Ugh, that fire was horrible. I was upstairs at my cousin's house and everyone comes rushing up and looks out the window and these big black clouds and red flames everywhere. We had to evacuate to my grandparents house in fort.macleod. :|
Just some advice when they say everything is fine & they have enough equipment don't believe them. that's what I was told by the town office in slave lake when our town was on fire lol DONT wait for an evac order if it's close just leave
@prodieus Yeah we weren't all that close but we left because we thought it was better to be safe then sorry. I didn't like the idea of letting someone else determine the length of estimated time we needed to evacuate. The authorities did a great job containing it in the conditions they had though. It was frustrating how people kept saying that they had been evacuated when in reality they were just leaving. There is a large difference from leaving and having the police knock on your door.
i could see this from my house i was scared to death and there was another one close to my house

the winds are are crazy for this time of the year, aparently downtown calgary was shut down because of trees being uprooted and glass being shattered
