That was the 100 year flood. The Red River has never been this high in recorded history. Some parts of Fargo-Moorhead that aren't on the 500 year floodplain are being flooded this year.
Also, these homes that are in a "probable flood zone" are, 98% of the time, the most beautiful homes and properties in the area.
Jennalee, where's part 5? Hope you're doing OK. I keep looking for your town on the news...doesn't sound good. Thanks for putting a face to the story, I wish you well. Adrian Vancouver BC
I am a ND native and lived in Fargo till 1995... Thank you for this. My home was just north of the 2nd st footage (2nd & 7th ave)... My prayers and heart go out to you and all of the state in this crisis. Thank you for doing these videos.
Dear Jen, this message all the way from Colchester in England, we have the best family and friends living through this nightmare with you and we are stuck here, helpless and useless, we thank you for your blog, we are mentally sandbagging and we wish each and every one of you Minnesotans living through this nightmare the strength to live through it, with a smile and a beer - our thoughts and hearts with you all. Frank and Keely Barton (and Maddi the dog)
Your videos are amazing and really show us a personal perspective. I was hoping to get up there today to help out, but there wasn't a bus leaving when I got off of work ( I work overnights). You are in my thoughts and prayers and I hope all goes better than expected! Stay strong! You're not alone!
I'm heart broken watching your videos... it is an all too familiar emotion that I am seeing in your face. I was born and raised in Winnipeg Manitoba, and we saw what was happening in Fargo and saw it happen in our city as well a few days later.
I live in Ohio now, and I hear many people talking about what's happening there, you are all in many people's thoughts and or prayers... I pray that you are provided the strength you need to endure this trial... hang in there.
Hey went to the Dome all day today and delivered dirt to stranded. It's getting pretty scary. Planning to get up at 6 to go back to the dome at 7am. I think my friend Siri is one of your neighbors...she was evacuated today around 5pm. It's good to see some local footage. I was going to snap a few pics at the Dome but was obviously busy. I feel your tears this is hard. We can do this if we stick together. We dont have school next week so I will be helping clean up to hope to meet ya stay strong
We are so moved by your chronicle. You are so strong and have worked so hard, and if we were less than 100 miles away, we would be there to help you. still a day away. there's still hope. We are thinking about you all and your enormous struggle.
thanks for your personal journal of this historic event. I just read an encouraging article in my local paper (Morris, MN=> 2 hours SE) of folks helping out. You are not alone...
"Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you.."-Psalm 55:22
My Thoughts and Prayers are with you. i live in westren south dakota, and all of these videos show how great folks are in the midwest. everyone helps one another, and puts in a helping hand for the greater good. i would be out there helping if wasent 500 miles away. we are still digging out for the big blizard we had on monday and tuesday.
We have same problem. Keep downstairs cement and not too much stuff. Upstairs keep the good furniture.

The house flooded in 1997? Why is your family choosing to stay so close to a probable flood zone?

Hang in there--my heart goes out to all of you who have fought so hard! I was there in '97, and I wish I could do something to help now.
