  • Also used in the movie Paakeeza (Meena Kumari) as background music more than once... especially in the sequence with the horse-carriage of the rich man who sees Meena K and says something vulgar, Lucknawii style of course.

  • wah wah, perfect, it is a very old afghan song ANAR ANAR BYA DA BALINAM.

  • wow zakir nice music

  • one of master pieces

  • First time I saw Zakir Bhai at a private mehfil.

  • @KumarTabla it is of least importantance when we speak about our great masters like ustad rais khan and ustad zakir khan where they perform dosent matter what and how they perform matters the most.

  • @MrAtulshah I agree with you fully. My comment was not intended to be derogatory or degrading to the artistes in any way.

  • yusafzai08 where are you from? I am Haris Yusufzai from Kabul Afghanistan.

As for this beautiful composition, music does not have borders, religion, or ideology. Enjoy this beautiful music and live life. Religion is in your heart with your God. Respect is what God teaches.

  • wats religion got to do with beautiful, amazing, wonderful, magical music? this is it people, beauty in art.

  • This is a beautiful composition. Rais Khan ji carried it very very well, and Zakir Bhai ji played more than excellent accompaniment. He makes accompanying an art in its own right.

  • @harjass77 both compliment each other ustad rais khan sahab is the decendant of the great taansen pls dont forget this and i have personly seen ustad zakir khan and amitabh bacchan touching ustad rais khan"s feet this is what you call respect for a senior and respect for a great artist.

  • Hindu, Muslim, Budist, Jew, Cristian, whatever the F! I think we all agree that this is some great music!!!!

  • Before Islam in Afghanistan, all Afghans were hindu or buddhist, many Afghans dont know their own history....do they think they were always muslim since the time of Adam...lol

  • Bro, you forgot, we were Zardushti before islam, and yes there were also some hindu and budhists as well...Afghanistan was named afghanistan around the time of AbdurRahman Khan...before it was called different names, mostly Abdali dynasty and before that, Khurasan, Iran, Fars Ariana....thanx to our stupidity and Iran's smartness They have all the glories of our shared history and we are left with the shame of Extremism.

  • this is magic.

  • excellent

  • Fawad even u r wrong, there is not even single hindu living in afg,, ppl u r referring to are SIKH not hindu and afghanistan was budhist not hindu

  • There are Hindu Afghans in Afghanistan i have seen many of them, In fact one of them is a really good friend of mine. he looks Afghan but he is Hindu.

  • amazing piece of ART.....

  • Zakir Hussain is playing original Punjab Gharana style. That sitar is a bit kawali, but it is classical alright. Afghan and Indian music is similiar as Afghanistan was HIndu before the Muslim onslaught. Very Nice all the same.

  • thanks but there are some errors on ur info afghans have never been hinu, although we do have hindu brothers....

  • Theres not much difference. (One upon a time India went from Iran to Vietnam). Although religions, cultures and rulers have changed the true universal culture is present everywhere - in the language, customs, ideas. And two thousand years of fight cannot destroy the eternal.

  • @yjvnz i think u have never heard of a bird called fusion and experimenting in music have you ever heard matka being played with sitar? or mohan veena being played along with sitar?ustad rais khan has done this and comparing a artist like rais khan with qawwali is atrocious what the hell do you know about classical music to post comments like this just peep into your collar.

  • @MrAtulshah I can assure you that this medium of commenting is not to pick fights. Although I admire your need to defend these artistes, let us stop worrying about other's comments and just enjoy the beautiful music.

  • @MrAtulshah calm down, I meant the composition was, and don't get me wrong, it's beautiful, in fact I think it was used in an old classic bollywood film. Ustad Rais Khan is one of the greatest masters of sitar, up there with Vilayat Khan and Ravi Shankar, so please don't think I was trying to insult him, I was just trying to relate Indian Classical and Afghan music, which has been linked for thousands of years.

  • @MrAtulshah I am a big fan of fusion music - especially Shakti. I have heard all of it. As for your comment, my teacher studied under Ustad Kulwidner Singh of Punjab Gharana, guru-bhai of Ustad Zakir you see playing here. Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan also sings qawwali, what is wrong with it? It is all devotional music. This has the arabic-afghan influence, making it a very beautiful composition. So please don't start personally attacking here.

  • shahid parvez also plays this

  • Love it...

  • wah wah:D

  • ha thats great but it is an afghan tune not indian

  • Thanks to the afghans that are wiping out true afghan culture and music with indian. Thank you!! YOu are so corageous!

  • Thank you!!!

    Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • its true! lolz

  • i guess if it was from afghanistan then the copy right issues...

  • This is the melody from the indian movie Pakiza???

  • This is an afghan song

  • Wow! luv it!!!!

  • perfect

  • nice music

  • Everything was originally from Afghanistan. Flute, dutar, rabab, tabla, etc. This composition is definatilly from Afghanistan.

  • Although it is Afghani, it is beautiful on sitar!

  • I agree :]

  • pure passion

  • For everyone's information.. We Afghans copied a lot of Hindi songs. But one of the songs that was copied from Afghans, is from film WAQT ( Aye mere zohra jabin by Mannadey ) First the original was made and sung by Afghan singer Masour Jamal ( مدتی شد که ترا مه ندیدم سر راه ) We should be thankful to Hindi musicians as we copied a lot without giving them a damn.

  • i dont view it as copying, but rather as spreading the love. If we continue to fight about these stupid matters then we wont be able to produce this type of beautiful masterpieces. love and peace that is what all these musicians are spreading through their work.

  • Masour Jamal sang it yes, but the composition is from Ustad Breshna, so he should be credited.

  • fantastic yar fantastic. much better than original song

  • Wah khan sahab..

  • Thank you for posting this. Kapisa, thanks for your info too. Is this Ustad Shaida's composition? I know that this is always has been considered as folk song, but I think it is Ustad Shaida's composition.

  • ragga meshra kamaj

  • afghani folk song: anar anar bya ba balinam///shabnam gule nar bya balinam

    in aaga meshra kamaj

    beautifull

  • This song is universal - presentet in an universal language- no one is the owner not a person and no country - The truth is that "Anar Anar" never was played in this beautyfull way - like Rais Khan und Zakir had done ! Ask them... They will answer from whre tis song comes! :-)

    Mikelji

  • This is indeed an old folkloric Afghani composition, and has been played among people for generations.

I agree with the fact that the Afghani artists have used Indian compositions but never denied their origin, but that's not the case among the Indian artists, which this composition being one of those cases, better not to deny and come out clean and say that this is an Afghani composition, be truthful!!

  • I totaly agree!!

  • This is an afghani composition that was used in a little part in the movie pakiza and ustad Raies khan has played it in the movie as well so to settle this once and for all this is an afghani composition, we have copied alot of indian compositions from indians but lets not acclaim art , let it be from where ever when it touches the soul it's everyones

  • @sierjan thats the spiritttt.

  • THIS IS NOT AN AFGHANI SONG. This is an indian music. The afghans have stolen this from an indian movie. A famous afghani song wahahahahahah...FUNNY!

  • GOD bless both of you all time masters.

  • mi sono innamorato di questo video. non ho altre parole. sono fuori di testa completamente.
