  • Fat boy slim is not rave music. Fact.

  • *FUCK rave GO GOA

  • I <3 how he speaks for Americans burning out and moving on :| (That was sarcasm) I have been dancing-- did the brief using, grew up, still love the music-- almost thirty and teaching my daughter (who's 5) to pop n lock-- she especially loves house and DnB. I am a years 10+'er-- so how about you interview some old heads from America rather than have someone else speak for them??

  • not as good as british rave scene

  • old geEzErs.

  • My FIRST party was "The Great American Smoke Out 420 Party in like '96 I believe. At Route 66 roller rink in Dolton(Southside of CHicago)and............holly shit did I find what I had been looking for my whole life up to that very point! And I have NEVER stopped loving those memories! And I still love and listen to the music...DAILY! U guys were my FAM!And I will always love u...even tho I'm now 31years old and growing up.But yes,the music NEVER died for me!PLUR lovin baby!

  • wheres the fucking raves at in NJ seriously

  • @LeoF3500K Theres raves every other weekend man! Look up forums online and look for yourself! Regardless the east coast rave scene is one to travel...dig some raves in New York, Baltimore, or Philly when ya have time...Its always fun to explore! =)

  • That British guy makes some valid points at first with edm exposure but he's way off when he says Americans are only in it for the drugs that's bullshit.. There's something about loud bangin' electronic music and grooving to it with a bunch of people who have left their judgments at the front door that makes it a beautiful night. Ya the drugs can be fun, but I know so many that rage it sober including myself a lot of the time. Music and dancing ohhhh yes! ılıll̲̅̅●̲̲̅̅̅̅=̲̲̅̅̅̅●̲̅̅llılı ♪♪

  • @itsfurry i think he meant dance music, overall over every plain in society as opposed to maybe pockets in american cities and society

  • someone want to mentor me on raving or rave culture. its something im interested in learning about and possibly participating in

  • When was this shot?

  • hey what was the ending music track?

  • @maazi143 fatboy slim right here right now

  • 2:09 RIGHT ON!

  • the party at madison square garden was electric circus throw by the creator,if u dont know what you are talking about or have something negative to say keep your trap shut..

  • i live in america, i listened to daft punk in elementry

every1 in this damn world stereotypes so hardcore

  • Been to a couple of the raves that they had fliers for there at the end!

  • Isnt a rave kind of like church?

  • That's the problem: that rave culture in America is almost synonymous with Ecstasy. Sure there are some people that go for the music, like me, but most don't. Because of that it's earned a bad wrap, which it deserves mostly, and people that actually want to go just to dance, feel the vibes, and music get shorthanded. Sure E is fun, but in the end just messes you up and deprives you of a real rave experience. Someone needs to start an E free rave scene

  • @teagan73191 why cant i love rave music and ecstasy? its not a necessity...just something i and other people enjoy. like sex. you dont have to, but why the fuck wouldnt you??

  • @teagan73191 why cant i love rave music and ecstasy? its not a necessity...just something i and other people enjoy. like sex. you dont have to, but why the fuck wouldnt you??

you do your thing, well do ours. we can still party together! ill still rave with your sober ass :p

  • 60s - was psychadelic/woodstock/LSD stuff

    70s - was disco/studio54 type/ more drugs & funk scene

    80s - was New Wave/Punk & Hair bands scene

90s- was Raves/Underground Hip Hop clubs

2000s- was mostly a Hip Hop/Pop Club Scene

    2010s - we'll have to find out!!

  • haha "The Drugs "

  • fck this shit the music is amazing i go to both clubs and raves sober and i love it

  • Ill LEt the Drugs Burn Out BUt Never the music which i was always in it for the drugs showed up like 3 raves into my life lol..

  • Haha raves are fucking gay

  • @MegaWhiteMan420 mean :{

  • @MegaWhiteMan420 somebody listens to lil wayne all day

  • @MegaWhiteMan420 Because hundred, sometimes thousands, of attractive women walking around in nothing but a thong and pasties is gay. Hmmm...... Something doesnt quite add up here.

  • @chevy57belair ROFL thumbs up for that man, one of the best comments I've seen ever. PLUR :)

  • This is so cool! Wish the project was completed. Any update on it?

  • I'M in the America.. I've been to a couple raves.. Took the drugs.. Been off the drugs for a long time... But I STILL LOVE TO RAVE. GIVE ME SOME MUSIC AND I'LL DANCE.

  • RAVE IS KING!!!!!!!

  • i love seeing how it started, cuz i going raving in denver and the rave scene is growing tremendously

  • It's true the scene is messed up now by people who are just trying to make money off of kids and people who go just to seem cool. Why can't raving be underground still and not well known? It would be way much better that way..

  • hey us fellows of the universal trance dance scene take a look to " lartderaver " ( the art of rave) 1990-1992 about the Dance Magical Trip in Paris - France ouh la la

  • wow, nothing like the chi-town scene!

  • Uptown Underground is still alive and throwing parties, they ain't as big as they used to be but their still going!!!!

  • My ex lived this like I mean lived in New york and went to all these parties. He even said he went to this spooky party this guy is talking about in here at Madison square garden. He was a part of Caffeine too....I'm so jealous.

  • at :18 you can see a flyer for Blackout 1

witch i think is weird because one of my first raves was Blackout 3

i live in Seattle and the rave scene is big here but i dident think a flyer from our scene would get in a video like this :D

  • whats the song at the beginning

  • I mean meet new not no lol

  • I have been raveing since I was about 12 and I am 14 now and I love raves alot the music the subculture the fashion the feeling of it all just sends chills down my bk and I absoulutely luv it and I am souber I don't just go their for drugs I go their to dance have the night of my life meet no people and rave :)

  • ive been raving for 2 years nd im 17 thats good to start at..i hate seeing lil kids like 12 rolling bawwls! it jus pisses me off..lil fucks should be watchin pokemon like how i used too haha

  • dont know why they say the rave scene is dead, almost all the kids i know been to a rave in cali

  • the arizona rave scene is pretty big, people from out of state come here for our raves. but now a days you see fat chicks that are twilight fans and bad asses tryna be gangster go to them its an eyesore

  • ill rave forever my 1st rave was the best night of my life nothings compares to your 1st...2 years of raving later i got rave 2 the grave tatted on me ill never regret it not even wen im old ill always look back at my time as a raver an be in aww of the times i had it so worth it RAVE 2 THE GRAVE

  • Make a documentary about how to start a rave ? i rele wanna get the finances i need to host one in an abandoned fun house in a closed down themepark not far from where i live

  • i used to go to raves all the time.

  • I live in LA and the rave scene is strong over there. I've seen a lot of people trying to dress like a raver every day but there are true ravers here. You have to know the people to know the raves and yeah there are some little kids who kill the scene and go for the drugs but I never pay attention to them.

It's growing over here and it's only getting better. Might not be as "bad ass" as in the 90's but things change over time.

  • this vid could not be more true about american rave scene which does not exist today. not all true about the relationship between rave and drug but about 50%. i started raving in the early 90's now im clubbing in the 2010's. i dj somewhere almost everyday since 2001 so i have seen the change in the seen 4sure. the downfall to the american rave started around 98 and was completely gone by 2000. now days if u think your going to a rave your not your going to a club to hear electronic music. p.l.r.

  • Sober or high I love raves:)

  • hahah there both OFF there head at the start

  • I raved from '89 To 1999 mostly in Toronto, God do I miss it, I'd do anything to bring it all back, no problems, no violence just pure fun. Then the gangs had to go and fuck it all up for everyone.

  • @jeepjonesTJ Yeah just like they are doing out here in Colorado. Pretty soon we're gonna loose it all.

  • i love this scene! raver for life!

  • i love the music and the scene not the capitalism and the drugs

  • Whats the song at the beginning?

  • I FKN LOVE THIIS SHIIT!!

  • I loved those days.

  • No f*n way that the US old skool ravers after the "drugs" burn out & leave the music.

PLUR for life many many years after the "drugs"

Missing the Old skool ravers... Need to bring the scene back!! R.I.P Asylum & WEMF

Hell ya DJ Knowledge Whoot Whoot

Also gotta give props to my 1st and fav. DJ Frankie Bones!!

  • PLUR

  • hahaha you all suck i just went to HARD HAUNTED MANSION in downtown L.A. sickest shit that ever happened. game ova. forget it. p.s. california whips the shit out of any country rave-wise. look it up.

  • No no no, I whip the shit out of any rave, you do not want to be around me at a rave, if you know whats good for your health.

  • Rave Will Never Die!

  • It's sad that the days of records and record stores to find out about the party through fliers does not exist. The internet changed everything. In SoCal you have a massive scene with 6 digit figures in people and millions funneling through in profit and nobody knows whats good and whats not.

  • so true.

  • the rave scene is growing here in southern california but its mostly little kids that dont know shit about nothing and they just go for the drugs, theyre giving us a bad name over here..

  • i agree, people have made it too main stream

  • hell yea, it was all good wen i started but now its like a highschool reunion everytime i go anywhere and wen i talk to them they dont know anythin about the music or wut its about,

  • the early 90s rave was incredible djs would feed of each others vibes and take crowds into frenzys !! frankie is right its all in clubs now its safe there and the music is a lil lack luster !! its definatley rare that it happens like that nowadays it was more of a culture back then..

  • Ecstasy is retarded

  • the UK is where rave was at in the nineties

  • There is till a pretty busy scene where I live in Switzerland, but the crowds are terrible, people dont know a party even when it hits them in the face these days...

  • I went to my first rave in 1991 I think, it was called Sputnik and it was in Newburgh NY. As soon as I got some money I bought two tech 1200s. Still going strong to this day although dance music got pretty shitty in the late '90s, surprisingly I feel like some of the new DJs out there are bringing the vibe back. Last good party spot was Lunatarium in D.U.M.B.O

  • Come to the Netherlands for good raves

In the early 90's it was a real underground thing but grow out to profesional and good organized raves

with still thousends of (new & old generation) party people at every rave (techno Hardcore hardstyle oldskool)

And keep the memories of the good old early days(i do) things never be the same

12 years later,i'm getting older but stil hooked on RAVE MUSIC !!!

  • to be fair, you do get the best drugs!!!!!

  • This video was taken in 1999. But I would have said the same exact thing in 1994. And yet that would make me a hypocrite because there still is a scene. It just is a lot smaller then it was ten years ago. Of course any big festival is going to be mainstream. In Southern California when you pick up a flyer, if the top billing acts/DJ's are not showing millions of views on their Youtube videos, they won't be top billing, they will not be getting booked.

  • the rave scene is huge still....

  • i live inSo-cal, and out here the rave scene is geting fucked over, its almost turning into something main streme..

iDont think its sapposed to be mainstreme

  • oh hell yea!..i live in so cal too and all u hear now is about raves from ppl who arent ravers just ppl who go just to take drugs..

  • haahah "best fucken night of my life"!!! classic!!!!

  • i used to attend to the original storm raves in sheepshead bay bklyn... I used to get there at 5-6am!!! shit used to last into the day... best times of my life.. whattap Frankie, Adam, Heather!!!?

  • The scene in New York is def not dead, small and struggling maybe but heres the plus's

    1) Promoters are not out to make money nemore, raves are so small that promoters lose money now.

    2) Dealers are mainly small time if that

    3) Promoters hire usually only true rave style music dj's, none of that basshunter shit.

    4) Local DJ's almost always spin the truest most hardcore underground shit they can find.

  • 5) Many of the people are all about P.L.U.R. but seems that they are only about is when on E. But ive met a few hardcore P.L.U.R. people like myself.

    6) NYC rave scene is def growing, i has its years. But parties cost too much and most ravers are broke.

Analysis: Bring back free parties, and rave scene will thrive, you gotta take the financial hit for awhile. But when they begin thriving again all will be well.

Screw 2 step clubbers, bring rave back.

  • Lol Im from new york, and I'm actually going to a rave on july 4th, hopefully its as fun as the video proclaims

  • not in so cal

  • i hear that, so many people got hardcore into the rave and then droped out forever becasue of the drugs, how could you give up the music and the liquid so easily? Liquid Dancing ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • liquid?

  • what i liked about raves was that you could just be your self, how many places can you go to wearing a cap , pumps or looking like a farmer or dressed as a alien? virtually non cos of dresscodes , they tell you how to dress how to dance what to drink and show you how to wipe your bum too,for me the rave scene was youtube for the times the music was mostly made by kids with samplers and they sampled there best tunes and movies in a style we could all enjoy it died years ago

  • sweeet memories those early parties. the planetary parties....upstate ny......frankie bones, onionz, db, wink, mr kleen.....sure do miss those funky days!

  • miss these things

  • someone needs to get the kid at 3:09 a muh-fuckin napkin or somethin, nigga's corners of his mouths iz all funky n shit....lol.

  • @bdc73 Uh I think that's just gum

  • i just dont get anymore, 60's generation had the really cool era of psychedelic music, 70's generation had the cool classic rock & punk scene, 80's gen had the new wave and post punk scene, 90's had the rave and grunge scene, what does the gen in the 2000's get?crap rap and shitty overated emo rock bands for young confused teenagers?? wtf.

  • dude i agree with you there. Kids today dont have a subculture they can call there own:(

  • electronic music scenes have still grown and developed into 2000. as for the raving side of it, yes most of it is conformed and it isnt as unique and how it was, but it depends on the extent of how much the nights are commercialised. there are still plenty of VERY "ravey" nights in some clubs that are far from that commercial line, and many illegals that go on still with people who hold that original mentality.

in short, yes its nt the same generally, but its still der in certain places.

  • coudln't have said it better myself.

  • @KROMEXICAN Could not have said it better myself ;)

  • @KROMEXICAN yes wtf?

  • @KROMEXICAN we still got rave!

  • @KROMEXICAN I'm sure there were kids in the 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s that said the exact same thing you're saying.

KROMEXICAN from the 60s: I just dont get it anymore, 20s had jazz, the 40s had big band, the 50s had Elvis, and what do the 60s get? crap psychedelic music! wtf.

  • @KROMEXICAN dubstep bitch

  • @KROMEXICAN we have no scene lets make one

  • @KROMEXICAN if you look at it we have a redefined rave scene look up qlimax defqon 1 hardbass edc sensation white/black etc.

the trance and house scene is massive as well as the harder scenes, hardstyle hard trance

  • The scene is dead and it will never be like it use to be back in the early 90's,we can thank all the damn e-tards that O.D and brought way to much attention to the scene and the promoters that were just in it for the money fuck having to pay 6 bucks for WATER WTF is that about? parties were meant to have fun not money.. well you have to goto IBIZA now that's where it's at now and has been for a very long time,LOng Live Electro Breaks and Drum & Bass.

  • I miss the old scene SO MUCH!!! It used to be fun. I still love the music, I blast it at home.... but I quit going to parties because I got sick of seeing a bunch of young teenage girls in their underwear, all hopped up on drugs with their creepy dealers following them around, waiting to make a move on them. And the commercialization of it all...you can get into a rave via TicketMaster....what happeend to map-points & special flyers? That extra step always made a weekend a fun adventure....

  • I rave for the MUSIC. Although I really the E too.

  • I remember raving in New Orleans in the late 90's...those were the days...I used xtc, but it was so much more than that...the love, unity and freedom...Ive been clean for over 3 years now...and STILL blare my stereo to AK1200, DJ Icey...Houdi..yea baby! I would'nt give the experience I had in those years for anything, but I also wouldnt go back , Im grown up now! Peace

  • I loved trance/techno way before i got into the drug.

but, dj DB has a point.

a lot of people here are like that.

  • ill never burn out of the music

  • people very rarely understood in the states that raves had nothing to do with clubs, but yeah it changed once people took it just for a moneymaker and way to get drugs...sucks. i miss my culture the real culture.

  • So "very true" what DJ DB says about american ravers vs uk ravers!

  • maybe for the majority of american ravers.... but some of us really do live for the music. ive been going to raves for a few years now and i can honestly say that (in my scene at least) we are going back to the oldskool vibe. a rave was raided by police 3 years ago in my area which kind of drove off the dealers. now we are going back to the roots. are numbers are down at events but the amazing vibe is back! wanna go to a great rave, come to utah. i kno it sounds funny but im serious. PLUR!!!

  • i blame all the drug dealers from the ghettos and their little wannabe hardcore entourages that made raves up here in northern cali not as big as they were back then!i use to rave alot back in the dayz and it was never a problem until all these dumb gangstas and drug dealers hear about raves being a very easy way to make money so of couse they tell others and so on.then the law started getting involved and they thought that every raver is involved in dealing as well.that is my personal opinion!

  • Dope .......whats the name of the documentary ? I need to ghet this holller .....NYCity Underground Liquid Lights Crew Represent

  • I wanna go to a Rave!!! there still raves just not that many

  • danm i remember those parties i even went to one back in sixth grade which was back in 2000 my first rave and ill never forget it

  • We are planning a massive free party in the UK. Oldskool breakbeat driven dance music.

Dont just hear about it afterwards contact us for our myspace/ facebook url.

  • Are you guys sure that the rave scene is dead? I don't know much about it but I read that in Europe it is still big, only they are now called "free parties" and "teknivals.." I think theres a Wikipedia page about it. Theres also a forum I checked out where people get together to talk about the parties. Most of them are done in abandoned buildings.

  • This video is amazing its all so true. the original raves need to come back

  • yo wat was that song in the end shit was mad oldskool sounding

  • Fatboy Slim - Right Here, Right Now

  • I don't know, there are places where the scene is very much alive and very much a gathering of unity and peace. Granted people aren't breaking into buildings but the ideals are still the same.

  • finish it. You will find finance a problem because of the association with d*!gs.

  • Where did raves go? Money, greed, politics, government, same shit that always ruins everything. Raves these days are so lame. They're an empty shell of what they used to be. Biggest thing missing from them today is the idea of PLUR. Peace, Love, Unity, Respect. You'll find none of that today. That's a big reason why raves today suck so badly. They're a total business now.

  • this is a trailer i put together a few years back in the midst of creating a full length documentary. Unfortunetly we did not get the financial backing to complete the doc.

  • That's a damn shame. Looked like it was going to be a pretty good documentary.

  • I have been to hundreds of raves in my life. I was soon into the scene that I would go every chance I could. But they are right, the scene is dead, dominated by money hungry promoters and drug dealing gangs. I miss those days when the scene was all about unity, love, and peace! There still are underground raves that are still true to the game, but they are very hard to find!

  • PLUR 4 LIFE

  • what that guy said all about american youth and not growing up with electronic music vs europe, was on-point. sadly, the music scene gets infiltrated by gang members b/c they have the money(drugs) to throw parties like this.

  • I went to a rave once it was ok

  • Starlet Passions Records

    Starlet Passions Raves...

If santa was real, would you sit on his lap whenever you wanted a gift or would you save up every penny, work like a slave and run up your credit to buy your own gifts?

  • What a find a shame is that everyone thinks it's for the drugs. It's not necessarly a part of what makes a rave a rave! Raves are a celebration of music of our generation and we should think of it as that. You don't need drugs to have a good time, just some awesome hardcore music and glowsticks! Take some insight into that...and maybe we can revive the scene. Btw I might go to Snuggle 2 in Pittsburgh PA! (my first rave!!) :D

  • It's a shame raves faded in America, techno/trance music rocked, in that underground scene. Know you have to go to some mainstream club, which takes out the mystifying feeling that you'll get from a rave. America bring raves back!!

  • To bad for the U.S., but luckily I live in liberal en non-conservative Europe where the house scene is unbelievable big. Big houseparties (you call it Raves) 50.000 man at on location.

Would like to see this doc. Have been discussing with U.S. and European friends why it is that EDM (electronic Dance music) is so small in the U.S. incomparison with Europe.

  • u wanna know why? because America has a big problem embracing things that arent made in America. Look at "football", they call it soccer, and made some other sport where only 1 guy actually 'kicks the ball'...

    wth??

btw im from California and very much into electronic music, and house dance, not to say i dont like Hip Hop, Rock etc im very open to all sorts of stuff.

    bye

  • fuckin fake drug pushin gangstas!! bring back peace, love and happiness( and real pills) well all i can say is "keep rockin in da free world"!!!

  • i miss those days 98 99 i guess 2000 wasn't bad went to shit

  • get tu scotland 4 tha best raves

  • Scottish raves are shit mate no offence or anything...English raves are the dogs bollix! It's a well known fact that Scottish raves are well SHITE

  • no they aint, why do scotland get the likes of q dance, masters of hardcore and soon industrial strength records???? cause if u ask any dj where the best raves are most will say scotland, they just love the crowd up here

  • american right here

    BUT the family is from

el salvador and i really want to go to the raves down there

    this summer for sure!

    :D

  • I miss those days =0(

  • Thats so true everyone has lost the feeling of the scene. The feeling you get when you hear the music hit. I miss that.

  • What is that song that is building up to the end?!?!?!?!? Its driving me crazy and i really like it. I wanna see the whole thing too

  • Its Fatboy Slim " Right here, Right now" =0)

  • If you didn't know the name of that tune you are certainly not a raver!

  • AMERiiCANS CANT RAVE... THE ENGLiiSH ARE THE BEST AT iiT.... AND U DONT NEED DRUGS TO RAVE PEOPLE... REMEMBER THAT...

  • im am american and yes i can rave. i love the seen the first time i went. n thats true u dont need drugs to rave.

  • YH ii GUESS ,,, BUT WE MAKE iiT CRAZii THEN AGEN ii ANiiT BEEN TO AMERiiCAN RAVE:P HUGS NOT DRUGS:D

  • i been wanting to go to a rave over seas just never got a chance they do seem a hella lot crazier

  • THATS CAUSE ENGLiiSH ARE CRAZii BiiTCHES:D

iiBiiZA iiS GOOD AND ENGLAND ,,, DNT RELLii WANNA GO ANYWERE ELSE ,,,

  • raves r best with "X" people! I don't know what ya'll been doing!

  • the english AND the irish are best at it love!americans are shit at it..all the best raves these days happen in the Netherlands but the dutch crowd are so fucking lifeless, the Irish and English are fuckin bolistic!!!!!!!!!

  • thats cool

  • anybody know were i can watch the full thing?

  • its currently in production. Looking for people to help with the producing if anyone is interested.

  • It's a London Ting
