Well said circuitboy. And the problem is reciprocal, with Bway songwriters penning songs that have people belting (screaming) high E's and F's. Judy Garland actually had a small range. She was a contralto. But the richness, the tones, and the feeling in her voice have never been equaled.

One thing to note in this beautiful style of singing is that these supreme artists use their superior instruments to serve the song. The song is not there to serve the singers... as is the case for today's yelling that passes for singing (I call it the "American Idolization" of music). One of the reasons today's music doesn't have the beutiful melodies of past eras is that today's singers would butcher these types of songs in an effort to impress. Thank You for posting this TRUE ART.
