as for your answer:

that is because the original version was incomplete and the author is still working on it.

thus the added 'features'... the author however is only a programmer so he only works on the code part and ignores the model... hence the ugly simply model...

someone else needs to code the model part

The helicopter in this mod looks a little funny but I have used it and the heli is really useful for getting to places quicker and its easy to craft,who knows it might be even useful in the ender realm to deafeat the enderdragon when minecraft updates

You can shoot with strg and with shift and c you shoot missels than with space you fly up and with shift you fly down and with w, a, s and d you can fly around like with the normal player but I still not knowing how to get out of the helicopter

i like the mod could use with a re-texturing and maybe change the explosive shot into just arrows to make it less creeper friendly. because right now its ridiculously overpowered. overall not bad -if you can only use textures already in minecraft, make the floor glass, and make then sides and top wood.-

I found a glitch make three of them put two beside eachother and then shoot them with rockets they will turn hostile and come to life.
