It reminds me of how my parents (and little sister) used to like me playing video games. Now, my little sister is a preppy, prissy teenybopper who likes romance books, and my parents forbid my life to have anything to do with video games because they want me to be "normal".
Since realitly shows are the thing nowdays they should have a new channel or just take off alot of shows on G4 and place gamers and the geeks and the nerds on it talking about games and comics from there houses.
The story about Scot Rubin leaving G4 is an interesting one. I heard that the reason had something to do with the G4techTV merger. Apparently, Scot was a big fan of TechTV, and when the news came that the acquisition had been completed, he was under the impression that the network would be exactly as the G4 executives promised him it would be. But it turned out it wouldn't be (as the merger was only temporary), and feeling betrayed, he decided to leave the network for good.
sorry for all the gamers who miss this g4 i miss it too but they only plsy what they psly now becuase not enough gamers were watching atleast they still have xplay

@AlphaCoolio I think AOTS will feature alot of UFC interviews and segments, if it survives (assuming the acquisition happens). I honestly think XPlay is in danger of biting the dust. If XPlay gets canned then I think Adam and Morgan will move to the internet (possibly reuniting with Leo Laporte and the gang by getting a show on TWiT, since TWiT is in the middle of a pretty big expansion).
Goddamn I miss TechTv(&G4TechTv),when they first merged it was awesomeness,but over the years ironically the ratings went up but the awesomeness went down,as soon as Kevin,Tina,and Laura(and a few more) left it all went downhill for the the originals,I'm gonna cry,its so sad................seeing how bad the new G4 is,Lets have a moment of silence for G4TechTv
I remeber just waking up every day smiling and waiting for G4 to come on and now, every time at 9:00 I just skip over the WHOLE channel and just watch something else.
I miss the days when you could leave G4 on all day and care to change it, now the second Cops or Cheaters comes on I HAVE to change the channel or else I'll have to take a shower for feeling dirty and grimey.
Really is a shame... wish there was a real gamer TV network I don't understand why companies don't take a chance on it seeing as the gaming industry is only one of the big industries in the world and all...
@warsman111 Yeah, but AOTS isn't really what it used to be. I actually like the new X-Play though. It isn't as funny, but at least they talk about games now. In 2006-2007 X-Play felt like it was just a skit show. It really needed an overhaul, and I'm glad they gave it one. I still miss Ratty, and Johnny Xtreme though. :(

The unfortunate end of a great show. I use to always look forward to seeing upcoming shows. Yet another bad move by the powers up on high. They could have just this once left this channel's line up alone for us gamers. They took all the good stuff away...this show...Portal...and others. What the heck were they thinking? Gamers ain't normal folks/ TV viewers. When will they ever get it?
I can't believe how good this channel USED to be. As much as it sucks to see what it is now, I'm glad that I got to experience it when it debuted. Before G4, the show "Extended Play" was the only place you would see video games on tv. These guys really paved the way.

My family FINALLY got digital cable when Attack of the Show first started with Sarah Lane and Xplay had the set with the arcade machines and the tetris sorta table with Morgan with long black hair. I totally did not have the chance to watch these shows and its sad. New channels are changing wayyyy to fast these days. I remember when I first had cable and the Food Network was just a dude or a girl cooking for 30mins. It seemed so down to earth. 2000s suck
@N64Guy Code Monkeys isn't even on anymore which is sad. AOTS is still good in my opinion but i miss Will O'Neal, Zach Selwyn, Layla Kayleigh, and Office Jesus. X-Play is so different from the 1st time i saw it. it's basically mini-AOTS only JUST about games. E3 and Comic-Con are still awesome

I agree. Every once and I while I'll flip to it and, almost every single time, its just cops or an old movie that they've already shown dozens of times. The only shows on the channel I like are AOTS and X Play but even those shows have gotten worse.
g4tv never belonged in a premium package. It should have been basic cable from the beginning. Considering what they show now on discovery channel and SpikeTV, it's ridiculous that more video game shows don't exist. If stupid reality TV shows are successful on VH1, then Scot, Tina, and Laura deserve another go at video games shows.

Apart from AOTS and X-play, G4 has really lost it's charm. What's a network for gamers doing showing Cops and Cheaters? It's like Lifetime showing UFC...
It lost it's diginty, Reason , and everything else. I only watch X-Play now. Watching this the first time broke my heart. They replaced this with Star Trek. It's a DAMN shame of what happen to G4 and TechTV. Everything about it was very orginal and very cool. Now it's like every other TV station that plays Cops or other shit like that. When they started showing The Man Show I KNEW that it was turley the start of a downfall that just kept going and still going to this day.
g4 is g4tv. techtv turned into g4 after the REAL creator sold it to g4..they fired alot of people and people was left out of a job. they fucked up right there.
the owner of g4tv already stated he don't want it to be a video-game tv station anymore. he wants it to be like spike-tv.

You're kidding right islespatrick. What network do you know actually goes back to what they "were". If G4 goes out of business that's it, they are done, there is no going back. Really good example would be CartoonNetwork's Toonami. Not that they went out of business per-say, but they are KOed done and you don't see them going back to what they were when they started. That's like asking TheCW to go back to Fox Kids for Saturday/Sunday morning cartoons. It ain't gonna happen.

I was watching G4 today, and I looked at the schedule and saw Web Soup, Cheaters, even more Cheaters, Cops, even more Cops, some movie, some paid program, and about 6 more episodes of Cops.

I seriously miss television like this. Heck, I remember first getting cable back in the early 90s and the FOOD NETWORK felt sorta like this. I miss natural programing. Its really ironic how as soon as cable focused on the "reality" stuff, in all honesty it was the end of REALITY.

My favorite episode is when they're talking about GTA San Andreas, because I was so fucking hyped about that game at the time. This show will be missed. :(

I wish G4 would put the old shows back on for 1 week and compare the ratings from that week of those shows to the shows they nomaly play, I'm sure more people would watch these shows then what they are showing now.

I agree. Every once and I while I'll flip to it and, almost every single time, its just cops or an old movie that they've already shown dozens of times. The only shows on the channel I like are AOTS and X Play but even those shows have gotten worse.

g4tv never belonged in a premium package. It should have been basic cable from the beginning. Considering what they show now on discovery channel and SpikeTV, it's ridiculous that more video game shows don't exist. If stupid reality TV shows are successful on VH1, then Scot, Tina, and Laura deserve another go at video games shows.

It lost it's diginty, Reason , and everything else. I only watch X-Play now. Watching this the first time broke my heart. They replaced this with Star Trek. It's a DAMN shame of what happen to G4 and TechTV. Everything about it was very orginal and very cool. Now it's like every other TV station that plays Cops or other shit like that. When they started showing The Man Show I KNEW that it was turley the start of a downfall that just kept going and still going to this day.

g4 is g4tv. techtv turned into g4 after the REAL creator sold it to g4..they fired alot of people and people was left out of a job. they fucked up right there.
the owner of g4tv already stated he don't want it to be a video-game tv station anymore. he wants it to be like spike-tv.

Yeah it sucks hard. AOTS/screen savers and X-play were always my favorite shows but its gay that they're now the only thing left of tech TV. Maybe somethin will happen in the future....the very distant future

but they changed because they were not gettin enough views (now they are gettin none).
spike tv was once junk tv (only aired shows like blind-date, wwe and game-shows) but i guess they matured.
g4tv is worst then cartoon network. like when i watch them i be askin myself "wtf were they thinking ?".

You're kidding right islespatrick. What network do you know actually goes back to what they "were". If G4 goes out of business that's it, they are done, there is no going back. Really good example would be CartoonNetwork's Toonami. Not that they went out of business per-say, but they are KOed done and you don't see them going back to what they were when they started. That's like asking TheCW to go back to Fox Kids for Saturday/Sunday morning cartoons. It ain't gonna happen.

I was watching G4 today, and I looked at the schedule and saw Web Soup, Cheaters, even more Cheaters, Cops, even more Cops, some movie, some paid program, and about 6 more episodes of Cops.
Seriously, someone pull the plug on this station. It's like watching a loved one die and walk around as a zombie. You just wanna end it.

I seriously miss television like this. Heck, I remember first getting cable back in the early 90s and the FOOD NETWORK felt sorta like this. I miss natural programing. Its really ironic how as soon as cable focused on the "reality" stuff, in all honesty it was the end of REALITY.

we still have gametrailers, gamespot and other game web sites.
but nothing can compare to old school techtv/early g4. it was just soo original! "tv station for gamers and game news with a cool talk-show"...it was just perfect!
i wish gametrailers or ign would make a tv station or somthing. show g4tv what they could had been if they would had never changed their tv station theme.
