  • I just had some yesterday in rice soup .. I was afraid to eat it but it was really good LOL.

  • @TheFuryNinja is rice soup what they call congee?

  • My dad introduced me to this back in Philippines when I was a kid. Now I'm in the mood to eat one again. Next time my dad goes to the Asian market, I'll have him pick some up for me lol. Love these eggs.

  • @Rhapthorne3 did you like them right awy? i thought it might take a couple of times:)

  • @FoodOddities I never really thought of it. I ate it every time my dad brought home some. I understand why people don't like them though...it does have a strong and pungent taste and smell.

  • @Rhapthorne3 yes im still not used to it!

  • the egg is good for appetizer and good w/ chinese cold cuts and rice congee it's not as old as 100 yr old but only few months preservation

  • @lyssaScruz i need to get my hands on some chinese cold cuts:)

  • @FoodOddities remy chinese cold cuts are available in authentic Chinese Restaurants .. :) tc and be safe :D

  • @lyssaScruz thakn you!!

  • For the rest of your life, you're going to be able to say you ate these things, while everyone else will just be saying how they were too scared to try it. You'll always have the better story.

  • @otakucode you know what that is true! i started eating stuff to have new experences and if i get a good story out of them it is cool:)

  • You got balls kid... your gf late in life must fricken love it

  • @moneyparade lol!

  • That egg was called duck eggs. In Chinese we bury the eggs in a large crock that's been layered and lined with garden soil, and then store in a cool dry place for 3-4 months. And putting ingredients include a blend of equal parts of ash from charcoal, pine wood, and fireplace, along with salt and strong black tea. And cut in wedges and serve with sweet pickled vegetables or a sauce of vinegar, soy sauce, rice wine, and minced ginger. Yum!!! It totally delicious!!!

  • @GunzProStarZ with that reciepe i could maybe make my own? i should try that!

  • @FoodOddities Haha, Sure.

  • awwww too bad you should buy it with clay on it thats how the PRESERVE THE TASTE you have to wash it off though like i did

  • @coolermah ooo i never saw those kind but there were about 20 difrerent brands. maybe one of the other ones?

  • I am Asian I LOVE IT i some how think that is taste ... kinda sweet :)

  • Awh II feel bad for him..He has to eat that..:P LOLZ

  • @Rosieposie80 lol! i didn t HAVE to eat it:)

  • I heard they tasted like sulfur.

  • @Anthoric yes that is true! kind of rotten sulfur

  • Darn, I gotta try it. My mom told this one dude from 7 11 about my liking to balut, so he told my mom about 100 year old egg and I wanted to try it.

  • @MarineEverGreen maybe you will like it more than i did!

  • was this egg cooked?

  • @stevetasaa it wasnt. so many people said i should have cooked it and then some said no i didnt need to

  • Funny thing is there they think the idea of cheese is disgusting

  • @xboxgamerman somewhere in the world an 11 year old is mak ing a video of him eating cheese and gagging:)

  • this video is most popular with:

    Male 35-44

    Male 25-34

    Male 45-54

  • @delhigod that is weird. i guess men love eggs

  • @FoodOddities or little children

  • @justin907huynh o yea maybe. that isnt good

  • well its not literally a thousand year old egg. it is delicious isnt it?

  • @cokmod you are right it is a strange name but such an intersting taste

  • This is a pretty good channel. I've started recommending it to people. Interesting stuff, & funny too sometimes. Good job, guys.

  • @wrght9185 thank you very much!

  • It's bloody common here in Singapore, and we actually love to eat it. Why is this even considered as a 'food oddity'?

  • @insaneotic well for sure it wont for you you live in one of the greatest food countries in the world. i am jealous! i guess it is only odd here in america where so many awesome things never get tried.

  • @FoodOddities I guess that makes sense haha. We don't have much weird (?) food here either :( And LOADS of things are banned here orz

  • @insaneotic is that true? wow it is too bad every country is so crazy about what they allow

  • @FoodOddities Trust me Singapore's the craziest. No gum, nothing that looks like tobacco, etcetc.

  • @insaneotic seriously?wow that is crazy! no one smokes there then?or chews gum at all?

  • @FoodOddities Lol im from singapore and people do smoke there and chew gums.. although when chewing gum you do have to discreetly chew and throw them away properly unless you wanted to be fine by the authorities~ :/

  • @ShadowmoonCat so very secret!!

  • @insaneotic it's odd in america definately.. when he showed what the egg looked my face was like this O.O a black and green egg... mind=blown

  • @cmisamazingful loL!! yes!!

  • มันคือไข่เยี่ยวม้าไทย ใช่มะ?

  • @Wachansa i love google! it said you wrote It is a big Thai preserved egg.is that right?

  • @FoodOddities WOW yes! I love to order 'ไข่เยี่ยวม้ากระเพรากรอบ' (Preserved egg fried with crispy basil) very delicious :-)

  • @Wachansa that is awesome:)

  • Wow.... the people who prepared that egg wouldn't be very happy..... ;D IDK why, but everyone in my family likes it except for me.....

  • @88hunghung ahh something else in common!!:) yes after awhile i started trying not to show company names too much if i hate d the food:D

  • it actually tastes good with porridge or dimsum... seaweeds even.

  • @kkjgg112391 ooo i am always up for some seaweed!!

  • hey Remy, just so you know you should never that egg with soy sauce. You should slice the egg into evenly pieces and marinate them in a small amount of soy sauce. It will turn out a lot tastier and the odor will gone, and that's the proper way to eat it. :)

  • @weiyi1123 that is for sure what i will do then. i love soy sauce and if it can make the egg edible i will do it:)

  • that kid is nastey

  • @lemusesther5 Thats really Rude to say to a Kid who is just having a little fun and trying new Things.Obviously he didnt like your comment by his Response. Also, If you dont like it then dont watch it and keep your Rude comments to Yourself. Thanks :)

  • @WAZUP737 thank you:)

  • does Oddities stand for like wierd food

  • @HorrorFan553 it does!

  • your like the youngest food critic

  • @HorrorFan553 that would be the best job ever to bet paid to eat! for now i eat for free:D

  • you can eat those eggs raw, but at least serve with soya sauce. These eggs are not suppose to eat directly, just like you dont eat cheese directly but serve with crackers.

  • @gabl8a89 that is how i will do it nex t time:)

  • who helps you make the vid mom or dad and great video eating that gross thing

  • @masmotors thank you! my dad shoots them for me and puts them up. my mom mostly hides her eyes from the foods:D

  • I love these eggs! Eating them in rice porridge is good.

  • @nihumgachan i have to ge3t my hands on that porridge:)

  • its great with porridge! the chinese eat it this way :)

  • @ArsenalSolstice i need to try that porridge

  • Excuse me, but you're supposed to cook it first, not eat it raw!

  • @DrBradLee some poeple said to cook it and some said it was cooked. im confused:)

  • @DrBradLee wrong. You dont have it.

  • Invention of the Chinese Ming Dynasty preserved eggs, salted duck eggs Qing Dynasty

  • @zbz0425 i didnt know that!

  • I love how you try to be descriptive about the food you bizarre foods wanna be lol

    om nom nom nom

  • @Arkenarge lol!!!

  • Did you get sick from that remy?

  • @Jezzy2578 i didnt get sick! it was my first odd food too so i dindt know what to expect:)

  • the editing on this video was fucking creepy lol

  • @GrimeyBeatProduction it was my first one

  • remy where do u get all that food

  • @ceaserthekiller5 a lot of it is from a couple of stores by us with asian food but some of it is online. i fhyou want to try some i can tell you where we found it.

  • @FoodOddities oh ok tell me please i want to try it

  • @ceaserthekiller5 soem of it we got from edible dot com. just put a real dot in the address. and thailandunique is a great one!

  • you gotta eat it with pickled ginger, trust me it will taste a lot better than eating it like this.

  • @meyt123 i will do it!

  • how would t hey sell for long time that is older t han my mom

  • @ceaserthekiller5 lol! mine too

  • try it with the porridge, or more like a chinese style congee, you know the rice one. and another correct way of eatting it is, try to cut them into slices, then put soy sauce and sugar ( not sugar cubes) on it. And last not the least, you can try to cut them in slices and eat them with pickled steamed ginger. btw, I'm Chinese. :)

  • @christine020 then you are the expert! i will try it that way for sure

  • it tastes better with rice porridge topped off with green onion bits. Sometimes they'll give you this really awesome slices of fried bread with it. it is sooo good. Chinese people eat this for breakfast. : )

  • @lumpymallows oo fried bread!!

  • Damn! This eggs taste good in porridge! It's Asian's delicacy!!! =]

  • @polarspirit millions love it i want to try it again

  • if you ever eat it again, make sure to eat it with something else such as rice or bread because the flavor is very intense. it's like eating a raw onion. you should chop it up and put it in something. the first time i ate this, i was really young and i didn't like it. i didn't like the taste or smell at ALL! but a lot of asian people dice it up very finely and mix it in porridge. it gives bland rice some saltiness; that's why! :)

  • @kumagorox3 o so it is more like a flavoring for rice!! i need to try again.

  • that kid is hardcore

  • @lowgrade84 thank you! and that was my first one!!

  • this tastes great in porridge...

  • @FumbDucKKK i need to try it in porridge

  • Omg are u kidding me. preservative duck egg is better taste than balut......

  • @dennis0726 maybe if i keep trying it

  • I can see that this kid doesn't even know how to eat this egg. you r supposed to eat it little by little with something such as rice, soy sauce, tofu, etc. just imagine him eating fresh garlic like that and you'll know wut i mean.

  • @DD2009252525 no you are right! i dont know much about any of these things i try but i hope i can learn:)

  • I ate those before !! but it was in soup . . .

  • @PiggieLena333 oo i never tried it in soup

  • brave kid indeed, he dived right into it.

  • @VertigaDesignMEDIA thank you! it was my first weird food

  • @nitramza86 thank you!!

  • what a brave and cute kid!

  • @henbees thank you ! very much:)

  • @FoodOddities you're welcome! you should definitely contact andrew zimmern about remy! contact him on twitter :) btw, if you're remy's parent you should be very proud - i still wouldn't eat the stuff he dares to! lol :)

  • @henbees i am remy my dad checks messages and let s me respond to nice ones. thank you!!!

  • Ur like Bear Grylls except as a kid LOL.. I love these eggs my mom makes me eat those

  • @weakling9999 lol! awesome!! you love them? i want to!

  • omg, I love those eggs. I could eat one whole if I could. but yes, those eggs are really really good in congee

  • @jaimie64 did they ever taste strange to you or always realy good?

  • @FoodOddities I guess to me it was really really good. Plus I grew up with eating it with congee so it wasn't a big deal to me.

  • @jaimie64 i wish i tried them when i was 3!

  • Maybe u non asian see this and you Eeeeewwwww...... but really, it taste good, how I know? I Asian. :P

  • @DiCaprioLWD i want to like it:) you have a good advantage:D

  • Oh my God, century egg is the BEST

  • @kii22me i am going to try it again

  • Remi did you eat guinea pig? Here in peru he suck it out the brain of the guinea pig, its delicious, you should try

  • @TheOrgulloblanco i want to try it! when i get a chance i will do it:)

  • lol put it with congee lol at your face

  • @tryron78 i will try it:)

  • these are nice in congee

  • @badgerkins1991 i have still never tried congee i need to

  • these are really good, asians eat them alot..

  • @EpicFailureee i want to like them:)

  • It's not as bad as it looks, it's all in your head! Century Egg is an Asian delicacy, goes well with pork porridge. Otherwise it's great with pickled ginger+sesame oil. Fear Factor makes it look bad, but I reckon if there's a Chinese in there he'll definitely ace this challenge, gobble it up like nobody's business! haha...

  • @FruityDC lol! yes!! they woud breeze through it:)

  • omg how can you do that lol :S made me feel sick watching you eat it XD

    good vid btw :P

  • @jessiestarbabe thank you!! back then i didnt think about it but now when i eat some thing i dont think i will like i just think it will be over soon! and then sometimes i like it. but the egg was the first thing i tried and it was so hard:)

  • lol looks like the ugly black duckling left a present 0_o a gross looking present its prob hard to eat isnt it

  • @Guineapiglover2002 i wasnt expecting an egg that smells like a swamp!!

  • Remy, you looked traumatised after that.

  • @Ultrakalifragilistic i think i was a littel! it was the first oddity i ever ate and for some reason i thought i was going to like every thing i ever tried:)

  • this reminds me of the ugly black duckling story :/....

  • @iPhoneFaiz98 the ugly duckling was ugly egg! lol! yes:)

  • your supposed to boil for about 30 mins

  • @Rand0mM4n54 o man. i never cooked it at all

  • He looks like Michael Jackson.........

  • @PacmanJr16 lol! what?

  • you shouldn't eat it plain like that, at least not for the 1st time!

It's nice to cook it in rice porridge with minced pork, chicken egg and salted duck egg.

  • @ahfat83 o man that sounds better!!

  • oh well, I guess it takes some time to get used to them old eggs. But food is kind of like people - always better with some good company. Keep it up bud, and have fun.

  • @bigbroroulette thank you! i always want to keep giving those foods a nother chance

  • What the fuck? I ate that for breakfast this morning... Also it's supposed to be eaten with rice or it's kinda nasty. One of the perks of being half Chinese is you can stomach anything lol.

  • @Nightdrone i shoud have eaten with rice:)

  • it tastes great in congee add a bit of green onion to it... mmm just delicious.

but then again eating it alone doesn't taste that good. the yolk has this acidic property that burns your mouth. but on a winter's day just warms you up.

  • @heyitshorse o man i love green onion. i have to try this again:)

  • Mmm. Yummy. I love thousand year old eggs. Especially in my congee.

  • @lesliekwan80 i have never had congee but i have to

  • uuuuuuuuhhhhhhhhhhh.............tht "slime" doesn't look right! O.o

  • you are not suppose to eat it by itself...

  • @alstan25 i neve knew until later i will eat it again with congee and spice!!

  • You are the men!

  • Hi Remy, you are one brave boy. century egg on it's own might repel people because it does have a smell. Try it with some silken tofu, top it with sliced century egg and finely chopped young ginger. in a separate bowl mix soy sauce with a little sugar and green onion and sesame oil and drizzle over the tofu. very yummy side dish.. you can even top it with some fried shallots and garlic to make it taste even better.

  • @oricleben o man that sound good. you jus t described some thing i woud pay to eat!!

  • Good job kid. I wouldn't eat one,though!

  • @Mimocool67 thank yoU!!

  • Where did you even get that from? Was it expensive? Does it have any nutritional value?

  • @FCA1975 wow i dont remember i think it has all the value of a regular egg

  • Proposed spur of the moment when to eat, cut into small pieces, I am a Chinese

  • @killgm tiny pieces instead of a big bite sounds smart!!
