  • I like arabian shows cuz we actually know how to RIDE instead of some people who ride their back in the day horses around like idiots and put them up to eat while they are still sweaty and call that riding

  • I'm not gonna comment on the horsemanship or the substance of the horse, but I just have to say that that foal is gorgeous.

  • Look at this video:

    you tube.com /watch?v=qLmi3dukjM8&feature=player_embedded

Notice that at no point does my mare show any signs of anger. When I'm "shanking and hurting her," she has her ears flopped out to the side and is licking her lips. She has FUN. Look at AO Breeze, undefeated in jumpers at OPEN shows, but halter champion stallion. Yes, there are some cruelly treated & poorly bred halter horses, but we have those in EVERY discipline.

  • Wow some of you people are crazy on BOTH sides! I would never show my horse in a class where"shanking is necessary".My horses are my partners and they deserve better than to have their sensitive faces jerked on. Or bags waved in their faces (Sdlbrd). Or lighters flicked under their nose (QH). I have chosen instead to TRAIN my horse to look alive, present on a loose rein and set up when I stop.He is a Morgan and needs to look just as "up" as the Arabs do.He loves noise and looks to the crowd, btw.

  • Oh - and I am not sure what horses you guys are around, but my horses put their ears to the side when they are BORED - like my horse when we are practicing in the ring when no people are around...he is BORED out of his wits! :-D

  • Oh my God thank you. I'm so glad I'm not the only one left in the world that seems to feel my horse deserves more than that. We only show at the local levels and still see these things happening. And the noise is annoying and unnessecary. It's obviously not making a difference in the horse, his ears aren't even pricked toward it...

  • if you showed big time you would do anything to get your horse to look alive and you have to have chains..some horse person you are

  • That's exactly what we are and what others are not. A horse person puts the comfort and needs of their horse above their own desire for cheap ribbons and titles. There is no excuse to cause discomfort to your horse and if I have to shank the bejesus out of my horse to get him to "look alive", then perhaps I should pick another horse that actually enoys the show scene.

  • hey rachel995, dont quote the frkn bible its a bunch of crap! and ya know what? that end of days thing you people talk about, its gonna come from you guys not "god" because u expect it to happen so you will help it out. so shut up!

  • UUUUuxuUUUUUUuxxxuuuuUUUUU

    why skream all time?????

  • horsecrazy987, I own three spirited Arabians. They may be different from other horses, but they are still equine. Yelling is meant to make the horse excited, so he/she shows off to the judges more. Stop insulting people just because your opinions clash with theirs. Everyone needs to clam down... Arabs like the challenge of a crowd and noise because of their high intelligence. And whoever has a PHD, whatever. Horses are individuals, just like people. They have their own personalities

  • On the second horse, he's to straight in the stifle and his croup lacks depth and length.

  • I can promise you, both people and horses have more fun on a arabian horse show than a regular horse show..

  • yeah im one of the screaming people too! they love it!

  • my horse shows off more the louder ppl get. And we were one of the people "screaming" out there

  • by the way benbenjesusfreak. your the idiot.

  • also when they buck and stuff its because they want to play. they get all pumped up when people yell. you guys need to whatch what your saying. the horses love this stuff. i have a halter horse and he loves it when we scream for him and stuff. it makes him all happy and wants to jump around and play. arabians are different. and there great horses. so whatch what your saying.

  • its a different type of horse show. your supposed to yell you freaks. the horses like that.

  • very expensive horses

  • haa some people behave worst then monkeys, I mean why yel so much, your in a horse show, not in the jungle.

  • you piece of crap the horses LOVE it when you yell! arabians are different than other horses!

  • poor horse..

  • you need to whatch what your saying!! the horses love it!

  • uve gotta be a horse to assume that. Even if they like it, i dont, and dont go to horse shows to yel and behave like a monkey, unlikelly you and other stupid people

  • you peice of crap ive showed bedore and all of the horses love it! and you idiot! and you can tell! the horses in this video are yearlings! of coarse there a little scared! but not by the people! by being in the arena there first time! i hate people like you who have no clue what there saying! arabians arent like other horses! WHY CANT YOU UNDERSTAND THAT! OMG!!! you fricken peice of crap!!

  • Ohh im sorry to discuss with a PHD on animal behavior, jugding by your vocabulary. Animals are always stressed by loud and crowded places, just like people. However if they like it or not, its low and stupid to behave like that anywhere.

  • what is wrong with you!!!!! idiots like you shouldn`t even talk if they dont know anything!!! arabianas arent like other horses!!!!!!!!

  • oh! sorry! i didnt know i was talking to a fricken french designer!!!!

  • My horse loves the crowd. He doesn't mind all the loud noises, and if people are so stressed in crowds who the hell decided to have concerts? Or a mall? If it's so stressful to be crowded then you get your horse used to the crowd. Usually the horses love the crowd, the noises are to get the horses to put their ears forward, because most of the horses are so relaxed they put their ears to the side Miss PHD.

  • yes smart ass, but u forgot one detail, when horses put their ears to the side it means they are stressed. If your used to horse shows with savages its up to you, i prefer polite and well educated people.

  • If it's so barbaric and they're such savages, then why do they allow it? I think that's a crock-o-shit, if a horse lolls it's ears to the side, there's no way they're stressed. I don't think you have a PHD in anything but your imagination. You prefer polite and well educated people? Look who's talking! You haven't been polite, and you're certainly not well educated in the horse world.

  • First of all i wasant even talking to you, and even if i was u should learn how to read first. Never sayd i was a PHD, it was actually a joke. Well theres many stupid things in the world that are bad but still allowed rodeo being one amongst many of then. I have no need to be polite with people who atack me first and for free, dont throw your pearls to pigs Jesus said. Educated in the horse world in your mind what that would be? Being a redneck junkie like u?

  • Wow your really no fun at all are you rachel995? Its kind of sad horse shows are always so boring and dead because of people like you. How about a little fun and energy! Thats what most horseshows need not a bunch of snobby, stuck up people. If it bothers the horses than fine be quiet but Arabs love to show off and certainly dont mind a loud crowd.

  • First of all you do not know me, second I got nothing against chearing, as long as its not extreme loud and annoying. If this bothered me in 1 min of video..imagine how much it bothers the horses. Arabians are still horses, and yes they get stressed by a loud crowd, just like any other animal. Go join your friends on monkey land its how my mom says..skunks like to smell each other

  • Okay first it seems like your right....my horse hates loud noises like that...and i use to go to an arab barn don't worry arabs don't like it it gets them stressed...thats why they have that hot hot behavior! when there ears are on the sides that means they are bored tired ect. when there ears are up front that means that they are listening to something scary or see something scary!

  • you idiot!!! your messing them up yelling and screaming!!!!!!!!!

  • they look way to thin to live!

  • Cass Ole is Polish? The only "Polish" is to Skowronek. 5th generation, 2 crosses, 6th generation, 3 and the 7th generation 2. Cass Ole is far from being Polish, he is a CMK Arabian - the one you can ride. The CMK type won't win top places at Scottsdale which demand airy delicate. Lady Ann Blunt's words about the remnants of Ali Pasha Sherif's horses still apply today... It was type etherealized to extinction.

  • i wish those idiots @ 4.00 would shut up and let the little fella settle down so he could walk on!

  • ahem..these babies are the future of the arabian horse ppl! they are only little, and adorable! you have to start them early...how else are trainers supposed to make broke horses? my arab is indeed polish, he is by the great Golbaske, a descendant of Bask himself...so you dis on polish arabs, you dis on one of the best well known bloodlines in history. they are all great, both polish and desert bred. champion bloodlines or not. they are wonderful

  • Some of you people really need to get yourself EDUCATED before you post rude comments. These are babies. They're gonna be little. And LOL these horses are given excellent care they aren't skinny. Shanking is necessary when showing an Arab to get control and to get them to set up.

And for those of you saying your horses are nicer...BS. These horses are top quality, or they wouldn't be showing at Scottsdale.

  • Uh these are AMATEUR handlers, its practice for everyone...

  • okay dimwits.

Pedigrees, can and sometimes do make the horse.

These are yearlings give them a break

Cass Ole is polish, meaning hes more stocky and larger then your typical eygption/desert bred arab.

  • THANK YOU!!!

  • Dimwits? Uhh Yeah. I know they are yearlings and yes I know Cass Ole was a Polish Arab. I am not a fan of the Polish Arab. My choice...my opinion. I prefer the smaller desert bred Arabs.

  • Some Arab breeders have bred the brains out of their stock, but most Arab horses are still the best, strongest, pound for pound most courageous, honest, and "go for it" horses there are. These youngsters are not over-muscled, nor should they be. They are best at endurance racing, generally.

  • This video is a perfect example of the stupid things people do to animals in the name of fashion. None of the horses look relaxed or well trained to me. All I see is a bunch of scared babies being jerked around for no good reason. Not to mention their legs and feet have no substance to them at all. This video screams poor horsemanship all the way from the breeding shed to the show pen.

  • there just babies give them a break! what till they come back when there 2 or 3 years old and watch them kick butt!

  • these look like weanlings or maybe yearlings. if they weren't this size and shape they would be pumped full of growth hormones. if they were too 'skinny' they would be unplaced by the judges. this is the true desert type arabian as conforms to international standards. as for the screamers it would appear they are the supporters of particular entrants. i know i have been asked to make noise at shows to give the horses a more spirited look. the yanking sucks tho

  • Those are yearlings. The people screaming are trying to get more of a response out of the colts. The handler showing the bay needs his arse beat. The only good he's doing is making the colt head shy. I'd love to put a lead on him and yank a few times.

  • How old is him?

  • They are yearling colts

  • why didn't someone clout the screamers how annoying and rude!

  • I have to agree, all tht jerking is gonna do nothing O.o

    I show in Scotland =]

I also have to agree that many of the animals on display were rather skinny O.o

  • These handlers are hopeless, yanking the lead rein all the time, stifling the horses natural beauty. Although in England none of these skinny, weak looking specimens would even be placed.

  • These handlers are hopeless, stifling the horses natural beauty although in England none of these skinny specimens would be even by placed.

  • They are not skinny or weak looking. They are babies.

  • 2day there r 2 ways 2 breed arabs,1 is 2 breed small 4 halter & the other is 2 breed classic 4 indurance activities.Go look up on the interent EARLY IMPORTED ARABIANS and u will c they look more like small draft horses who look like they can carry u for miles, rather than these tiny fragile horses who look like they could break a leg if u saddled them. A perfect example of a stronge arab is the horse from The Black Stallion..that my friends is a TRUE arabian stallion.

  • These tiny fragile horses are babies....yearlings. True desert bred Arabs are 14 hands. The black Stallion was huge. He is not a TRUE Arabian.

  • How can you say that Cass Ole was not a true arabian? He may not have been desert bred but had a very impressive pedigree.

  • Pedigrees do not make the horse.

  • true but it helps if they do have a good pedigree. there are many differnt types of arabian horse and when I say this I don't mean half breeds. I have an pure egyption mare and a pure polish mare. the average egyption or "desert" horse stands about 13 to 14 hands. Mine stands about 13.3 and my polish arabian is 14.3 but she's still growing.

  • that's because he's a POLISH ARABIAN!

  • Um, plottluvr97 - you do realize Cass Ole is dead now, right?

  • DUH!!! Geez...I'm not some 13 yr old horse crazy punk kid who thinks horses are purdy. I have owned several Arabs and two were descendants of Cass Ole. I do know a thing or two about horses.

OH and its PLOTTLUVR07 not 97

  • Hey...you were the one speaking of him in the present tense.

    Bugger off then.

  • Oh I'm so sorry I had a lapse in proper grammar. LOL

  • I take back my statement; who came up with these toothpick-legged greyhounds? Yes, they are young, but they have horribly weak conformation already

  • that's what it looks like. the desert horse was born that way. For as they grow they must be swift and.. hey, have you ever seen a race horse?

  • Gorgeous babies, aren't they? The Arab has become somewhat inbred over the years, but is still the athletic stunner we all [should] love.

  • i love arabian halter, i am also into quarter horse halter

  • Very nice horses. My mom and I are planning to go the Arabian World show sometime. The babies are all very nice but need to work on ground manners :)

  • The reason I don't like Arab showing is this insistence on un-natural poses. Those babies would look so much better being allowed to relax their necks and show off the real beauty of that shape. However you feel about the jerking them about, surely it can't be good for a young body to be constantly trained to stand in that pose? They will all have had their tactile hair shaved off as well...

  • think about it for a minoute... what about stock horse showing in western? now that's cruel,

  • I show western and its not cruel.

  • I show in western also and it's just the way the "stock " horses are reqird to show. Haveing thier heads down to the ground and having thier slow jog. I used to ride a horse and they had to put him down 'couse his hocks where al messed up 'couse he'd been jogging. If you have a good mix of joggin and trotting it's not so bad but alot of people just jog then to much.

  • O! The jerk usually means STOP with yearlings. And there's a difference between a bump and a jerk.

And all of the horses in every class had their name, breeding, owner, and handler announced throughout the show. There was no favoritism in the announcing.

  • I hate seeing these babies heads jerked on, but the AO's are gentler than the pro trainers. As long as this is acceptable in the Arabian breed, it will happen.

  • I'm going to be doing halter showing next summer

  • the "yanking" is just to get the horse to pay attention 2 the handler, it doesnt hurt them

  • Eh. The Scottsdale arab show... My ex trainer used to show there, and they were a big part of it. It's funny...after I moved and switched to a GOOD trainer, I started to dislike arabs. No offense to anyone. :P

  • The jerking on the lead rope ruins the entire class. Can these people not show these horses with kindness and let them be "natural"...they are so beautiful without all of the jerking and stupid back ground noise from the crowd....why ruin a good thing?

  • I personally don't like how they are continually yanking on the horses halters... I find it quite rude.

  • Did you know that 90,000 American horses were inhumanely slaughtered in the U.S. last year? Did you know that they were slaughtered for human consumption overseas? Please help us get the American Horse Slaughter Prevention Act (HR 503 and S 311) passed -- call your legislators. Get involved.

  • haha my horses are WAAAAAAAAAAAY nicer...

  • Why did they announce the owner/breeder/trainer/breeding of one horse, and not the others.

It makes me see what they mean by some people get preferential treatment, and will judge by breeder/handler, and not horse.

    Dirty, very very dirty..

SOMEONE doesn't get a fair shake.

  • I swear people should shut up! at these shows. Personally it only made my horse and I more nervous. I live in a quite area and all the screaming often frightens young horses.

  • Remember guys, every single one of these people is an amateur. They are probably just as nervous as the horse. I know the guy who stood up the last horse personally. He is not at a point in his life where he can dedicate it to showing the horse, as dome people do, and, like many others, he can crack under pressure too.

Can't we all? I certainly did in the class immidiately following this one.

  • My two year old Arab filly is out of Opus One and she has a lot of substance and she still got highpoint at her very first local show last fall. I don't understand why the big wigs want there horses to be tiny little nothing horses that you can't do anything w/. Seems to me if they are showing them in hand as a represintation of the breed's characteristics they would breed them to look like a horse that could gallop through the dessert w/ their mounts, you know?

  • Ahh, Arabs are pretty but really, too fine-boned. I prefer drafts.

  • MyHorsehead, I realize you said this 2 mmonths ago, but I just saw it. If you prefer drafts, why are you watching an Arab video in the 1st place?

  • The shaking & slight jerk on the lead is to get their heads up to show off their conformations.

  • By all means if a horse is not concentrating or responding then yes repremand is needed , but to constantly jerk on a lead rein , will result result in constant head tossing which is the horse anticipating the yank, because the horse is confused.

its incredibly unfair to the horse, its irritating to watch,i dont know how the judges put up with it,this goes beyond showing static conformation, its insane.

  • The 1st youngsters looks confused and frustrated and is anticipating the 'yank' and as a result we see constant head tossing .marks should be deducted for poor handling /training.handlers need to be clear in what they are asking, and then give these youngsters time to think! the are animals not robots

  • pretty foal's. Can't help feeling that they breed them flimsyier and flymsier for showing though >.< give me a stocky arab anyday :3 Gowd how the shows are differnt from where you come from though XD! I'm in england and the ring side is almost silent, it's all very snobby and stuck up :D

  • I agree with that you should take a look at my horse hes all old school

  • I was amazed to find a friendly atmosphere But this is yearling AAOTH I think although I could not stay for the

Big Time Classes things get a bit more formal but here in the US you have Top trainers happy to sit down next to you and chat.

  • i ttlly agree w/ u. I breed my horses for the performance ring and if i think theyre good enough ill throw them in a halter class or two

  • agreed... Arabians still need substance.
