Man....I must have been 13 years old last time i've seen this. Brings back memories of skateboarding into the hot sacramento evening,,,And not a care in the world except watching Sacramento wrestling and reading skate board magazine with the Z boys in it.
Funny stuff! As a kid EVERYTIME you saw jerry monti on the card you knew it was a loss, but you just kept hoping that was the week he would beat the heel! Didn't know about jobbers back then. THE GOOD OL DAYS..
OMG...It just hit me, these guys were the original Charlie Sheens, and never got any credit! "We're coming up to the Boston Garden, and you losers in Boston are gonna have the thrills of your pathetic lives to be in the same building as us!" "You're on the outside looking in, daddy!"
it is too bad that wrestling didnt have a mainstream craze in about 78 instead of 84. there was talk of and they should have done it too have superstar billy graham turn face in late 77 early 78 and have graham mania. the fans and he wanted it. Vince you dumbass. could you imagine if seven years earlier the big networks would have been flooded with the likes of the superstar and the valiants. they would have ruled the limited market..
I use to watch Jimmy Valiant when he wrestled in Chicago in the early to mid-80's! He was so hilarious and ultra cool! Then he did this stupid Boogie Woogie Man gimmick that just ruined his career! He should have stayed with Bobby Heenan as his manager! Those two were quite a pair!
I hated the Boogie Woogie Man in the 80s, but Jimmy was pretty damn funny here. His dance/fight poses to the fans were hilarious and his "Mr. Holiday Inn" line was classic.
seeing "handsome jimmy" turn into "boogie woogie monkey man " felt the same as seeing "superstar graham" reduced to kung-fu graham. both of them will always piss me off because I watched them do it to themselves, 2 of the best , fucking legends! there was nothing to change....thank you for this vid!
I remember watching these guys in the mid seventy's when they used to take on Dick the bruiser and the Crusher, wrestling was better then, unlike the circus we see today.
They were the greatest. Where are all those interviews they did with McMahon during the 70's?! I'd pay for a DVD full of that stuff. Somewhere I have a cassette tape of their interviews I made by putting the mic up to the TV speaker!!!
I did the same thing. I have hours of audio interviews that I've transferred to different formats over the years. Now I have them on my iPod. Sometimes when I'm playing cards and listening I'll start laughing and people assume I'm listening to some comedian. Sometimes I explain and sometimes I don't.
You know, I think I remember seeing a Valiant Brothers film on the Johnny Carson Show. Also, it's well known that the shareholders of Holiday Inn were seriously considering changing the name of the hotel chain to the Valiant Brothers Inn.
I remember that Saturday afternoon when the Valiant brothers destroyed the Royal Kangaroos within 5 minutes for the U.S. Tag Team Championship. Nice to see Hank Renner again.
I love it when Renner asks were is the tape on that and Johnny says that tape has been destroyed and Renner says oh yeah yeah!!!
