  • does ur esbit stove smell?

  • @PackRat556 SERE...(Survival Evasion Resistance Escape) sorry had to make correction...

  • Buy some vietnam era snare wire! Its very small lightweight and has a lot of wire on it.. its only a couple bucks on ebay for a small spool

  • You have room to tape a utility razor to the lid of your tin.

  • @resadrianlk - If interested still I have one of those books up for sale now. Reply back to message if you'd like to buy it. $15 shipped anywhere in the USA or Canada. This book is very rare.

  • hey I dont know if you know this or not but 5 hr enegery takes a lot of water from your body and will dehydrate you really really fast!!

  • @shores08 yes. And the fact they are completly AWFUL for you. I have super ventricular Tachycardia. First time I tired this I went right into a tachycardia episode.

  • I would recommend replacing the thread with a nice, big spool of dental floss. Great thread and you can use for cleaning your teeth as well. I would also recommend an Inuit Thimble. They can be made from cardboard but I think a purpose built one from thick leather would be better and allow you to push your needles through the tough material of your equipment easier.

  • U forgot ur mini gun

  • I call this american idiocy surrvival pack. Do you carry a lap top?

  • I recommend maybe an emergency blanket for backup and instead of that big microfiber cloth maybe some light load towels found on amazon.

  • Great video-thanks for the ideas on the belt kit.

  • liking the kit so far. Some very good implementation on very lightweight range of items.

  • no way man, i always bring rice/pasta and tuna steaks like what you have when im hiking. those rice packs are meant to be as side dish for multiple people. you can divide those rice packs will do two separate meals fine.very smart idea, even if you wanted to devide it up into smaller ziplocks you can avoid the extra air pocket the package provides

  • Great little system you got goin on there packrat except i'd chuck those Y suspenders there (they shift & sway too much) for the H style...Just my opinion...

  • Wow did not notice the poncho on there lol

  • do you also wear this with a regular pack

  • cliff bars rock! i love the brownie! good kit by the way

  • i to have the wisp brushes and you dont not need to add water it even says it on the back so that is a plus

  • 3:46 I would camo that so that is dosent shine that much

  • It's not a matter of weather you like guns. It's just another piece of necessary equipment like your water filter or first aid kit. I don't look forward to having to sterilize a wound and patch it up but if I need it I'll carry it. besides in a disaster and you were carrying all that necessary gear all the unprepared people around you would want you to share it with them. As they say "Lack of Preparation on your part, does not constitute an emergency on my part.

  • Chocolate Brownie is the best cliff bar made. Excellent choice.

  • uggg... I don't really like guns, is it absolutely neccasary to get one? I just am not a very violent person against other humans. ( I don't want to hear " you're gonna have to defend yourself " ) I don't plan on acting or being hostile, if someone during an emergency situation wants me to backoff, well I'm gone then I'll just turn around and walk off. as for someone attacking me ( there is a knife... )

  • is it nessesary? its our god given right as americans to own one!

  • dose not mean its nessesary

  • damn straight i exercise that right with loving passion

  • what if the other person has a gun.

  • @Tnuggz420 Then I'm screwed, haha

  • if that rice is not cooked your going to need ALOT of wasted water and the 5 hour energy NO just NO im not going to give a speach

  • them strips gottar hurt whithin 5 min on your low bag -or what? No !?

  • get the Mainstay 3600 Calorie Food Pack for a better 72 hour food supply.

  • Be careful on what you eat. You need a lot of water to process power bar/ cliff bar type food. When moving quickly you also will burn twice the amount of calories. good video

  • fantastic pack. wouldnt trust the 5 hour energy.. that stuff can send you to the hospital.

  • Great stuff. I was wondering if you would think it a good idea to laminate your military survival manual, so you could read it in the rain? Also the map? If it is a bad idea in your opinion, please let me know why. Ty. 5/5. ~Kev~

  • The great thing about this type of setup is you can easily sling a rifle over the suspenders vs a large backpack.

When it gets cooler out do you add on a poncho liner to this kit, or go with a full on pack instead? (I have a Wiggy's poncho liner, it is very warm and pretty light, and very moisture resistant)

I'm trying to work out a LC-2 suspender and belt right now, but the suspenders itch!

  • I am not sure. I cannot remember where I got my copy. I have had it for quite some time. I believe you can download it from the internet and print it for free. Also, any army surplus store in your area should definitely carry it. Good luck!

  • @PackRat556 the marine corps has an updated, better version of that book, i carry them both, but definitely like the newer one better.

  • what about instead of all tuna, rice, granola, and cliff bars....why dont you subsitute that for milatary MRE's and cliff/granola bars as extras

  • You could. I used to use MRE's all the time but I have lost my taste for them somewhat and they are not as readily available. They have also become very expensive as well about $8.00 per meal when I can find them in my area. This is an alternative that is much cheaper and is readily available from my local grocery store. I would recommend for people to use what they feel the most comfortable with, as both are good options. Thank you for watching and sharing this!

  • @PackRat556 i dont know how people cant stand mre's i personally like them they are quick to make and good

  • MRE's are heavy, bulky, and expensive.

for a BOB Food is really your last priority, some quick energy is all you need.

  • Suggestion regarding the snare wire you spoke of: Go to a sporting goods store fishing dept. & buy a 50' roll of 50lb test braided wire & and matching ferrules. Now pre-fab various sized snares by simply cutting different lengths of wire & making loops on each end of the wire. Simply thread one end through the other & you have a slip loop. Secure the free end and you have a snare. I have 50 of them in my kit & they take no space. The more u use, the better your chance of eating din-din.

  • would u be wearing this 72 hour pack with ur survival pack? does it fit and everything, please message me the answer, thank u! btw these videos helped me alot i will be referring back to them often, thank u for all the knowledge!!

  • great vids ..... this kit could be put in a cheap duffel bag/stuff sack for an urban situation. i'm wanting to compress my edc and bob into a smaller system i can have with me all the time any suggestions?

  • This might sound crazy but I put a brown tarp in my buttpack, mosquito net couple tough paperclips (ones that hold a bunch of papers together) and paracord in my buttpack to make a pup tent. I am currently looking for the MOLLE style knife holder that I can put on the left suspender where you have your compass. It is great to have that knife real close and off the hip. Great vids as always!

  • Sounds like good gear to have. I use my issue poncho and paracord to create my shelter. Hey, just an idea, use some ranger bands to attach your knife to the suspender in it's regular sheath. You can buy them or make them. I have this done on my tactical setup. My knife is on my left shoulder inverted as you say, for easy access. (USMC Ka-Bar). I hope to post a short video on this soon.

  • Your tin box is more than enough to make this video 5 stars. Thanks again for sharing all your work and effort in preparing.

  • Thank you for your interest, and the great rating! I am glad that there are others like yourself out there who share my interests! Take Care!

  • Another tip that I was given says: wear two pairs of socks, pull the boots' laces really really tight, walk a few steps, straighten the laces again and then don't take off the boots for the next few days, depending on how long you're out. 'Cause if you take off the boots your feet will start swelling and then it's a real pain to get into the boots again. This apparently helped a friend of mine survive (footwise) numerous field drills and marches and helped me survive some festivals.

  • I have never tried this method before so I can't say, but you would definitely need to be careful not to over tighten the laces as to not restrict good circulation. Also, changing socks is important because the moisture that builds up from sweat can cause additional problems. I guess the best idea is to break your boots in prior to going out in them. That will ensure a proper fit and form. Thanks for sharing.

  • From what I have experience this method is okay for 2-3 days, if you're not getting overly wet. But that may vary from person to person.

    Anyway, great vid :-)

    All best

  • Thanks for the support!

  • Great videos PackRat. Hint on blister prevention. Try nylon stockings made of the same material as women's panty hose. It forms tight to your feet and prevents your socks from rubbing on your skin. I know it doesn't sound manly but it sure saves a lot of painful blisters for long marches. An old Drill Sergent ready for retirement gave me the tip. Wish I would have know it b/4 my 17K march.

  • This is a good idea. Just slip a pair of wool socks on over the thinner socks for cushion and wicking.

  • Thanks for sharing!

  • ah u included cliff bars this time.

  • Yes, but these are chocolate, they are not as good as the oatmeal raisin walnut! Have you tried the Snickers Marathon Bars? Their good to me.

  • Never tried the snickers, but I've tried these soy bars. They taste better than cliff bars, have more nutrition than cliff bars, and cost the same as cliff bars, and there soy based. If I remember the name I'll post it but right now i can't even seem to remember the name

  • Thanks, let me know if you think of it, I'll try them. Take Care.

  • Ever since I heard about Clif Bars from you, I tried em, and they're my favorite! No other bar to me can beat them right now! My favorite is Black Cherry Almond and Chcolate Chip, haven't had the chance to try all of the flavors, though I found out all of the different ones, 20, but 2 are discontinued and 4 are "seasonal" flavors I read on Wikipedia. I was curious about the different flavors.

  • I looked in to those i cant find any with good dates

  • Another Solid Video from Packrat

  • Thank You!

  • I'm giving this all 5 star ratings! I should go back and give all your videos 5 stars! I like that case idea, you could maybe signal with it cause it's reflective.

  • Your right, I thought to mention that too but didn't. I do have a signal mirror in that compact kit if I need it, but the box is a great back up. It could also double as a backup mess tin.

  • hey top class vids well done again your getting very good at this uncle sam needs you

  • Thanks, I appreciate that and your support. Take Care.

  • we might need something like this soon because of that flu going around

  • That's true, something to keep an eye on...

  • This series is great!!

    ED

  • Hey Thanks, I really appreciate it!
