It depends what your budget is mate, trials bikes weren't bad on price for spec a few years ago, now the cheapest new bike on the market is Onza at about £300, they are brilliant starter bikes but not everyone has that kind of money (and back in the day you got much more of a bike for that).
Best thing is to look around second hand, anything Onza or Monty is bound to be cheap and thats all you need for a starter bike.
