I feel like they've lost touch with the ability to make characters you can relate to. Not going to judge but you look at the way things have come. Part of the intrigue of say, SH2 was that James was an ordinary guy and through the monsters and the story you learn that he's not ordinary, but actually quite deranged. Now we've had a soldier who's murdered people in wars and a fugitive.. yeah, like we can't tell-something- is wrong with his past. Character discovery is almost dying in the SH series

i think the game will be good, not scary but good.I dont know why people hated SH5,yea its not like the rest of SH you dont get thet feeling of dread ad nit didnt have that SH creepy atmosphere but it was a fun game.I love every SH game expecialy SH4(the best of the SH series).For The SH movie i loved it, yea it had nothing to do whit the game but it was briliant just needed to be a little more scary and it woud have been perfect this way its more of a triler then a horror movie.

well I expect more from Silent Hill this time...personally, I DID like Silent Hill 1,2 and 3...the others weren't so good, in SH4 I didn't like the inventory system and the camera...SH: Homecoming had a nice "nightmare world-real world" transition effect BUT ruined it with the "cult guys" enemies and the "I'm gonna kick your ass" fighting style and I didn't play Shattered memories because it doesn't even call my attention...I miss the original Silent Hills DD: sorry for the long comment D:
One of the scariest aspects of the game play was always dreading the next fight, knowing your character is a slow, clumsy idiot swinging a 2x4 lol, but they even ruined that in Homecoming giving an unnecessary upgrade to the fighting system, and the mere fact that not even Akira Yamaoka (composer) has anything to do with SH8 gives me reason enough to expect yet another floating turd of a game.
@TherapistV Homecoming wasnt bad lol. Well the combat did get easier it was still scary. Considering enemies were tougher and SH enemies before then were always easy simple creatures. Homecoming had a decent story. It just had to many movie references please get better taste.

now that the guy doing music for dexter is in this, and it looks freaky now, ive always cherished silent hill, excluding the (wii) game, i think ill enjoy this one

Maybe this new composer won't do too bad a job. I just pulled up his IMDB file. He's done some great work.
It'll still be a shame that Akira Yamoka won't be doing it but still they have found a suitable, NOT GREAT, but suitable replacement.

I just love Silent Hill...all of them (some more, like Silent Hill 1 and Homecoming...others less like Shattered Memories...).
The story is intersting, like always. A perfect game to play alone, and in the dark.
The graphics looks a lot like Alan Wake...but only better.
So sad the composer ain't the same, but I like new additions. Just like the improved combat with those cool fatalities and dodge button.
CAN'T WAIT TO PLAY THIS ONE.
