@alee2027 He was doing a test and apparently he found his answer. Youtube does not support anything above 29.97 fps --- we all know 60 fps video looks incredibly realistic but if we ever see it on Youtube is another story.

I record with my Kodak zi8 at 720p/60 fps but on Youtube it plays at only a maximum of 480p. I am also using image stabilization. What should I do?

I don't think YouTube supports 60 fps...so i can't tell how good the quality really is. I would stick with 1080p at 30 fps for youtube...and I think the quality looks even better than this but again...youtube makes video quality worse than it really is...I wish i could see a good video quality test of it.

You can still tell the difference in the smoothness of the video. Yes, youtube only does 30FPS currently, but that doesn't mean you can't see a better clarity in the video shot in 60fps. It's minor, but there.

You need to update your firmware for the Zi8. The ZOOM isn't choppy with the firmware. Its smooth now.

I have Sony Vegas and it might help you. Its about $100. having a high powered computer (and external harddrive) helps. Your computer won't be lagging to find all of the components of these large files on your computer. My guess is that it will work faster.

Also, have you figured out how to convert the native .MOV format it shoots to MP4 without losing quality and fps in the process?

@donovanx3 - this is an old video... not only does it look like image stabilization is off, but at the time this video was taken, he couldn't have upgraded the firmware to fix some problems - like the obviously retarded zoom.

Not a feature I particularly care about but it is smooth now with the firmware upgrade. Just a tip: If you are trying to upgrade the firmware on the Kodak site, and you are using XP, just get the Vista one. It works. The Kodak website tells you there are no upgrades for XP

Firmware patch is out to fix that. HOWEVER, if you get the zi8 it would be foolish to use the built in mic when you can plug in a lavalier mic with a foam windscreen and get amazing audio quality.

Not sure if you know this or not, but YouTube only plays video in 30 FPS not 60 FPS. So to upload anything in 60 FPS won't show us anything except what it looks like in 30 FPS. :-)

I don't like the zoom. Then again, I won't be using it so it won't be a minus for yes. The image stabilization isn't good, but most of my recording will be with the camera on a tripod. Once again, no biggie. Really, all of these pocket cams suck when it comes to image stabilization. Yes, some are better than others but none of them are great.

You don't feel the mini-jerks as the camcorder pans. It looks good when it stops and is held still , but any movement is sicking for me. Maybe put it on tripod. This camcorder has a lot going for it, especially external mic input .

Could you take the same shot with image stabilization turned on and then with it turned off, because maybe there is improvement, can't tell.

The colors are better, it's not as shaky (even though the kodak has image stabilization), it SOUNDS better, plus, they're going to just release a new flip mino that records in 1080p that kicks the crap out of this one. i own a kodak, it's OKAY, but they should seriously just stick to still images cause their video-enabled products suck.

I did noted some very slight image tremble and that buglar alarm like ringing sound in the background. The ringing distracts from the chirping and the sounds of voices sound like they're in a hall way when this is an out door shot.

Image stabilization was engaged. It's only "electronic" image stabilization, however. Not optical, like most digital cameras.
