But had you ever heard of Tony Conrad before? He was selected to be there for a reason. His violin style has had as much influence on bands, including Animal Collective (some of whose favorite artists, like him, I'm guessing you went to see), who've based their sounds on droning textures as anyone has. I can understand not liking this stuff, in particular, but don't discount his whole body of work.
