Probably my favorite song from the album. So positive, colorful, sunny, inspiring... beautiful! Love the soaring back vocals, the beat and the overall chord sequence. Brilliant melody!
what a fukin brill song, one on my favs, love the voice the lyrics the music, and the beat, david marry me x, id push a pram for you anyday x. love this talented rock star, noone can touch him , hes god, x
I am very sorry that you have mistaken the lyrics. Not only does the correct spelling of "defenceless" remain as "defenceless" but the words surely remain "save the slogan" "And love is not loving" "the priest that tastes the word" and not only those but also "sweeping over 'cross a baby". I hope that you might redo the clip with THE corrections, as otherwise it's a great job!
I love the way you have created the visual experience with the lyrics subtitled. Very profesionally and tastefully done. I hardly ever notice the usual home made vids on you tube but yours compliments and actually adds to this great understated early Bowie song. Very enjoyable. Thanks
The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the spiders from mars is a fucking masterpiece. The only change that I would make (and I have thought about this since buying my first copy in 1972) would be to exchange "velvet goldmine"
for "it ain't easy". David Bowie is the musical talent and genius in an individual that the Beatles were as a group.
@redsandmountain ''Love'' is not loving him. ''Love'' doesn't treat him very well. ''Love'' hates him. I thank that's basically it. He has problems with problem (because it's ''careless in its choosing''.
@botbagel what about the line from ziggy stardust: " like a leper messiah" ? that one makes me chuckles everytime. youd never see a modern music artist come close to thinking up something like that
One of my favorite guitar songs of all time. What Mick Ronson does with his sound is great! The little harmonic riffs between lyrics, the way he keeps it melodic and fades out low-key instead of going wild like other songs require. It all comes together here, backup vocals, sax, guitar riffs.
I first heard this when I was 10 years old at my brothers mates. He was gettin down to 5 years and I was wonderin what the hell kinda place I was in! And then it started... Soul Love. I've been in love ever since
what an album, classic after classic.. i love u david bowie!!! :)

The subtitles are slightly wrong. For instance: it's not "to see the slogan", but "to save the slogan"...
Fernagomes 1 year ago
@Fernagomes you do one then smartarse , don't criticise unless you can do better
"for instance" most ppl already know the lyrics anyway , way too quick to judge......
goonchistaw 1 year ago
@goonchistaw Who are you to tell me who I should criticize or not? And why are you taking my comment negatively?

This lyrics are just amazing. They could easily be included in an anthology of great XX Century Poetry. Real art is timeless!
