hi macnice video , my son has an acer m1640 2 ghz celeron /ram 1.25 /60gb hdd
which he uses for homework , now he wants to upgrade so he can do his homework faster!! (to play wow me thinks :) ) I wonder if you could advise as to what might be the best hardware to order ... ram/hdd/graphics card / and is it pretty straightforward to upgrade yourself? thanks !!
@jrichardson6 Hi, a new graphics card would help alot, but a 2ghz celeron will struggle for alot of newer games, its very easy to upgrade yourself just look on YT for a graphics card installation tutorial.
This is what I have, the Acer Aspire M1640. Is it decent for gaming though? Like I want to play all the high end games, but I need to know if they'll run fine if I get a high-end video card.
@OmegaCalibur It's fine for older games, but if you want a decent graphics card you will most likely need a bigger power supply, and the processor isn't very powerful so it will struggle even with a big graphics card on quite a few of the newer games.
Well I can wait of course to get a new motherboard. But in the mean time for example, games like Elder Scrolls Oblivion and Fallout 3 + New Vegas. Would those play fine?
@L33tsp3akftw haha if u make the screen super small just enuf so u can read the chat i can play it on max customs... BTW shadow detail is what makes the game lag the most so make sure thats all the way down or u will lag
Have you had any problems with this GPU and gaming? my screen just ent all fuzzy and jittery after loading a large-ish program using the OpenGL java library, which is quite graphic demanding, like some games.
(2.6GHz, 2MB L2 cache, 800MHz FSB) Cpu For A Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 cpu 3.00gHz Its better right?

Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 cpu 3.00gHz

Windows 7 Home Premium
What would be a good affordable option so I can run games like Elder Scrolls Oblivion with hdr bloom ect enabled(I already run it on my current specs but bloom hdr lags game) and gta 4.
@spiky502 No no no lol. The Pentium Dual Core might have a slower Clock speed that the P4 but its a genuine dual core not a single core with hyper threading making it look like a dual core. I had an Pentium Dual Core 1.8ghz and it was enough for most games a year or so ago. I honestly wouldn't have a clue regarding those games on this chip-set as Ive never played them except GTA IV which may run but GTA SA wasn't that smooth so wouldn't expect much from that game on this PC.
I got a Emachines ET1831 Dual-Core Pentium @2.70 GHz 750HD 4GB RAM with an onboard 7050. MW2 lags so bad it's completely unplayable. Any suggestions on any upgrades without buying a whole new computer?
@macman2256 Thanks for the reply. The graphics card is intergrated but maybe I have a slot for another card. I'll look into it. Another possible problem is it has a small power supply with litle upgrade options. Thanks again.
@DeeStinger1 You could look at getting a card like a low power nvidia 9600gt or something like that since they only use power from the PCI-E slot and do not require extra power.
@macman2256 I really appreciate you help. I'll look into it. Sure will be nice to get to play again. I'm a disabled vet and MW2 is one of my only joys in life. Bless You my friend.
@macman2256 do you think there going to run the same in my....WINDOWS 7 HOME PREMIUM 64 BIT............................. INTEL CELERON PROCESSOR 420 NVIDIA GEFORCE 7050 INTERGRATED....... 320 GB HHD..3 GB DDR2 MEMORY
@ROOSTER10X They should, on the system I made this video on had a Pentium Dual core which is much faster than a celeron so it may be a little slower if the game relies on the cpu.
@flamingbunny23 What are you wanting to play? the games I showed on this video? If this is the case it should play them fine, but your CPU is pretty gutless so if you do ever get a new graphics card you will want a bigger CPU.
@flamingbunny23 I would think so, Ive never personally seen the HD3200 but I would think that it can run older games on lower settings/resolutions fine.
@LapenoFactory It was never designed to be a gaming Graphics card, its just for running windows and apps etc . Alot of video cards struggle with gta iv LOL
@don2xify Firstly you need to check out if you have a PCI-Express X16 Slot on your motherboard. Also you mentioned you have a Celeron Cpu, the cpu will bottleneck the 9800, so the 9800 is a waste of money, i would go for something like a 9600gt to go with a celeron.
@macman2256 yeah uhh...sorry but i'm no good with computers.. xD How do i check the PCI-Express X16 Slot? and what do u mean the cpu will bottleneck the 9800? :)
@don2xify When I say the CPU will bottleneck the video card is that Basically your cpu will be pushed too 100% while the video card won't really be doing much on alot of newer games. You can open your case and check for a pci-e slot, I can't really help much further....
@don2xify It will mean that your CPU will hold back the power of a 9800. My old Pentium Dual Core was underpowered for my old 8600gt so yea.... a 9800gt is over the top for a cpu as low end as the celeron.
@don2xify It won't harm your PC unless your power supply isn't big enough, i would suggest you take your PC into a computer shop and get them to do it for you and they can suggest a video card for you.
CSS? I assume you mean Counter Strike... It should play that OK, I highly doubt it would run GTA IV as it runs GTA SA pretty badly. This is a very simple card not really meant for gaming, but older games it runs fine
im can play all games highest resolution and highest graphic with my nvidia geforce gt220 and inel dual core 2.6 ghz :D, and im got this computetr and its card to :D
dude when u were playing gta san andreas, u used 800x600 resolution.. anyway.. o have the same graphic card and gta sa runs with 1024x768 / 32*color, but without some bullshit filters.
wow thats pretty good, i just got a 19'' moniter wide screen and i cant play cod4 on 1440x900 lol but yeah i can play cod4 on low settings on single player. on multiplayer i can run it fine on medium lol
Hey, i no longer have this pc. I assume cod4 would work on lower settings fine. Ive got a kick ass pc now with a ati 4870 and that runs cod4 at like 100+frames per second at 1920x1080 LOL
There are so many graphics cards out there now so im not sure of the best card, all i can say is that the intel celeron is the lowest end of the intel cpu range and it is not suited for intense gaming, so a big video card won't do much if your cpu can't keep up
hey thats basically the same setup i had, it will run games the same as on here, although it will be smoother than what the video shows since i used fraps to record game play, and that slows game play down, games like battlefield 2 run very smooth at 800x600 on high
Thanks for that comment. Some people don't realise that people don't need to spend 500+ $ on a video card to play games. i only did this video to show how it ran. I did upgrade to a 8600gts shortly after doing this video
No. When i had that machine i upgraded to a 8600gts ddr3 512mb. My current system which is my 24" 2.8ghz core 2 duo imac has a ATI HD 2600 PRO. 256mb GDDR3
Well I don't have that machine anymore, but yes it did play it on high settings with out AA and only on 800x600. It lagged a little with very heavy smoke but it was very nice compared to low settings, the Framerate was smooth!
Onboard video runs off your chipset. Onboard video isn't to bad depending on you friends needs. Nvidia onboard graphics are quite good and can handle games like need for speed etc. not on high settings but it can run them...
If the pc says onboard graphics or onboard chipset graphics that means that the graphics are built into the motherboard. So you do not require an extra graphics card.
Yeah I knew that it was built into the motherboard I was just confused because I thought you meant it doesnt work by itself it just adds power to a real GFX card so I got confused rofl
do you have to disable the onboard graphics card to put a new one in? Or how exactly do you put a new one in? I have a pci-e x16 slot. and a pci-e x 1 slot. cuz im trying to play gta 4 and the 7050 is just not gonna cut it.
when you have inserted the graphics card into the pci express x16 slot it automatically disables onboard video, have a look on youtube for how to install a video card if you are not sure on how to
When you get a new graphics card. The motherboard will use the graphics card in the PCI-Ex16 or AGP slot as default so you do not need to disable onboard graphics. Basically when you put in a graphics card it disables the onboard untill you take out the graphics card.
That system will run most games. But the 8500gt is crap. Go for a 8600gt or 8800gt. With that system the 8500gt will be bottlenecking it and you wont get the true gaming perfromance.
i need help, do i A buy a comp with good specs and the 7050 256mb ram intergrated or do i wait a month and get a similar specced machine but with a 1gb nvidia 8500 gt this machine will be for gaming mainly, stuff like wow and farcry 2 all the big hits like gta 4
Hi. If you want to mainly use the PC for Gaming I would go for the 8500GT 1GB. But that probably would struggle with GTA 4 I would recommend a 8600GT as That will run most games on the market today and don't really cost anymore than a 8500gt.
Thanks for the comment. Just so you know the program FRAPS that is use to record the screen play reduces the frame rates. The games i have show run quite smooth.
im gettin a new mobo on saturday (hopefully) with a 7100 chip. Lol i cant wait because at the moment im using a mobo with a shitty sis mirage chip, lol.
well...mi graphic card is not 7100, is a geforce 7150 64mb video , but still sucks...it easily run san andreas, y play team fortress 2 everything on very high, 32 players online , no problem...but i cannot run crysis! lol! serachin on the web i chek that my video card is one step better than the normal video cards for a lap! now i love it , y play farcry, penumbra , doom3, tf2 , halflife episode 2...everytginh on high/very high settings!!!

i have an Acer aspire cpu duel 2.2 ghz, 2gb ram, Nvidia GeForced 7050 intergrated vista
Reece6911 2 years ago
hey thats basically the same setup i had, it will run games the same as on here, although it will be smoother than what the video shows since i used fraps to record game play, and that slows game play down, games like battlefield 2 run very smooth at 800x600 on high
macman2256 2 years ago
ill take my 295 sli over that

if u came here to show off ur geekiness then no one cares.
burberrybedroom 2 years ago
Thanks for that comment. Some people don't realise that people don't need to spend 500+ $ on a video card to play games. i only did this video to show how it ran. I did upgrade to a 8600gts shortly after doing this video
macman2256 2 years ago
doing btr than me then i only got a GT lol but still runs cod4 and all me other games at 60+ fps

DakineandFriends 2 years ago
No this is on the 7100 card. i upgraded after this video was made. i could run bf2 on high settings at lower resolutions.
macman2256 2 years ago
so alls u have is the onboard card the geforce 7100 right?
DakineandFriends 2 years ago
No. When i had that machine i upgraded to a 8600gts ddr3 512mb. My current system which is my 24" 2.8ghz core 2 duo imac has a ATI HD 2600 PRO. 256mb GDDR3
macman2256 2 years ago

TheAwesomeDudes 3 years ago
I wouldn't have a clue sorry
macman2256 2 years ago
7200, but you are better off getting a 8400, its not a gaming card, but it will run some games well, and its only £30.
conizme1 2 years ago
do you play bf2 on high? and does it lag if you play it with high?
zalmkaas 3 years ago
Well I don't have that machine anymore, but yes it did play it on high settings with out AA and only on 800x600. It lagged a little with very heavy smoke but it was very nice compared to low settings, the Framerate was smooth!
macman2256 3 years ago
eh But Is Good For Thoses Games Of 2005 To 2006 They Still Whit Max Grafics There Less in 2007!
Oiazideia 3 years ago
Man I Hate That Vid Card I want To Play Crysis GTA IV farcry 2 This Games Is Awesome!!!
Oiazideia 3 years ago
Why don't you upgrade to a better card. You can get one for under 140$ that can play those games.
macman2256 3 years ago
I thought the onboard7100's were usually being shipped with the nForce 630i chipsets?
mousse21 3 years ago
It was i think.
macman2256 3 years ago
i have the same graphics card :)
fannypenis 3 years ago
i have a crappy old laptop and my FPS is never over 10 in any game... After a while you get used to it and you play like a pro.
Sxkcils 3 years ago
is a 256 NVIDIA GeForce 6 shit?
joebadams4 3 years ago
Its pretty old so yea its shit. It depends on your gaming needs as to how well it performs
macman2256 3 years ago
Is an onboard 7100 better than this onboard chipset? My friend has a super crappy computer and I was looking to buy him the cheapest pc possible
MaxiMachine 3 years ago
Onboard video runs off your chipset. Onboard video isn't to bad depending on you friends needs. Nvidia onboard graphics are quite good and can handle games like need for speed etc. not on high settings but it can run them...
macman2256 3 years ago
Well yeah, but that means you do not require a graphics card right?
MaxiMachine 3 years ago
If the pc says onboard graphics or onboard chipset graphics that means that the graphics are built into the motherboard. So you do not require an extra graphics card.
macman2256 3 years ago
Yeah I knew that it was built into the motherboard I was just confused because I thought you meant it doesnt work by itself it just adds power to a real GFX card so I got confused rofl
MaxiMachine 3 years ago
do you have to disable the onboard graphics card to put a new one in? Or how exactly do you put a new one in? I have a pci-e x16 slot. and a pci-e x 1 slot. cuz im trying to play gta 4 and the 7050 is just not gonna cut it.
boredjoey 3 years ago
when you have inserted the graphics card into the pci express x16 slot it automatically disables onboard video, have a look on youtube for how to install a video card if you are not sure on how to
macman2256 3 years ago
ok thanks a bunch man.
boredjoey 3 years ago
Lol. You have to plug your Monitor into the Video Card.
SizzlingMonkey 3 years ago
i have the same gpu...
but i'm saving for a 4870 x2
xD
maybe next year i can buy one T-T

hey i have a nivdia 7100 Xt 128mb
can it play left 4 dead
KillerSweeTTooth 3 years ago
I honestly dont know. As i sold the pc that had that card.
macman2256 3 years ago
hey i have onboard graphics but i wanna get a new graphics card when i disable my onboard graphics. will my vga and dvi ports be usless?
djschaum520 3 years ago
When you get a new graphics card. The motherboard will use the graphics card in the PCI-Ex16 or AGP slot as default so you do not need to disable onboard graphics. Basically when you put in a graphics card it disables the onboard untill you take out the graphics card.
macman2256 3 years ago
are you sure and btw the cpu is only a 2.2Ghz but with a bit of help i could easy oc that to a 2.4 or a 2.5 with the stock fan.
mayney1222 3 years ago
what about an ATI hd 3850? is that any good?
mayney1222 3 years ago
That should be fine
macman2256 3 years ago
how much more will it cost to upgrade to a 8800 or a 8600?
mayney1222 3 years ago
an 8600gt should be 10-20$ more than a 8500gt, and 8800gt is about twice the price of the 8500 or 8600gt
macman2256 3 years ago
so yr telling me that a quad core at 2.4 and 3-4 gb of ddr2 ram on a nvidia 8500 gt 1gb or up will run most of todays games and next years games?
mayney1222 3 years ago
That system will run most games. But the 8500gt is crap. Go for a 8600gt or 8800gt. With that system the 8500gt will be bottlenecking it and you wont get the true gaming perfromance.
macman2256 3 years ago
i need help, do i A buy a comp with good specs and the 7050 256mb ram intergrated or do i wait a month and get a similar specced machine but with a 1gb nvidia 8500 gt this machine will be for gaming mainly, stuff like wow and farcry 2 all the big hits like gta 4
mayney1222 3 years ago
Hi. If you want to mainly use the PC for Gaming I would go for the 8500GT 1GB. But that probably would struggle with GTA 4 I would recommend a 8600GT as That will run most games on the market today and don't really cost anymore than a 8500gt.
macman2256 3 years ago
nice bro i got the same comp as you

macman2256 3 years ago
will cod4 work on a 7100? or cod 5
ihatevideos12 3 years ago
actually yes i can run cod 4 on all settings low and there's a little lag but i wouldn't recomend it.
P.S i have a nvidia 7050
devilman662 3 years ago
i have nvidia 7050 (onboard) and i can play with cod 4, medium, no AA with 20-30FPS...
Karee1X 3 years ago
cool man thx now i know how this graficcard will run on my new PC ;)
5/5!
btw: u killed captain keyes nooooo xD
Akamaru333 3 years ago
Thanks for the comment. Just so you know the program FRAPS that is use to record the screen play reduces the frame rates. The games i have show run quite smooth.
macman2256 3 years ago
im gettin a new mobo on saturday (hopefully) with a 7100 chip. Lol i cant wait because at the moment im using a mobo with a shitty sis mirage chip, lol.
dodykid4ever 3 years ago
This video is gaming on my acer aspires onboard graphics. i have now upgraded to a 1gb 8600gt. so gaming is much better.
macman2256 3 years ago

GGGG760 3 years ago
its maybe you processor i got a 7100 and i play gta san andreas!
GGGG760 3 years ago
my processor is fine. i can play san andreas. just when using the video recorder fraps, it slows game play down.Gta sa was very playable
macman2256 3 years ago
well...mi graphic card is not 7100, is a geforce 7150 64mb video , but still sucks...it easily run san andreas, y play team fortress 2 everything on very high, 32 players online , no problem...but i cannot run crysis! lol! serachin on the web i chek that my video card is one step better than the normal video cards for a lap! now i love it , y play farcry, penumbra , doom3, tf2 , halflife episode 2...everytginh on high/very high settings!!!
gac3la 3 years ago
Also Guys BF2 never lags. it only lags when using fraps
