By the way, the holocaust museum refers to the arrest of thousands jews in Paris by the french police under Petain control who decided to help gestapo as much as possible. So, it was not the french resistance (who was not the french government (vichy)).

We were taught in school that Paris was indeed liberated by the French; at the request of general De Gaulle, the allies let the French go in front to have the honor of liberating their capital. We were also told collaboration with nazis was widespread in France - though one should not forget that antisemitism was rife in all of Europe at the time.

In general I'd say reading our own history as told by foreigners can only broaden our horizons. :)
