Not an expert, but frankly I prefer a slightly less hierarchical thing. What if the people making the decisions about how things are cataloged are not competent/fluent? Or they have an agenda? Dr.Berners-Lee argues primarily that that this would make queries more efficient, but sometimes random connections and happenstance are important, (and WHEN they are important they are often VERY important). How many great inventions have been serendipity? I also worry that web-savvy would atrophy in users
I found this interesting and informative. Worth listening and continuing reading about this developments. As regards the personal comments, quite irrelevant. He explains this very general concepts in an accesible, quite inspiring way.
@pneumatictrousers If what stops you from thinking he is a kook is RePutAtion only, you are missing out on the ideas of the most intelligent and gifted.
He's talking about the potential semantics has to organize and manipulate data. He's just excited, as are most intelligent people when they discuss their ideas. Kook... It's people like you who slow progress and torture free thinkers.
@pneumatictrousers It's not sufficient to describe this man as merely "intelligent." Also, this is one of the more down-to-earth and concise explanations of the web of data. If he'd brought up A.I. (as many do when discussing this technology), he would indeed be a kook babbling on.

@pneumatictrousers maybe you should reevaluate how you assess who is intelligent? I think you missed at least one.
