It's not only important to be worthy to hold the Priesthood, but also to be trained in CPR. If neither of those men knew CPR, that child would probably be dead, or revived by the emergency personnel. Courses are cheap or free, and a very practical way to save someone's life. I say we not only give credit to the young Elder, but also to the sports professionals who were properly trained and prepared to save the boy's life.
Haha maybe it has something to do with the medical professionals? He didn't actually get hit, you guys. Stop making everything into something spiritual. It just distracts from actual fact, like the way the blacks were treated in this church up until 1978. You might try and delete this message, to prevent those who would read this from doing so, but I think you teach a little thing called free agency. Also, I think you guys believe in the 11th article of faith, giving me the permission to say it.
And what happens when this happens to a group of still good people who don't have access to Priesthood, but are still emergency responders? Still time to thank God? What if the kid dies at age 8 and one day? We can blame God at that point, right?
I don't want to trample on anyone's beliefs, but in this case it seems to me that the two trained emergency medical technicians lent more to saving this boy's life than the prayer did...
I was shown this in priest quorem last sunday. I love the way these videos convey the spirit to you. The feeling the spirit brings really is a testimony of God in and of itself. I am honored and grateful to be deemed worthy to be a holder of the priesthood.
we watched this today in Seminary, what an amazing video. It makes me want to continue to live worthy of my Priesthood, as I never know when lightening will strike.
To the people asking if the EMTs and the two men got credit or not: Yes, the had a part in continuing the process to recovery. HOWEVER, without the worthy priesthood holder giving him a blessing, he may not have been saved. Because this young, Melchizedek priesthood holder was worthy, he received revelation that helped save the boy's life. this isnt about the other failed attempts.
CPR, performed promptly and properly with a rapid arrival of paramedical personnel, can save the lives of 43 percent of cardiac arrest victims. Not all the time can CPR save lives but god played a role in this circumstance.
I am a survivor because a Priesthood Blessing, since then many people can not agree that it is true, however not body will move away the experience I had that day, the faith that I have because of that, and the confirmation of the Holy Ghost with such a peace and warm feeling in my heart...
So the fact that two trained medics were performing CPR at the same time, even though their presence was miraculous, had nothing to do with the young man's recovery? If he had not survived the incident, who would have been responsible? This is clearly a case of confirmation bias.
so we are supposed to thank prayer and the lord for saving this kid's life and give no credit to the two men performing CPR? And what of the God who apparently just struck that innocent child with lightning? for the greater good I suppose?
@burlong01 Considering the boy is still alive and well today, and that this event almost definitely strengthened their testimonies, I would say that yes, it turned out better than if it had never happened.
I don't understand why these events should be considered significant. The boy was being treated by EMTs. Shouldn't they get the credit for reviving him?
I know this is true as you feel the peace that comes from the words spoken of this experience you feel touched. Miracles do happen and will happen as one exercises faith in God. These men where sanctified and through Christ they performed a miracle in his name even Jesus Christ using the same Priesthood that Peter and the Apostles of the New Testament did to heal the sick and raise the dead.
It is true! AJ was my professor's son. The the lightning went through his helmet and through his body. Against all odds he is completely okay today. Great guy!
I beleive in the power and the blessing of the Priesthood. I have a testimony of it in my heart. I pray that all of our men will be worthy and willing to use the power or the priesthood when it is called of them.
@graysonlange I believe from the bottom of my heart that it is and i can really feel the holy ghost while watching this video! I've experienced the power of the priesthood of God and it is real! That i know!

I first heard this story years ago from my Child Development professor at BYU- Idaho, Sister Edwards,,, A.J.'s mom. It's amazing seeing a Mormon Message created from the experience. It truly strengthens my testimony of the power of the Priesthood and the importance of remaining sanctified because you will never know when the Lord will have need of you to do His work.
Those who hold His priesthood, conferred upon them by those who have His authority may and do call upon the Lord and what we call miracles, take place. All through the love and power of our Father in Heaven.

If God was going to let this kid live then why did He strike him with lightning in the first place?

Seems to me the two trained emergency medical technicians should be thanked for saving this boy's life-- not the power of the "priesthood".

So while the EMTs saved the kid, a guy said a couple words and took credit for the EMTs saving the kid?
PushThePariah 3 months ago
Why aren't the EMTs getting credit? They are the ones that saved his life. The guy holding his head did nothing but pray.
trucktwister 3 months ago
@trucktwister he did EVERYTHING. Isnt prayer and faith everything? "just praying" couldnt have saved the boy's life.
