i think im in love with Bjork <3 she amazes me everytime, people who say this isn't music are those who listen to the hype that record companies patch and mash today and release, then re-release, then remix, then get someone else terrible to cover a year later, so don't deserve to hear Bjork perform anyway.
It's artists like this who give me hope I music ... Because if this lady can get on TV for sounding like me when I was 5, I can totally land a record deal now ....
@Leachimification He's using triggers for some of those speed rolls. That's not to say that it's not very, very impressive what he's doing, but metal drummers have been using this trick for a while now and electronic drummers are starting to incorporate it more and more.
not the biggest fan of biophillia. i just dont think she's into it herself. BJoooork! But this is not the place for the debate. I hope she comes out with another album thats closer to her.
OK, strictly speaking 'hearts' doesn't rhyme with 'quartz'. But, hey, Björk's seductive trilled 'r' in both words more than makes up for that. And her come-hither look direct to camera when she sings 'love' straight after is incredibly beguiling...
I said to my friend the other day "I wish I was an Icelandic girl" And he went "O_O Ok, why???" I said "So I can tour with Bjork! :D!" He said "Who the hell is that?" I proceeded to punch him square in the face. I got detention but it was sooooo worth it!
can't help myself... in 1997 she's got so timeless beats on "hunter" for instance and now - this breakbeat/core stuff in the end is simply a million times used thing
@Sparkonetwo Actually she's stated before something that may sound that she IS indeed influenced by dubstep:
"In 96, I was in a very specific place with my own music-- I was only listening to beats. You would come to my house, and I would just play beats all day. Part of it was because I was in London, which is very much about beats. Now, I walk into the Rough Trade Shops, and 80% of the stuff there is [beat-based]: drum and bass, dubstep, two-step, techno, hardcore trance. "
this set of bjork's has made my month, esp Thunderbolt. and the voice is so alluringly different now- wish someone who knew about voices could tell me how it's changed.
and didja know that bjork had nodules on her throat when touring the Post album, too?
i read that the beat explosion at the end is called an Amen Break,
Bjork doesn't get half the respect she deserves - and she seems to be getting more radical as she gets older. I thought this was amazing...who the fuck cares what the beat is called by DJ's?
@WhereisFluffy714 you speak my mind there. i have this secret dream of collaborating with Bjork. I think her latest record Biophiliais available with computer apps so as people can electronicly explore music...there is no substitute for the real Bjork i feel...
When I heard this song for the first time I thought it was a sort of sequencer dubbed over his playing. But, no, this is a flesh and blood person rocking the drums in an unprecented way.
@Sparkonetwo hmmm, can't really call this song dubstep, it's beyond genre sudivisions, but i think bjork is probably inspired by dubstep to a degree, as she chose to work with 16Bit on this track and Mutual Core, after hearing their dubstep tracks played to her by Chris Cunningham...
@emiliowong gamaleste :P she had all these mental instruments made up for the album.... check out the thunderbolt one that doody making the lightning is actually playing that bassline... it aint just pretty lights :P
@tannernotch Lol! Course it's her real hair. As well as Icelandic blood, it's well known that she's probably part Eskimo (eyes), part African (nebulous afro hair) and part extraterrestrial (everything else).
I like the breakbeat/core on the album but on the single version and here it's for me like wtf, really. first time in a long time that I put a dislike on B's video
Interesting to consider that Bjork's basically been getting stronger as a songwriter/composer. Is it possible that her best music is still in the future?
I am speechless. What amazing performances. I have no words to describe how much I love this genius of a woman. Her music changed my life, altered my mortal mind forever. Bjork, please, don't ever stop making music, and bless us with this art. Biophilia is an amazing experience. Thank You!

You've got to love her, if only for her infectious joy in doing this and for employing half the totty in Reykjavik, generally propping up Iceland's economy and keeping the Wall Street vultures at bay.
Performance was okay, could have been better. They need to do something about that weakass drum machine, though. My heart was still intact when the drop came in!
Great performance! And to the people saying she sounds 'tired' are you sure it's not because she sounds different? She had a vocal chord nodule, so naturally she would have to re-evaluate her singing techniques. I personally think she sounds great and I'm loving the new record!
