  • 1:55, classy!

  • Two strings :)

  • Was that a 2 string bass><'?

  • @Corai12 yup

  • The wait for the next part is always so painful. Is there an ETA for part 4?

  • @LoveYoshiClan Not really, i wont be before i return to Sandberg in a month or so to adjust the prototype. You will however get some videos with the protype before that:-)

  • @MarloweDK Awesome! Thanks for the reply, too :)

  • @MarloweDK - wow dude, you must be very proud. Good on you man, and keep the vids comin. You taught me how to get funky!!!!

  • where is the 4th part? aaa im curious..

  • Getting your own signature bass... That's the dream. Congratulations.

  • Fake relicing some how cheapens the bass and the player.

  • Ok Men jeg glæder mig meget til den kommer. Synes det er spændende at følge med :-)

  • Hey MarloweDK Hvornår kommer part 4? :-) Rigtig mange tak for nogle fede videoer. Jeg har fået rigtig meget ud af dem :-)

  • @DennisVedel Det har nok lidt lange udsigter, det bliver først når jeg skal til Sandberg i det nye år for at rette et par småting på prototype bassen

  • I love my bass like I love my woman. And I wouldn't like a woman that looks old and used unless she has become old and used by me. For the rest: much respect for you and all the work you do for all the bassplayers in the world DK. Merry Xmas to you and may you enjoy this bass very much.

  • On second thoughts, I'm not a big fan of the stickers.....sorry guys. I personally think it looks better without them.

  • I really love this series of video's. Well done MarloweDK and Sandberg, I'm seriously thinking of buying a MarloweDK signature bass when it's finally released. Lookin goooooood :-)

  • Congratulations Marlowe :D enjoy it ; )

  • Great stuff and it'll be based upon your best looking bass too. Will you be going for the vintage fretboard radius? I like sandbergs, but their standard flat fingerboards are a huge turn off for me, I like the vintage fender curve..

  • What is the camera man doing at 2:30? haha!

  • Wow. I am loving this whole process. Sandberg make great basses. I must admit I love the finished results of the ageing process - road worn instruments have so much character - but I hate watching it happen. Its almost painful seeing someone beat up a perfect piece of wood. Bizarre!

  • what's the song name please?

  • @vladaOSOD The working title for the yet unreleased song is Do That Thing

  • The sticker on the front of the bass body could be used in the DK on the headstock. The K could like K<<<<. I cant make right on here, but that will give you an idea of what Im talking about if you are interested. Congrats on the bass.

  • @clewi1091 Interesting idea thx

  • "Bass face" :D

  • i'll just my basses age naturally...then it will have some character & story behind it

  • This is more exiting than a sitcom!

    Can't wait for part 4!

  • In the antiques trade, this is called 'applying a patina'. Anyone who ever watched the English TV series called Lovejoy, will recognize it. ;¬)

  • song name?

  • I love the way aged basses look.

  • I woul have chosen another color finish since you already have the same bass ! But great bass anyway you're really lucky

  • I was wincing all throughout this video. Inside I was going, "Nooo! Please stop! Dear Lord, please, make him stop!" I'm obviously in the opposite camp on this custom-aging issue. =)

One question that comes to mind is: would the worn-out, aged look reduce the chances of theft?

  • Next, the demo!!!

  • I like the used and abused look. It has served me well in the past. Kudos to you sir on the daunted task of creating such a fine specimen of a bass. It sounds great too. I have to admit without a doubt it's one of the best basses I've heard.

  • Sandberg, seem like good guys there ... interesting, looks like a red aged FenderDK ... or a Danish Faux-Fender ... looking forward to hearing you play this beast when it's finished :)

  • looks awesome man, whats the song thats playing?

  • ahaha that two string looked awsome

  • Sweet bass! Your own custom farout!

  • I prefer the Fender Headstock although your signature is really nice Thomas

(sadly fender wasn't knocking on your door!!)

  • I love the Sandberg stuff, but yeah, I never understand why people age their instruments. Age them naturally.

  • Awesome peghead!

  • I want to buy a other one of this signature series!

  • Marlowe why do you like bashed up basses !!! when i get i small ding on my basses i cry ohhh no lol i so pose it s personal taste i myself like a new shiny bass i think it does the bass more justice in the craftsmanship but that's me any way Marlowe good luck with you new axe i hope it lives up to your high standards .

  • but it really hurts to see a new bass treated like this. why not let the instrument age with time, let it earn its scrateches... :-)

  • great video, please keep it up!

  • Man... pre-aging a bass is a total art form. It looks great already!

  • I can really appreciate what you are doing. It's brilliant.

  • Is this bass going into production, or is it a one-off for you? I'd love to give one of them a try, it looks amazing, I bet it'll sound it too!

  • another question to sandberg ,,as your in sweeden ,, why dont you simply recycle basses or introduce a range of recycled instrument or parts? ,,its looks ecco unfriendly to see rich people trying to make their products look second hand ,my bass cost 35 pounds i cant afford a New Bass if you fathom my drift ,,,so you named your bass the red barron ,,i wonder voltz ,,the red imperial player ponders ,, ??,, did you work on any of the aolian fractions yet?

    Ab perhaps ,,

  • Far better job than fender road worn series.Sandberg company has a growing reputation and let's hope they will keep their top quality standards of handmade instruments.

Fender instruments are really too expensive considering the way they are made...even if I have one lol

  • I want a 2 string now. Thus I will have a 50/50 chance to hit the correct string while playing :)

  • GAAAHHH!!!! I love these videos. it's so mesmerizing watching a bass guitar being made!

  • 25th!

  • Very cool. Like a kid at the candy store, MDK. :P Looks sweet; got that Sting bass aged thing happening. I'm happy for ya! :D

  • aww...the intro music in this 3 videos is so funkyyyyyy. cant wait for the album

  • Cool bass man! Many congrats to you!

  • Haha that looks a bit too aged for me, but I guess its a preference driven process :)

  • I came here to see a bass being made. Looks more like a bass being wrecked. I understand some people like that sort of thing, but it's not for me. I take care of my instruments and when I pick out a new one I want it to look new and shiny like the eyes of a puppy begging you to bring him home with you.

  • epic bass face haha

  • that and a lot of musicians perfer vintage basses for the sound..so if they copy the look maybe it can pass for a vintage bass made before..hmm..1970 or so? This isn't the route I would take but I know my custom Mike Lull bass will sound better and better through the years..that's why it's the ONLY instrument I'll ever need.

  • I didn't know there's a two-string bass. Hahahaha!

  • The Bass is fine, but what albums have you put out, and when can we hear the latest?

  • wie viel für der bass?

  • Why in the hell do you want a fake-aged bass? - don't get it.

  • @elbowrinkles Never got it either.

  • @elbowrinkles the same reason people buy jeans with holes in them I guess

  • @jr0014 You're right but I can't understand them neither

  • @jr0014 Very nice answer... LOL

  • @elbowrinkles If you want the feel of an aged bass but you dont want to wait a good 30-50 years to get it how you like haha

  • @elbowrinkles Probably because he has all possible basses except the fake-aged one?

  • @elbowrinkles Its based roughly on the specs and looks of one of my older favorite basses, and since the guys at Sandberg are good at relicing I thought it could be fun to make it look like that. Dont dispair, you will be able to buy it new and shiny if thats your preference;-)

  • @MarloweDK dear Marlowek, your skills come together with the bass too?

  • @MarloweDK

actually i like the relic basses more than the normal ones. In my opinion they swing with more freedom than basses with fat finish.

  • @elbowrinkles It's his bass. He can have it any any he wants it...

  • @iamasmodai thanks for pointing out the unknown Captain Obvious

  • @hekoka Right on, Captain Oblivious...

  • @elbowrinkles

How is it fake? It's not artificial scratches, or dents, or tobacco stains, it's just accelerated. A lot of us like the look of aged basses, but we don't want to wait 50 years to have one.

  • @elbowrinkles Well, sometimes instruments that look old and worn tend to give it character, like it's been through hell and back and still sounds damn good.

  • Slappa de baise, very naice :D

  • Wait. Is that a apple-logo as a scratchmark at the rear pick up?

  • I'm gonna buy one of those when I can afford one.

  • can't wait for next part

  • Why must everything be hit with a rock! Is nothing sacred? D;

  • Yay I got 1st! xD

  • @TheUberOwl No you did not!

  • What's the intro? Is it made by your band?
