I really think we're going to outgrow this expectation for free-only services... but only after those services that aren't worth paying for are completely phased out. I've even reached a point where I'm considering subscribing to (and paying for) some traditional media outlets. I even buy actual CDs sometimes. But I've never used NING, and I don't really know what it's about so I have no clue if it'll survive.

It's not surprising that they are going to a cost-basis. I don't do anything on NING sites, but I'm still amazed that YouTube is still free.
