  • she got it perfectly

  • I LOVE her laugh!

Thanks for posting this video. Hearing her delve so far into Tatyana's psyche is just awesome; it also makes watching her performance even more enjoyable.

  • She has deep understanding of Tatiana's personality! She is so intelligent and charming person!

  • Thank you for this fascinating conversation between two legendary American divas. What articulate and personable women.

  • She is my FAVORITE soprano ever! And I would also like to say that I like you user name. As in Tchaikovsky?

  • I'm not always a fan of Ms. Fleming's singing, but she is remarkably astute, down-to-earth, and makes for a great interview.

  • Love you Renee! Onegin is one of my absolute favorite operas and it's so interesting to listen to her talking about it. She's amazing in this opera; there is such artistry and understanding of the role. Thanks for sharing!

  • yea, she likes to say "book worm" LOL!

  • I love how Renée says that Tatyana is a "Bookworm". If you see her interview here on youtube, she describes herself as a child like a "bookworm". I made such a stupid smile when listening to this... i love Renée, and she simply doesn't act like a Primma Dona, wich is wonderfull!

  • @Tiagoerg I did the same thing! Hahaha :)

  • Beverly Sills was Russian!?

  • yes, indeed its a surprise. Her parents were Jewish immigrants from Romania, but she was raised in Brooklyn at a very early age

  • Sills' mother was from Russia.

  • wow thanx soooo much for posting this!!

  • Sem achar que são cantoras "históricas", como a Callas e a Ponselle, eu, no geral, gosto bastante das duas.

  • thanks for posting this!

  • Tatyana sounds just like Belle from Beauty and the Beast lol.

  • Renee's Tatiana breaks my heart. I own the DVD of her singing the role with Dmitri Hvorostovsky. She has absolutely brought Tatiana to life, and I honestly believe it's one of her best roles.

  • Renée is amazing in Onegin... love that interview!

And good to see the late great Ms Sills.. she is missed.

er um.. I disagree with OperaSnob.

    thanks for posting

    I also disagree with OperaSnob

  • I believe she speaks in earnest, and has a deep understanding of the role and sincere love for Russian. Where is this russophobia coming from? One may like or dislike her interpretations, but she is a serious and committed artist. I have seen her onstage in opera and recital, and her Italian, French, German, and Russian are easily understood. I can't comment on her Czech (Rusalka), as I don't speak that language.

  • I love this!!! Thank you SO much for posting.

  • I'm sorry clearly you are unaware that she has done the role of tatiana many time very well
