpgs of all time.

@knightrave21 I agree. I recently passed this game on my emulator and is one of the best adventure and action RPGs that I've played. The gameplay and the music are great, but the storyline has some flaws and gaps IMO.

Why is it that all the rpg's back then ALWAYS had a creepy looking final boss....these days..you look at a final boss and it just doesn't have the "wow" factor that slams into you when you see them for the first time.

Illusion of Gaia is a lot like Crystalis for the NES. The final boss and ending are very similar.

I remember getting this game when it first came out! It even came with a cool t-shirt which I have long since outgrown.

When I was younger, the simple gameplay was enough to keep me entertained...but now that I'm older it just doesn't do the trick for me. I will say, however, that there are some really great moments in this game that have some really deep messages that most kids won't "get". For the most part, tho, the story and characters were kinda mediocre

This was the easiest boss fight in the game... the first fight was the second hardest, and the Vampires were the hardest.

I disagree with this being the easiest. The easiest was the one from the Sky Garden. Vampires were definitely the hardest bosses in the game though.

This whole game is really easy XD I can beat each boss with Will without using an herb (al bosses that you CAN use Will for) Dark gaias a chump, just spam the melt move to dodge everything

Oh my GOSH, I can't believe I never thought of using that water melt move. I sat there and caught a severe beat down trying to dodge those green homing energy blasts, eventually I won. I was shaking my head in disappointment of myself while watching this video.

You can just use will's telekinesis to block the green orbs without taking damage. You use the aura to block dark gaia's blast thingy/

the final boss was kind of a disappointment. Every boss before (esspecially the vampires) were pretty tough nuts to crack, and then this dyke comes along :/... just stand in the middle and hit away. Also, those two green orbs D.Gaia fires at you can be defended (R and L buttons).

Well I wouldn't go THAT far. The nr1,2,4 bosses were all extremely easy. But the Vampire couple gave me a lot of trouble when I used just Will (I had to transform into Freedan and use his dark friar). Though I admit the time limit on that bomb is annoying (it's a fricking dud!!!). The mummy Queen can also be annoying if you dont have a good strategy at first (and she has a lot of attacks that can hit you by accident).

But still.... Dark Gaia is just a joke.

A really ironic thing I've experienced is that my sister played this and found the vampires EASY and all the other bosses HARD. She'd ask me to beat all the other bosses for her.

I found the vampiress easy, to me the 1st boss and Dark Gaia are harder than the vampire, to kill the vampires I used freedan, I only ran to the vampiress and attacked until she dies, after I went to the vampire and killed him. All this in 40seconds. Now I'm trying to kill dark gaia

for the third red jewel, u have to visit all houses, and comming out from the house of one of the friends, understood?

the 50 jewels guy is easy to beat, get him to the left bridge, stay a bit left, then defent the left and middle fireball, the one right cant hit you if stand allright, denn just one hit, defense, one hit defense, 40 times... its easy...

The first time you become Shadow, you receive an item called the Aura that triggers the "melting" technique. Its original purpose is to descend through thin floors, but as you can see, it also has practical use in battle.
