well maybe he played nice for a 19 year-old but... well you decide. Go to mimmocafiero 's page and listen to summertime mp3. It's from 1989, so Kurt is exactly 19. He doesn't sound like a promising new genious, which he later proved to be.

I disagree.I just listened to the tune you're talking about...Well,for me-besides too obvious Metheny influence-it was a great solo,very original and well built.Maybe there weren't too many "hip" lines,but who needs them?Especially when you're 19 :-)

@FusionistAS200 I ran across these recording of Kurt when he was a student, one of the tracks is a 9 minute inner urge. haha. Strangely enough, he sounds alot like he does now, just with less chops.
