for sharing it as a favorite. I actually remember watching this on TV. Barbra Streisand and Judy Garland had incredible talent. They gave so many people joy from their musical performances.
I could either take an anti-depressant, or watch this clip; I choose to watch the clip. I wish that the same profound, existential joy that Judy brings to so many people had been accessible to her. She's saved my (inner) life many a time, and seeing these two dames together, well, it does wonders for the soul! Thanks for this!
Here here. You are so correct. Thanks for posting the truth, at least in my artistic humble opinion. They used their voice to tell a story /convey a heart-felt emotion...from the depth of their soul...not much extra fanfare was needed..
I keep watching 2:52 over and over. I love when Barbra hits that amazing note and a smile comes across Judy's face. This is just awesome. Love love love. :)
Well said circuitboy. And the problem is reciprocal, with Bway songwriters penning songs that have people belting (screaming) high E's and F's. Judy Garland actually had a small range. She was a contralto. But the richness, the tones, and the feeling in her voice have never been equaled.
One thing to note in this beautiful style of singing is that these supreme artists use their superior instruments to serve the song. The song is not there to serve the singers... as is the case for today's yelling that passes for singing (I call it the "American Idolization" of music). One of the reasons today's music doesn't have the beutiful melodies of past eras is that today's singers would butcher these types of songs in an effort to impress. Thank You for posting this TRUE ART.
Awsum I love this duet. Please please pose the two of them singing the duet Hooray for Love and How About You!I think its that. Anywaz luv this performance. Go Judy
