i don't mean to offend you but this is very interesting. it just happens and its invoulontary? i don't have what you have but some times i'll catch my leg shaking up and down and i usaly dont even notice. and other times i'll find one of my arm muscles spazing. its looks like it really takes you by suprise. does it hurt when you jerk?
I went to the dr & told him about how I jerk really hard, mainly it only happens when I'm trying to relax. My legs & arms r the highlight of the show but I also jerk in my neck & even stomach. My dr didn't seem 2 know what I meant when I said my stomach jerks, but you did it a few times. He told me I have random limb movement disorder which I've googled & it doesn't seem to line up with what happens 2 me. It's been going on for about 5 yrs now but it started as small twitches back then.
It's so frustrating because I can't control these & the are REALLY hard jerks. Sometimes, my leg or arm will just jerk hard once out of nowhere then like 30 seconds later it'll jerk again like 5 times together in a row. Then it'll b my arm & it's like I'm tryin to dance layin down or something. I've hit myself in the face a few times but this last time was the worst. It left a knot on my cheek. I've also beat on my bf b4 :( I feel so back but he doesn't let it bother him tho :)
I get those sometimes. But usually just one or two jerks and it stops. I would be so annoyed if it happened like yours. At least you have a good attitude. I guess it goes a long way. :3

@seeer77@seeer77 Hello, this is Chloe's mom. I just wanted to note that we did try home remedies such as removing carpet. These may have helped her hay fever, but they had nothing to do with her movement disorder.

you are beautiful, with obviously a lovely attitude about your syndrome. I'm glad to hear you're doing better :) From one epileptic to a semi-epileptic (? haha), I know what those spasms are like.
I have these sorts of jerky Myoclonic leg movements with both legs but mainly the left or right at one time. I have had it for 20 years. My stomach seems to spasm suddenly and this lifts my leg/s up and they drop down again, and it usually lasts for an hour or so.
I have not been to your site, yet so forgive me asking the obvious, are you Epileptic? I am and it stops me working. It stops me working.
Hi, thank you, I'm currently doing much better! I'm sorry you are experiencing myoclonus as well. I do not have epilepsy. The birth defect in my brain that was causing this normally causes epilepsy, but I did every test in the book and they never were able to officially diagnose me with epilepsy. Of course, I never actually had full seizures, just the jerking. I'm sorry you're not able to work; I hope you find help for your condition soon.
@chloew90 I had this start a few years ago, mild stomach and left arm/shoulder, now its just like your video! i sometimes feel like im having a heart attack from it! have you found anything that has brought relief, or makes the symptoms less? now it seems like its constant....with only hour(s) long breaks with no jerking........
@DoooDaddXtC, The best thing, if you can, is to find the cause and address that. For me, it was caused by a birth defect in my brain, and after having surgery to remove it, I'm doing much better. I know it can be hard to find the cause, and I was lucky to find it for me in so short a time. My advice is don't give up, and keep looking for the right doctor. In the mean time, try to find things that make it worse (ex. stress, lack of sleep, caffeine, flashing lights) and try to avoid them.

hello, well I had something slightly different called Sydenham's Chorea. the first time i had it i was 8 years old. I was given a form of medicine used on people with terrets. and ticks. this acutally helped. but mine came back when i turned 12 because my hormones changed. Hormones have a big impact on the neural changes in your body. Differnent medicines help different people. so it might take different medication for you than it would for someone else. Thankfully my chorea left me. =)

I am starting to get these jerks but they aren't as severe as yours. But they are getting more regular. Yes, it started out in my left hand, just very small jerks. But it was never rhythmic, and it didn't get to my right hand until much later. First it spread from my left hand to my left arm, shoulder, then down my side to my leg and so forth. Then, after my entire left side was affected, my right arm started going. But my jerks did get worse when I was tired. Relaxing didn't seem to do anything, but in sleep they were completely gone.
@chloew90 That scares me =/ This has started happening to me maybe once a week. Yesterday it woke me up in my sleep but usually it's when I'm awake. Just small jerks. Do you remember if you had been taking any sort of medicine before hand? Muscle relaxers or otherwise that you think may have been the culprit? These questions are kinda aimed at everyone that has experienced this... I'm a little worried!

Hi hun! I was just curious if one side was more effected. Like I noticed that your left side seemed worse. Is that true? I kinda hav something going on on one side of my body. Thanks!
I have similar tics to that, I have fairly severe Tourette Syndrome. I always wanted to date a girl with a similar problem to myself because then they would know what I was going through. I hope you are ok now.
after several brain surgeries I am taking keppra and trileptal, two medications generally used to treat seizures, and I am doing very well. At the moment I look pretty much normal.
The girl sitting next to me has the same brain condition (cortical dysplasia) and has had similar surgeries, but her movements were quite different, and significantly worse.
yes mine is concentrated on the left side of my body. What you describe as twisting sounds a bit like chorea to me but I'm no expert. Have you seen a doctor about this?
I'm in the process of getting this looked over by a neurologist, but my research suggests the very rare condition of Wilson Disease, less than 100,000 people in the entire world have it. It comes from high copper content of which a specific side of my family have most all the symptoms (heretical). It takes two specific gene defects to come together: I'm the only one in my family with Asian background (where it most likely came from). It does have chorea-diagnosed movements.
Hi! i live in argentina and my mom diagnostic is spinal myoclonus. she was in the hospital for 2 days and had a lumbar puncture and all kind of studies about what she have. The diagnostic is Propio Spinal Myoclonus and she has ato take clonazepan. she was with mioclonias for 17 hours non stop. if you can share with me your experience i will be very grateful with you so i can help my mother. do you know if theres is a center in usa that is the best to care this illness? thank you.
I had a heterotopia nodule in the center of my brain, which is basically a lump of gray brain cells where only white cells should be. The nodule was sort of acting of it's own accord and sending out random signals. It wasn't a tumor or anything, it was a birth defect that didn't act up until I was 17. I had brain surgery to have this removed and I am doing SO MUCH BETTER!

has the girl on left site the same seizure as you, and what is the name of this condition?
monjanse 3 years ago
The girl sitting next to me has the same brain condition (cortical dysplasia) and has had similar surgeries, but her movements were quite different, and significantly worse.

was you born with it?
is it spasms, or cramps?
monjanse 3 years ago
No I wasn't born with it. It just started when I was 17. They were spasms, they didn't hurt at all. Unless I hit my hand against the wall.

OMGOSH, someone else who twitches like me!!! Almost... I twist and wiggle my arms... yours seems to be concentrated on the left side of your body.
ColonelMarksman 3 years ago
yes mine is concentrated on the left side of my body.

No, instead of stimulating the problem area, I had it removed. DBS was an option, but after a lot of testing we decided it wasn't the best option.
chloew90 3 years ago
Did you have DBS done? i had the surgery 4 months ago im doing much better now.
