Thanks for a great product demo. I've bought the EmulatorX version of Planet Earth. As one musician to another I can see you have the talent. Your implementation is modern and the end result (which is the only thing that ever matters) is solid. Keep it up.
Great job. I just find it disturbing to see you hit things that look like cymbals but sound like membranophones. It just rubs a psychological nerve wrong for me.
@InsertName125 ---thanks for an interesting comment. The thing about electronic percussion is that they open up doors that were not open for me before. They expand my horizons and allow me to experiment in new and exciting ways. I think of the pads as triggers---not necessarily as drums or cymbals. I can access percussion instruments from all over the world that I would never be able to possess in real-life and play them in my own ways. I find this quite compelling actually!
@Synthdrumnoise I agree. It's just a psychological hangup I have. It's like it causes some kind of cognitive dissonance for me or something. I'm also bothered by seeing people trigger keyboard samples with a guitar, when they could expend less effort by simply playing those same notes on a keyboard. This isn't quite the same as that, because you're a percussionist, being a percussionist.
Do you ever play with a hybrit kit that incorporates acoustic percussion at the same time?
@InsertName125 ---I did use a hybrid years ago, but the logistics of getting a balanced sound sound is expensive and time-consuming---besides, I live in an apartment and could never use acoustic drums. In a world where I won Lotto, I would definately use a hybrid kit---particularly real cymbals. I think it's cool when a guitarist triggers keyboard (or other) sounds. It's interestring to hear how a keyboard might sound with guitarist sensibilities--or a sax sound with keyboard techinique, etc.
nice,... i have planet erth inside my CommandStation. btw do u have the original patterns and demo songs? if yes can you send me in midi format... that would be awesome... thank you
@hotelsinus ---thanks---all I did here was trigger some of the more interesting sounds with my V-Drums. There were no songs or preset patterns----just jamming. You should have all these sounds in your Planet Earth rom.
@hotelsinus ---I'm not quite sure what you're asking. If you have the Planet Earth ROM, you have all the patterns---just hit the "audition" button on your Command Station, or turn the arpeggiator on to play Planet Earth patterns.
I have a td-10 and an earth module, but i'm having no luck triggering the module. Could you pass on the specific settings you're using and the routing. I enjoyed your licks and you have inspired me to get my gear wired up. Regards
@loneranger150 ----Thanks for the kind words. Plug a midi cable to "midi out" of the TD-10 and "midi in" of the P.E. Press the master settings button on the P.E. and 14 clicks to the right is "midi mode." Make sure it is set to omni. No settings are required on the TD-10. Make sure you have cables connected to the outputs of both pieces. Turn the volume up on both pieces and you will hearing layered sounds from both modules. Lower the volume on the TD-10 to trigger just the P.E. Hope this helps!

My goal is always to stay fresh and new in my approach to music. Thanks a lot for the vote of confidence!

Very interesting. I own the Planet Earth and the HD-1 kit, but it never crossed my mind to put them together! Very inspiring.
