  • That's all a great lesson. How would you use these while accompanying an artist and band?

  • @louisianarookie I wouldn't necessarily, it's more a way to get better acquainted with the fretboard and with harmony in general. It is pretty useful stuff when developing bass lines or licks, tho. It just all helps you to see what notes are available to you over any chord

  • Inspiring!! Thank you. BTW, I just listened to your version of Spain. Great job.

  • Cool Video. It would be superb if you explain the basslines with the changing chords. Ive not see any explanation in book. Cool if u give simple changes with inverts and examples.

    U rule

  • Thank you so much for posting this little series!! This is exactly what my instructor and I have been working on. Extremely helpful to hear multiple perspectives on the same subject.

    Keep 'em comin!!

  • Thanks! Very helpful! What book do you recommend that covers this?

  • @theosbass There are so many! Rufus Reid has written a bunch that are great. The evolving bassist, if I remember correctly, is a great one

  • I've never understood sus2 before an I've been playing for 15 years! Thanks for this I've learnt a lot.

  • glad to know a kick ass bassist also relies on shapes XD hahaha

  • Yes, Shapes work for me too! Yup, i try to think of the chord shape while soloing thru changes, so i don't always go to the root.

    Awesome stuff ! Thanks

  • awesome! The real deal.
