I remember that shot of the above-street train from their HD premiere promos. I like it. I do miss Heart of Our City... enforcer is SO overused! it's good music, but it's used everywhere! and @HulkieG I kind of agree about the L3rds, and how they popped in and up and down and back out... haha. I loved the movement but i think it was a little much. i like the subtle movement of the new ones, how the CBS logo kinda slides out and the rest dissolves.
I think Channel 2 can pull a comeback here. Walter Jacobson and Bill Kurtis at 6pm, Harry Porterfield with Roseanne Tellez at 11am. Hiring back recognizable personnel might do wonders for these guys. Along with the recognizable look, too.
Yes! The Enforcer theme is back! I didn't really like the Heart of the City theme that much...it was good for the time, but it just had to go eventually.
Also, continuing from my previous comment, on second thought, the shot of the train is justifiable, as I think much of their audience would use public transportation and would be coming home from work by the time this newscast aired.
Also, the cut of Enforcer used here isn't bad, it's just that I don't like Chris Gari's composing style much, or Frank's instrumentation, and they should commission a new package with this sig from someone else. Maybe Arnold or 615?
I'm going to buck the trend and say that I do like this look on WBBM.
The graphics were a little too flashy for me. If I lived there, I'd be annoyed with how the lower thirds would constantly pop in and out with that animation. Not that the WCBS look is perfect, but I think it's better.
Plus, nothing against Heart of the City as a package... but Enforcer is to WBBM what Move Closer is to WPVI. It's their music. It has a history there, so they should be using it.
@HulkieG Well, to each their own, but I find this look, especially anything outside of the opens, tacky. They could at least shake up the colors.
The opens, however, do have a good idea: rely on the shots in the background and not just the computer graphics. WBBM did a stupid thing by choosing to recycle a shot of a train, instead of showing off the city or something about it.
@Mrtraveler01 If KDKA gets this, they shuld still use their current music (and announcer) and I hope KD's sister station (Both in the GroupW days and now,) KYW would get this also!
@videonut33 I agree, Hometown Advantage would work perfectly with this open. It'll be interesting to see what KYW does in terms of the open. I'll miss their current package but I always like their graphics so hopefully they won't disappoint me this time.
@videonut33 oh and KD's sister Group W station, KYW got the GFX. Kept the music, announcer (WPHL alum, Paul Turner), and the 2005 "Eyewitness News" logo (Thanks Pyburn!!!) and the "EYEWITNESS NEWS" logotype from 2003 during the "The New Face of Local News" period.
@videonut33 Guess what? They did get those graphics, KDKA News is still KDKA News, but they did change their theme to The Enforcer. They primarily use the WCBS cut of The Enforcer.
I can't believe that WBBM got rid of their great, unique graphics and music for this cookie cutter crap and Enforcer. The opening shot is of a train, of all things!
I don't even live in Chicago and I hate this change.
Also,
@Stealthguy06 This is an update to Enforcer. New Generation 2, I think.

they look great... NY, LA, CHI, DALLAS, DENVER.. now if they'd *only* fix WFOR in Miami.. which looks AWFUL...........

@newscenter5 WFOR looks fine. It'd be great if KDKA gets these, although I do dread when KPIX will ditch their good package for this.

@Mrtraveler01 The Hometown Advantage had gotten an "1up" today at noon when KDKA got the O&O GFX. Gone are the "HomeAdv" music and the "WBBM Box".
KD Took the page of the fX network's rebrand two year years ago by losing the "Seachlight Box".
"There Is No Box".
