Charging implies your feet were moving right before contact, and Downie had both feet planted. Downie did leave his feet and looked like there was intent to injure. I played competitive hockey for several years and I can tell you a play like this happens in a split second. If McAmmond gets his head up faster Downie misses him. The game is changing and more speed means bigger impacts, more injures especially head injuries. I hope the league can minimize injures without slowing down the game.

B. Downie is going FAST

In no way shape or form is that a clean hit. Downie jumps as high as he can to hit him and also followed through with his elbow, on top of that it was a head shot! That kind of hit especially in the pre-season in absolutely ridiculous!
