  • This is beautiful, I just wish that harmonica had pierced through the air in that intro... would have sent shivers down my spine. Well, actually it still did. :)

  • Would love to know what piano sound he's using....

  • Amazing song and Im sure the Rodger deserves all the credit for writng and creating it, I have to say it sounds thin compared to the original the rest of the band really helps to fill it out. They are sadly missed

  • What a great song this is.

  • Supertramp & 10cc should both reform and do a world tour.

  • Very good..........I tell you what. they don't make music like this anymore!

  • A real musician is always nice to hear...

  • The "real" talent of Supertramp shines through !

  • brings back memories(of my childhood). Some don't appricate the uh "Long Years" of martian chronicles either or the heart and soul put into a project and do nothing but beep and bark yet I remember when people had admirers and admired too.

  • Taking the long way home has so many possible interpretations... I think it's the only way to discover who you really are (Know Who You Are). Roger's guitar playing has been so undervalued. A 12-string in his hand and it's absolute bliss and perfection (C'est Le Bon, Even In The Quietest Moments). His guitar is never out of tune, not even a little bit (excuse the pun). What I would give to be able to play that instrument! You are truly wonderful, Roger. Thanks for everything!

  • SUBLIME!

  • la mejor cancion de supertramp sin duda mi preferida

  • the harmonic take the long way home! :-&,anyway the song its brilliant...one of my favourites

  • this peace of art makes me go to heaven and tremble traveling somewhere in time... just when it gets to the chorus part... sooo beautiful, soo great memories...

  • 16 people got stuck in the evolution process and never made it all the way to the human state.

  • I love you and your music!

  • Roger you are the best........

  • James May was in Supertramp???

  • used to hear this song on the radio and loved it then... didn't realize how amazing the lyrics were at the time...

  • Love Roger Hodgson!!!!

  • 16 people couldnt afford the gasoline to take the long way home ^^

  • Everyone gather round! If you have a facebook, which everyone on youtube surely does, go to this page. 'We want the Supertramp DVD "Paris 1979" to be released for the 70-10 Tour' and LIKE IT!

  • accept that not everyone will like this music... all kinds of people, all kinds of oppinions.

  • J'ADORE!!!!!

  • There are only old people in the public... Sigh...

  • Rodger is such a pimp. This song is real and i appreciate real music just like every single person in that audience. 16 dumbasses took the shortcut home..

  • 15 people didnt take the long way home

  • 15 people who don't know jack shiznit when it comes to great music.

  • Best singer to ever roam the earth.

  • Our local college radio station played this today, it was so out of place but so awesome. I proceeded to take the long way home from school. : )

  • I am a big Hodgson fan, and yes this is very nice. But I saw a comment below that said John Helliwell's sax is missing. I'd like to extend that out to Rick Davies' harmonica, Bob Siebenberg's drums and Dougie Thomson's bass. These men made Supertramp too.

  • @smakmybitchup341

    Exept for Rai music

  • God Bless Roger

  • Well done - John Helliwell is missing with his Sax..

  • 13 people took the short way home.

  • @Manu112345 HA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Manu112345 16 people took the short bus

  • @misredkimmy lol

  • @Manu112345 - & got hopelessly lost

  • Let me ask you something my friend, "Does it feel that your life's become a catastrophe? Oh, it has to be - for you to grow, boy."

The incisive questions that make you throw out all your assumptions about life and go back to the drawing board...again.

  • i m born 70,i i likeeee,....very goooood.

  • I see Dick and Liz Cheney at this performance. Next to Liz Cheney is Tipper Gore. Anyone know who the lady is next to Dick?

  • God I love this song, & I love how much the dude at :30 is into it, he is just basking in the awesomeness XD

  • Maravilhoso...eita tempinho bão sô!!!!!!

  • 1000th like!!!!

  • I'm gonna click Like 6 more times cause I think the ratio should be at least 1000:13

  • Long girls hair on 60 yr old men and puffy shirts could come back. Hang in there.

  • É só emoção ouvir suas interprestações. Este nasceu literalmente pra cantar e encantar.

  • he seem so happy

  • Awesome performance! Amazing!

  • aside from the fact that he's an amazing singer, he also looks like a genuinely nice guy who really enjoys his music. that's a rare thing and makes me appreciate him more :)

  • i need to learn that piano part....

  • Used to hear this song on the radio a few years back and loved it... always wondered what he actually meant by taking the long way home.... kind of thought that he meant to think about what's important in life and make sure you stay true to who you are.

  • @CatboxDesign Maybe not be so much in a hurry, look all around you, be in the moment.

  • @CatboxDesign YES!!!!

  • Beautiful!

  • great song great music

  • LOVE THIS! <3

  • this is musical genius and a pleasure to listen too.

  • Bravo Roger!

  • The like and dislike buttons are too close to each other. :) That would answer the result of 12 people.

Or they don't have ears, and became angry. :)

    Maybe...

  • Supertramp Rawks with this song....... time flies where'd they go???

  • Unsurpassed ! The Super Seventies !!

  • WAKE UP YOU YOUNGER GENERATION. BAGGY PANTS BELOW THE WASTE MY BE COOL BUT WHAT DOES IT STAND FOR? VIOLENCE? RAGE? GANGSTER? NOTHING NEW AND SO DISTORTED. THIS GUY PRACTICED, RARE THESE DAYS. ALL COPY CATS OF WHAT ONCE WAS,!

  • Hooray !

  • hOORay !

  • Jezus is back!

  • Gee- Jesus got old.

  • Beautiful song, beautiful arrangement, beautifully sung, but damn if he isn't as ugly as Mrs. Doubtfire!

  • @Alikah1 Thanks for that horrible mental image. Now i have to burn that outta my mind with some good herb.

  • @unclebob100 Probably not a bad idea in any case!

  • I see 10 ppl that need to drop what there doing, burn all music in the world and never listen another record again in there life.

  • I think Roger is doing a great job... When I first saw this I was amazed that he could do a whole concert by himself (minus that saxophone guy)... He has alot of talent

  • if god ever made a band it would be supertramp, roger literally looks like jesus-incarnate

  • Memories almost makes me cry!!!

  • Probably the classiest musician on this planet.

  • I really love these songs but I think Roger does it a disservice not including many of the back up instruments from the original song. This song is really good, but without the harmonicas, it's just not classic as it should be.

As far as what Supertramp is doing now, touring without Roger, their new singer is just awful. Really hope they can get together, I would by tickets...

  • roger...u are a true god.

  • what a deep song..

  • One of the most underrated bands...ever. Supertramp was *so* good...

  • FUCK VEVO!

  • hate to say it, but Supertramp is hollow without Roger Hodgeson...I've seen them a few times without him and it is just not even close to the same

  • COME TAKE A LOOK A TOUR BAND : JUST TYPE ‘’OVERHEAD-MUZ’’ ON MYSPACE. THANKS !!!

  • 9 people must have unfortunate ear disorders

  • his voice has not deteriorated over the years at all.

  • this song makes me cry ........i feel this music in my heart :) love supertramp xx

  • That album you are thinking of was a compilation by A&M called "20th Century Masters" or something like that. The record company had a series of them with that title for various groups. There are a few newer compilations that exist now if you're looking for one.

  • I used to listen to this song on my old walkman (until the tape snapped) on my way home from work. The bus journey was a 2 hour trek. I even had to turn the tape over twice before I got home. Somehow this was always the last song before my stop so I associate it with finally getting home! Good times. :D

I can't remember the name of the album but it's got a picture of a guy sitting on a train holding a book and he has no face but his face is on the cover of the book.

    Anyone know it?

  • @thewitchypoo3003 this album is " the autobiography of Supertramp " but it's a compilation not a studio album

  • @Scarfesses1 Ahh cheers :)

  • Procuro uma música sem o vocal do SUPERTRAMP( Só tocada com sax), por não saber o nome eu peço ajuda...

  • ► be larger than the simple holographic projection of our future and introversion that merely wrap, be real. The dream can become reality.

  • Take the long way hone to your external energy world (not inside TV show!)....

    Peace and LOVE !

  • Roger Hodgson sings and plays the keyboard better than everyone! He is great!

    Greetings from Germany! :)

  • @MaxWiese Guten Tag Max! Stationed in Deutschland in the 80's and enjoyed the place! Wie gehts! Not sure on the spelling.

  • @calditz1 Hallo calditz1! :) where was it in germany?

  • @MaxWiese ... My German isn't that good anymore, but I will try "auf Munchen". ;) In Munich in case my German is horrible. Loved the country and the people.

  • BRAVO ROGER...TIMELESS

  • This is the song that got me interested in Rock and Roll! May it live long and conquer!

  • brilliant

  • I grew up listening to him, and moody blues =) I'm 16 years old, and I even know justin B- is shit compared to them. It's time for things to change!!!

  • Roger has such a great repertoire...great for new fans...there's so much to explore!.. : )

  • This was just fantastic. A lot of memories in this song.

  • The Super Seventies !

  • dammned fucking good song man

  • brilliant song and song writter thanks roger

  • Master !!

  • I lost my hope to see another musician like him... :(~

  • roll on summer

  • we played this song so much lol take the long way home its a theme song

  • It's great to see so many younger people at that concert. Most were not even alive when this song first came out. He's still great!

  • 9 people took a short way home

  • wtf no hamronicha at start =9

  • he looks like the guy from top gear

  • In early 1975 I was at Swansea University, feeling ill and a friend told me about a band that was on that night. I staggered into the small union bar part way 'Bloody Well Right' and thought 'what the hell?' The concert was absolutely fabulous and it kicked off a life long love of this band. Roger's one of the great unsung heroes.

  • Yaaay! I went to this show! It's the one in montreal <3 I have this DVD at home too ^^ and it was my first concert ever too (I'm 16 now). I loved it alot.

  • Dude plays guitar and keyboards, only the best can do that

  • Love it. I can't type any more.

  • Saw them twice in '83 and at Kings Walk, Hyde Park, ''04? 46 years old and every album on vinyl....will never be beat. Every song pure class!!!

  • I bet that Jesus Himself listens to 70's rock, and prefers it to metal, rap, and pop music.

Bands like Supertramp, Boston, Journey, Pink Floyd, Alan Parsons Project, etc

etc are basically proof of God and His goodness. People wouldn't be able to make such beautiful sounds without Divine Grace.

This music probably kept us from getting nuked in the 80's.

Nowadays, the music industry is evil to the core. All they put out is music that promotes violence, fornication, drugs, hate, and apathy.
