This show hits hard! I still remember the end of last season when Sammy had to take in that little Mexican kid he had been with the whole season. This show deserves awards! And yes Sammy did retaliate in the episode after the episode after this one ha. It was so badass

Creator of the show said in some interview that this scene was based off a true story one of the LAPD consultants on the show told him about. Said he was planning on using it since before the show started but just needed to find an occasional that called for it. I guess this was that occasion.
If Sammy had fired at the bangers and just gone on a rampage he would have been lit up himself or they would have just jumped him, He did what he did to get backup. Look for some retaliation next episode as Sammy has nothing to lose now.
