Taize is a wonderful place to visit.... for the day and service.... DO NOT STAY THERE.... unless you LOVE camping out, sleeping with 4 to 6 people in a room ( on bunk beds) toilets out side, up the hill......sorry, it's like a torture camp to sleep there.... i left right after the service. when you go, AND DO GO!!!! stay in CLUNY... wonderful hotels and a short car ride away....also great chocolate shops!!!
@mariap1919 but the best thing in Taize is the spirit of the community. What seems to be torture in the first moment is more and more a cleaning process of your soul with each day you stay at this place. That's it what Taize is standing for: getting out of our society for a couple of days with all its luxury and unnecessairy things to know what a human really needs: a society which cares about him or her. It's like a dive into god. The only thing you need is trust in his allmightyness.
I'm not a christian, I'm not muslim, I'm not jewish, I'm not relligious, I'm not an atheïst. I'm simply myself, and I love Taize. Taize brings people together. It doesn't matter where you come from, what your sexuality is or which skincolor you have. Taize is love.
As a Christian it saddens me greatly to read comments about the "Gay" subject.
We surely shouldn't judge people, Jesus is the one to Judge.
Everyone is equally worthy of the Gift of Love, whether a person doesn't agree with someones choice of lifestyle is not really our business,
Each Christian has his/her own personal relationship with God and that is their's we shouldn't ever exclude or judge someone because of difference, if we do then we are the ones in the wrong!
I've just been asked if I would like to go to Taizé in July with our Church and Diocese. Was a bit concerned about whether I would fit in being 30 years old and going to help with our group.
But the more I read the more thirsty I am to want to visit Taizé Seem to get the feeling that it is a life time experience that can change you forever.
I found it really nice! (though, there was someone who shat on the walls in the lavatory, haha). I don't really know if they teach the chants in latin, but they have different workshops - singing workshop for example.
Please keep your judgement for yourself. Taizé brings everyone together. Either the sceptic non-believers or the hopeful believers. I recommend this place to you for I wish the best for you. Peace of Christ be with you.
This is just nonsense and an insult against not just Christ but against all sane judgement. Also, the songs are pure crap. I guess most people there are gay, nuts or either on drugs.

"Gays" (=perverts) are condemned for their immoral behaviour (such as calling people scum) everywhere in the bible. Other than, those imbeciles are pretty much ruining their own lives with their sick life style. It's your duty to start living a balanced and sane life again.
We still know very little about gays, why they are gays, is it s disorder or...?But, we do know that GOD loves the world so much that He sent His only Son to die for them. We don't have authority to condemn them! I know many gay and lesbian Christians, (one is a priest:) I do think they too have a place in God's creation. I find them more sensitive, artistic and less judgmental many of us. So, please love your Gay/Lesbian neighbor too!
@evalewis1 Maybe its a sin, maybe its not. Maybe it is for some people, maybe not for others. Why are some people dominant in relationships, why are others submissive. No-one should judge any one else. Mainly because we all have too many faults ourselves. But we all want to be loved and to be touched by others. We are all weak and pretend we're doing OK when we are not. And the only person who seemed to have most of the answers is Jesus of Nazereth.
also ich war letztes wochenende in taizé und es hat mir total gefallen, einfach sich selbst kennenlernen, andere kennenlernen, gott & jesus kennenlernen...
