Nice to see that so many people get their understanding of Science (AI) from Hollywood. For all of you idiots out there, this system is to develop robotic technologies that can help people suffering from paralysis and other disabilities to regain some of their motor skills. Please shut your fucking mouth if all you are going to do is talk about robot takeovers and the end of the world
As a roboticist myself I think this is the wrong direction. Yes, we want the ability for a human to control their own arm when their own nervous system is unable to do so; that I think we can all agree. However, the addition of an external robot seems to be the wrong approach and "should" cause a societal pushback (whether sensationalism or grounded). I don't want a robot to come up to me, grab my arm and 'make me' enter my password or sign something; at least let me keep my mental strength
Incredible application potentials for disabled and impaired limbs... but at the same time our cinema has engrained a horrific outcome when robots can control humans. But all in all amazing stuff and science is fracking awesome.
@WACOMalt: PROTIP: You are aware that somebody wrote their program? Who do you think controls those *robots*? MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAA! *lightning bolt* *zoom out to bird’s eye view of evil lair*
I will never try such a crazy thing. Anyway, it is very difficult to do such experiments in US because of the sever human safety rules. We should stop using our poor PhD students as experimental rates.
PS: look at the subject's fingers at the end of the demo, he will not be able to drink a cappuccino for a while......
Can the robot make a woman's hand jerk off a dude's wiener?

Wheres the point of that? It's like showing the robots how to take us over even before they have artificial intelligence.

we should use this for capital punishment. criminals could inject themselves for euthanization, and no one else would have to feel guilty.
