i am trying to learn how to do a kong vault and my problem is i will jump and as soon as my hands touch my feet land under me between my hands is that a fear problem or something(i don't feel afrade though...) any tips on what you think could get me through that?
and also where would i find a gym like you are at my yard sucks for learning stuff
It's hard to say without actually seeing, but it sounds like your problem is that you are jumping too close to the object itself, and you are going too much up and not enough forward.
Try taking off earlier, so that you are actually jumping before your hands touch. While jumping, too, you have to make sure that you are diving, and not just trying to hop over the object. When your hands touch, you'll want to push off again as if you are jumping off of your hands.
You really don't need one. In fact, it's better to train outside. Your tricks become more solid that way. You may not get the same tricks, but you will improve much faster as long as you keep fear out of your mind.
For my first backflip, I got a large soft bean bag, which is about a foot off the ground, and every day I would throw a backflip on it a couple times. Eventually worked up the courage to try it outside.
I would say the hardest part is just getting over the fear of going backwards. Most people that try for the first time jump sideways. You have to just commit and throw it as hard as you can.
but was it a question of improving your technique, or building up the muscle? the two kinda go hand in hand, but I was wondering if one seemed more important at the time
@Rockster160 I agree, as long as you get rid of the fear of trying it the rest comes easy, my very first backflip not on a trampoline was on a basketball gym floor and i landed on my knees so i tried it a few more times and since then i have been able to do some pretty amazing stuff. even a double frontflip on the ground but for some reason i cant talk myself into trying a double back or even a gainer lol
damn ur good lol

this stuff's awesome, but how'd you build up to it?
if I tried the backflip you did like... 10 months ago now, i'd probably just hurt myself
i need a lot more leg strength I think, i've focused most of my time so far on pullups and the like

i might have to try that, thanks

Back then, I'm pretty sure I was focusing on the technique, which I still do now.
It's really all about jumping up to get your height. The flip is the easy part if you can just jump straight up.

and I think I go to school with someone you know, Raquel? She helped me find these videos

jimmy33663 2 years ago
It's getting there. It will probably be good enough for me to roll from a big drop without much by the time of the jam.
