Wow! I was very intrigued with this film. My Mandarin (language) teacher that's a Taiwanese native showed this film to us. When I spoke of this to another acquaintance that's Taiwanese, her face lit up. This story, for it or how it is known within circles has been a warm welcome of encouragement for others (American and non) to go see. Hopefully there will be other like movies about this sort of thing (untold stories) to come in the future. Interesting to see that it was really shot in Bangkok.
Formosa Foundation is promoting the movie which demonstrated they invested a lot of money in this film. Formosa Foundation is Chen Shui-Bian's pet organization. Chen scamed money from poor Taiwanese farmers and accepted bribe from rich business men.
It's very possible that James van der beek is spending Chen's dirty money now. Since James spend money watching a Cardinal's game. Local people over there in Saint Louis is receiving dirty pay check.
This is the financial flow of this movie: Rich Taiwanese business men --> bribery of Chen Shui-bian --> Formosa foundation --> Oversea pro-ti groups --> Will Tiao --> James Van Der Beek
James Van Der Beek is currently using dirty money. This is more interesting than the movie.
Who betrays you if not yourselves and your day-dreams?
When you had some chance to prove yourselves for eight years, just look at how it ended with your Tucheng Jail Inmate #2185 (the former ah-Bian)!
Remain in the States, Taiwan is a province of China we, the Chinese Nationalist Party, recovered from Japan in 1945 and will keep it forever on behalf of the Chinese nation, only to hand to another government of China, be it Mainland-based, when time comes.
I saw this film late last summer in New York at the pre-screening. It is very riveting. Being a white American born into a Democratic system, I can't understand the corruption that still occurs in Taiwan regarding the Chinese government. It is unacceptable from a human being standpoint. On a brighter note, Tzi Ma was very funny afterward in the Q and A.
@Marksad14 Glad you went to see the movie. The story of Taiwan has been one neglected by the world for too long. The comment above yours is a prime example of the kind of arrogance and prejudice toward the Taiwanese that still exists today.
