Yamaha for 07 and 08 I know forsure has but a shitty stock pipe on their bikes and robbs hp...also the 07 YZ450F is known to have cracked frames...some were cold welded and that makes the welds very weak. Just a heads up...All bikes are great and I am sure you will have fun with whatever you get but From my experience I would go with Honda...Very realiable

I would have to say its a great bike for 09 BUT it is a new bike for this year...its not always a good idea to buy a first year bike...wait til 2010 comes out and buy it. Or if you still want a great bike buy an 08 CRF450R...I have one of 500 Limited Edition bikes and it woops the shit out of my 06...The only complaint I have is first gear is way too high....It takes a bit to get used to it. honda should have learnt from yamaha with those shorty silencers. yamahas built there muffler 4 the yzf to the 96 db guidelines or watever they were and obviously they build the pipe for as much power possible and still the said the longer pipe was better , so y the hell is honda doing the same thing wen yamaha already made that mistake. the only thing it did was make the back lighter by a few grams and the header pipe will put back those grams wen it clogs up with mud.

there comes a time when performance should stop increasing. on both stock and modified machines. fuel injection was a genius idea for quads, but for a bike just over 200lbs and already does like 85 or 90mph stock, putting efi on it is just insane. people are gonna start dying on these things if companys dont stop worrying more about profit than its loyal customers. dont say we arent loyal, because thousands argue everyday which atv/mx company is better than the other

I think the main reason for going with fuel injection is the consistency of the fuel mixture, smooth power delivery, and easier tuning. Honda is selling a efi programmer as an accessory, how cool it will be to not bathe my hands in fuel whenever I need to make an adjustment. IMO fuel injection is the right direction for the MFG's to take, and it's what the consumers want.

also, I dont think the header pipe is going to be a big issue, it's up pretty high, higher than the pipe on my 06' RM250 and a smaller target than 2 stroke pipes, I haven't had any huge issues in regards to significant rock damge or even mud buildup on the 2 stroke. I think the pipe routing will become a non-issue on the CRF450R. They are using Stainless steel for the pipe so it should be pretty tough.

hey fuckhead... r&d's job isn't fashion, its making part that work better. its a fact that a longer headpipe gives you better bottom end power, and the longer the header is before it reaches the muffler, the quieter it is. the sound level drops to 94db next season so sound is an issue. the pipe is hideous, but it is brilliant!
