  • HST didn't shy away from anyone who disagreed with him - in fact he THRIVED on debate. He felt that a profoundly inherent American characteristic is diversity. The man drank whiskey with Pat Buchanan for chrissakes and he did it on purpose. If you look at his roster of friends they are the most diverse set of folks you could ever imagine. He was not on Charlie Rose by accident, guys.

  • Am I the only one who has no idea what he's saying?

  • Charlie Rose unzips his costume in this. Fucking swine.

  • two sides of that table. on one side sat everything that was right about journalism, and the other represents the corporate government yes-men who took over. charlie rose is an obedient puppet, hack journalist, and a scumbag.

  • I too am appalled by what Charlie Rose said, but then again he only exists in some alternate world of nothingness or the edge of the universe with only a table and a camera owned by public broadcasting

  • rose really couldnt have been any sleazier or more oily with this. as hes spouting his silliness hunter sits quietly which spurs him to spill , hear me out now! and when he senses no conquest on that first leg he sneaks in an "How's Your Health!???" Jeeze....jealousyyyy hahaha

  • Charlie Rose fails to uphold any journalistic standards or integrity. Vested interests have added him to their payrolls. Thompson barely gets a word in and no productive discussion comes from this interview, just an ego boost for Charlie Rose.

  • Hunter thinks way better than dumbass Charlie Rose

  • this is the first time that to me charlie looks like a pupet, i questioned his motives in this interview. hes trying to handle him so hard. i think he felt out of his element with hunter.

  • FUCK YOU CHARLIE OUR CONTINENT HAS OIL TO BURN FOR 400 YEARS LET THEM POUND SAND!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i want some of whats in his coffee mug.

  • Oh no it's not about oil eh Charlie Numbnuts. What a clown.

  • Charlie Rose..You stupid corporate placeman cocksucker...

  • Wouldn't one love to hear Charlie Rose's take on the war from the perspective 2011, when the VAST majority of Americans agree, and have for years now, that the wars were an egregious mistake and tragedy. We were hypnotized back then, by extraordinary levels of hyped up fear perpetrated by W and Rumsfeld et al. Remember the color coded bullshit 'terror alert' system? One of the saddest chapters in our history.

  • Even Alan Greenspan spilled the beans: It's about Oil. Always has been in Iraq.

  • This fucking asshole of an interviewer is really trying his best to ridicule and condescend on Hunter. His phony laugh and low blows are just disgusting to watch. If that guy had done and seen half of Hunter's life he would be a crippled nervous wreck, not some slick shithead trying to get himself a name by one-upping a legend. Fuck you, and RIP Hunter.

  • 100% oil. Don't deny it or you're a dumbass

  • Saddam was a Genocidist...he needed to be removed...there are still a few in the World...removing him sends the right message, very costly though

  • @theflorgeormix Creating a false reason for removing Saddam and pulling troops away from a warzone where an enemy that actually attacked America was operating sends the wrong message about America. Going into a war in which you are going to strip a country of its government without any real plan for creating a new government or providing any sort of stability for the folks we were "liberating" (which was exactly the case in 2003) doesn't send the right message, either.

  • @gturner38 its a balance, the world after WWII has had a bunch of totalitarian societies crop up, starting with Stalin's Russia, Saddam was a Psycho Capable of anything...the World is currently a better place

  • @theflorgeormix You don't stop genocide by starting a war

  • @IndicaDreaming I agree totally, and Democracies don't attack each other, responsible use of resources for the good of humankind - not to blackmail humankind is probably a little better

  • I agree with bostonrocker69 that Charlie is a spineless whore for his job position, he now might be talking more about the insanity of the U.S. State Dept but only because other people have came out before him talking honestly....

  • Iraq didn't support terrorist. Why couldn't we have just taken care of Bin Laden and been done with it.

  • @adlopez415 because saddam was in the process of stopping selling his

oil for "dollars" just like gadaffi in Libya was planning and look what's

happened there ..connect the dots and look at the bigger picture

  • Lol...not about oil...its fun to look back.

  • I don't know, but I think, think that is that what HST was talking a bit about was the idea that no one was allowed to criticize the Iraq war. I remeber all that bullshit about calling them 'Freedom Fries' I mean, for Christ's sake, thatdoes sound a bit like a Kingdom of Fear. Rewind to the McCarthy era and smile smile smile. Freedom of Speech, somwhere in the constitution. Only just my impression and all.

  • "This is not about oil!, This is not about oil. Oil may be part of it" ASS

  • Charlie Rose SUCKS

  • Hunter knew what was up with the oil game way before regular people knew the whole thing was about to fall over

  • Charlie is Bloomberg's Bitch......

  • Furthermore, Rose was right when he said that oil is only a part of the deal. Iraq is a member of OPEC and removing an unpredictable dictator does a lot to stabilize oil prices and ensure a stable price of oil. Hunter was right to tell him that oil and power are relatively synonymous, but there was so much more than oil and power. Saddam had invaded neighboring states, committed genocide, and experimented with WMDs; all of which are grounds for loss of sovereignty. Shame we didnt finish it in 91

  • If someone had a discussion with Hunter S. Thompson and did nothing but agree and pander to him, Hunter would be bored and disappointed. Thompson enjoyed speaking with people he disagreed with (Pat Buchanan for example). If you think anyone who contradicts Hunter Thompsons aggressive style of expression (especially a job damn journalist) then you must think that Hunter Thompson is some kind of irrefutable prophet. This is nothing but the shameful worship of a merely honest human being. Fuck you

  • ur all a bunch of dumbasses

  • I guess the time has shown that Hunter was right about the war on Iraq. Or well... Maybe it was about power, also. But what he says about fear... It was about that, pretty much. Otherwise, Rose is doing a good job.

  • Charlie Rose is another fine example of just how stupid the American media has become. He is one of the worst least talented interviewers ever to be given a forum. Amazing he makes more than the president and yet, aside from bush, he's the biggest idiot ever to be allowed on TV, ok O'Reilly too. Rose asks about seven questions at once and the show is mostly his stupid talk he doesn't let the guest speak. What a joke. He sucks. Bob Costa was great at this. Rose is a slut + It was about oil! ass

  • great video, H.S.T was an interesting man

  • God I love Hunter S what a fantastic man!

  • this was about oil you idiot !

    R.I.P Hunter

    A Great American !

  • Rose is a good guy, he was making discussion.

  • Charlie Rose, Phil Donohue.... blah blah blah.... shut the fuck up, they are all talking heads, we are all watching this video for the same reason, HST! Obviously none of the Thompson-heads aren't going to agree with this cum dumpster Charlie rose.

  • that interviewer is a dickhead... shut up... "its about power" what the fuck are you talking about its about oil... the wars are a joke no liberation... just killing in the name of money

  • @rabsanchez

    i agree.

When was this recorded and who is that pillock interviewer ?

  • You're obviously American, Samboni. The whole rest of the world was saying those things in 2001. We're still not sure how it took you so long to see it, but our guesses aren't flattering.

  • Hunter's clarity and foresight was incredible, he was saying things in 2001 I didn't start hearing from most people until 2006

  • thanks hunterbiter.

its sad that even here, in Amsterdam, we are living in the kingdom off fear.

    God mercy on us swine.

  • Charlie Rose is such a shameless corporate whore. Defend those oil companies, bitch!

  • Whatever floats your boat, chief. If you don't get it I'm not going to be able to explain it to you.

  • Fair ENOUGH.....

  • aaw maan...was he right..HST that is..and not the stupid guy asking the the stupidest questions I've ever heard...who is that jerk?

  • charlie rose...

  • Hes giving the counter point to Dr Thompson as a form of getting him to give detail.

Phil Donahue did it all the time.

  • Thanks! I agree! The main point is how HST replies to his questions - and the questions provoke some pretty good answers which is the main point of asking questions anyways. I draw back my reference to a jerk.

  • and phil donahue was an awesome interviewer same as charlie rose. these people are retarded. since they are nothing but ass kissing man worshipers they figure the guy interviewing should be also. most of these people dont understand points, much less counterpoints.

HST was an awesome writer and a great thinker. the two should be separated and no one should think hes a great thinker simply because he wrote some good books.

  • When you put great thoughts in "good books" I would say that makes you a great thinker. It's a perceptive argument that nobody could win. Why put it in the comments?

  • because comments arent just arguments that someone can win rather they are comments. you are right, however, people who put the thoughts in book form are most times referred to as "writers", this may be a foreign concept to you but you will have to trust me on it. most of the times "thinkers" are referred to people who are philosophers, ethicists or someone who bestows some sort of wisdom. does writing require thoughts and thinking, of course, but youre looking at it literally.

  • besides, i said he was a great thinker. what are you wanting to argue about?

  • seriously, legend that was HST. He lives on in the part of all of us that sees injustice. my hero in more ways than one.

  • @HippyHobbit very well said!!!

  • "I'll be the best dressed man on some sort of volleyball gym." lol

thanks for these uploads= hunterbiter loved it
