  • great intro man! love tha vids keep it coming!

  • Looks like a good shooter

  • the loaded chamber indicator kinda insults my intelligence.

  • I noticed on most LC9's that the trigger breaks really close to the end of the trigger guard. Was this true on the one you tested? It seems to break about 1/4 to 3/8 of an inch fron the back of the trigger guard. Was that your experience?

  • Who picks up all your brass? LOL

  • if you were to buy one gun, would it be the lc9, p95 or the sr9c?

  • Great video. I have the lc9 and a g19 as my carry guns. This is an excellent gun. I have put 1500 rounds of ammo that I reload through it with no jams or ftf. I totally trust this gun. Its a no brainer the price is right and it just works. The only thing is getting use to the long trigger pull. But after a few hundred rounds you get use to it.

  • Haha goldy locks size. I didn't realize goldy locks was 6'8 and one of the best shots I've ever seen. Another great vid Hickok

  • if you need an in the waistband right handed holster for an LC9LM try Blackhawk Size 07 universal it fits perfectly.

  • This is the gun I got for my girlfriend. Great great gun. No complaints here.

  • My serial number starts with 321-xxxxx I tell have had no ftf or fte after 400 rounds it has never failed now I can't shoot it as good as hickok45 but I manage to get by.

  • Just got mine yesterday & shot it today. I usually have tight groups but all my rounds are left of where I aim. Any suggestions about why that is happening?

  • @falcondriver100

If you are right-handed, check the position of your trigger finger. With a long pull, like on the LC9, if you are using an area of the finger further back (toward the knuckle) than the fingernail area, you have to apply wrist pressure to pull the trigger. This torques the gun toward the left.

  • @falcondriver100 Try changing the position of your finger on the trigger. Squeeze with the inside of the knuckle rather then the pad of your finger.

  • Ppl still having light hammer marks on this gun? Or did they fix it. Put a down payment on one wondering if i should swap guns for a different 9mm. Let me know thanks

  • Hickok45, thanks! I've been shopping for a carry gun and based on your video I bought an LC9.

You can read blogs and magazine reviews all day about a model and come away thinking it's junk, but a few minutes of watching you blast away and having fun makes it obvious that whatever complaints someone may have about a gun, it still shoots just fine.

  • In regards to the thumb safety, for anyone considering the LC9:

To turn the safety off is much easier than to turn it back on.

The harder activating helps to not accidentally move the safety on in a rush; but it is not hard to turn it off, either. It is not as easy as a 1911-style to activate, but it is still not stiff.

I was handling one today, so I'm not being a armchair warrior.

  • I like the gun, but, is it normal for the finish to rub off so easly? it doesn't effect the operation of the pistol it just that it makes it look a bit cheep.

  • @sky032547 Ive seen vids of people who polished it so it wouldnt look like shit

  • Sorry i found the video

  • Comment removed

  • So tired of verizons shitty service. Nice gun btw.

  • Nice video

  • People always dog ruger but Hicock has reviewed them plenty and doesn't seem to have any problems with them

  • Hello

Today I bought my first semi-auto LC9 & loved shooting it I shot the Hornady Critical Defense ammo. The only thing I did not like is the long trigger pull. I have nothing else to compare it to but do other semi have a long trigger pull like this Ruger LC9? I have carried a S&W model 36 5 shot for over 30 years & thought it was time for something new. i wished I bought the auto sooner.

  • 850 rounds through mine and only 1 FTF. winchester white box 115 gr. Looked at the bulled and the firing pin struck the primer so I'm pretty sure it was the ammos fault, not sure though. Gonna add some rubber talon grips and get a sticky holster for CCW

  • 12:12 listen to ricochet......lol.

  • @BassFIow Yeah you have to trust the reviewer's integrity. In my mind though, even if they do buy some one off or "fix" the guns they send them to be some kind of factory freaked, perfect specimen, it won't pay off in the end.

Initially they might sell more, but as soon as people are having problems word of mouth will spread fast and they'll have some unhappy buyers calling them up.

  • Buyer beware. I just bought an LC9 on 1/5/12. I cleaned the gun to get rid of the cosmoline then took it to the range. I was shooting WWB and Hornady CD. I stopped shooting after 6 mags because there were so many FTEs, at least two per mag. My XD9 had no problems with the ammo. I sent it back to Ruger for repair via the store and I expect it back in a couple of weeks. This is a common occurrence with this gun. Shoulda bought a Glock 26 for my CCW.

  • I hear the trigger pull is a little heavy.. and I understand why as far as CCW pistols go.. they do the same for law enforcement to put in the back of our mind whether not were ready to pull the trigger.. but i've heard some of these compact pistols are ridiculous.. what do you think?

  • two thumps up hickoc love your videos

  • Hickok i was in a store today looking at the lc9 and i feel the same way you do it's almost perfect for a carry weapon, but i was also looking at the Taurus PT 709 and the PT 740,mostly want to stick with 9mm. I was wondering if you have any in put on the Taurus PT 709,as i take whats in your head and use all the time. Hell it's free and very useful,so if you find time please let me know what you think thanks.

  • You sold me! I have been carrying a Diamondback 380. It jammed a lot, plus I'm looking for a more powerful conceal weapon. Thanks, Mitch in Georgetown, Ky.

  • are you able to deactivate the thumb safety as you would a 1911? i have an sr9c and i think its pretty much just as easy as my 1911. That would be kind of a big negative for me as i really prefer to have that style safety, though i might be in the minority.

  • Another "euro look"..Guns these days get uglier and uglier

  • @ChuckaXr I think it is beautiful sir.

  • Great review! Thank you.

  • Which one is stronger? The .380 or the 9mm? I love the way the LC9 looks, but have yet to test fire one. Also, what's the little one?

  • @MulberryMurderMafia The 9mm is the more powerfull round in fact the .380 acp is know as the 9mm short in other countrys. The small gun is the Ruger LCP IN .380.

  • @MulberryMurderMafia .380 is essentially a short 9mm, hence the 9mm would be stronger. On the left is the LCP by Ruger, it fires the .380.

  • The Ruger LC9 is a great looking, great feeling gun, and appears to be about the best bet in the choice of pocket carry guns. Obviously my problems need to be corrected, failure to fire, and defective laser. If one looks at Kel Tec, they look like crap workmanship. If you handle Kahr the slide release and slide snap release sucks. Many guns are to heavy for pocket carry, and cocked guns are a safety issue. regular D/A second strike triggers make safe sense. My laser is in the mail, the gun next

  • The gun manufacturers and any product maker only want the best results and comments about there products. They make a complex close tolerance product, but some, not all fall short at times. Gun brand affectionate defend there brands as if its personal family thing. However You Tube is about information opinions and common sense. Without opinions it would be worthless. Just as some may like Ford? or Chevy? it does not make opposites enemies.Disclosing defects is a public service, not a call 4 war

  • oooohhhh baby! im getting one in a few weeks! got some cash saved up

  • When the gun companies send out test and evaluate gun I guarantee that they will select a near perfect probably test shot a 100 times gun, before they get any bad reviews about there products.

Take Hickok review of the Glock 19 gen 4 provided by Glock. Now Glock made lame excuses that it needed COMBAT AMMO TO WORK. They sent Hickok a gun with #04 spring. they were not stupid. The problem was the original #03 spring, the #04 spring was the answer, not the B/S about combat ammo. My 19 1000 rounds

  • @surfside006, I think it's a conspiracy. Just because you are paranoid, it doesn't mean people are not really out to get you! :-)

  • @hickok45 The reality of business is not about conspiracy its about more business,

marketing is a science, and good PR is important.I Not only had I spoken to Glock a number of times, and was told its a combat ammo gun, there words, and it was designed for 124 grain ammo. If Glock was so right with the #03 spring? why did they change to #04. If guns were only designed for combat, they rarely be fired.

Its not conspiracy its good business. And Glock knows marketing very well.It just is.

  • I just bought mine a week ago. Only got to shoot about 50 rds through it, but it shot flawlessly. I plan on using it for conceal carry. Great video Hickock.

  • Great video and review I just traded in my LCP for the LC9. I felt the LCP was a bit small and wanted something comparible. The LC9 seems to be the one.

  • O AND BTW YOU A BAD MUTHAFUCKA!!

  • I JUST GOT MY LC9 TODAY AND ITS ONE HELL OF A GUN HAS MANY SAFETY FEATURES SO THE KIDS DONT GET IT! TRY IT WITH THE BUILT IN LASER EVEN BETTER

  • I just took mine to the range for the 1st time tonight. Really like it so far. I got a ways to go before I can shoot it like this guy though!

  • Between the LC9 and Glock 26 which one you think is a better gun for conceal carry?

  • Nice review.. Love all of your videos.

  • Sir you should have a tv show.. i enjoy watching your videos. you really know how to talk your head off but its very entertaining. i almost feel like you could be in sales.

  • A Sad commentary, I purchased a Ruger LC9 with Laser Max Center fire Laser sight

Dec 1,2011 for EDC. I went to the range fired 28 rounds and the Laser Max Center fire failed, dimmed to invisible.

Second week, went to the range, and the Ruger LC9 failed to fire twice on the first two trigger pulls, had to rack the slide to reset the trigger again, ejecting shells, Not to reassuring as EDC self defense gun

Laser Failed again,Today I priority mailed it back to Laser Max

    will Send Gun to Ruger

  • @surfside006

Sorry to hear that my friend, I just bought one about 10 days ago and have already put 300 rounds through it. I bought mine very, very gently used. Looked brand new. Mfg in January 2011 and I haven't had a single issue. I promise you though, if you get Ruger on the phone and talk to them, they will happily help you out. Their customer service is 2nd to none. I had a magazine issue, same one Hickok is having and they sent me another no questions asked.

    Best of luck!

  • @surfside006 Let us know how it turns out for you. Best of Luck.

  • @Saigax12 Here is the update, Purchased Dec 1,2011,first range trip, fired 28 rounds,Laser Failed, second trip, failed to fire first two trigger pulls 28 rounds, laser failed.third trip, laser sent back to Laser Max,collected some brass, very light strikes but fired 30 rounds, accuracy was fine, I have semi mastered the trigger pull, with lots of dry fire, snap caps. Saved 7 fired cases with light strikes to send Ruger with the gun.Collected cases from my other guns to compare, they r heavier

  • @surfside006 I see. So you sent the laser back, but not the ruger? And it sounds like you got a "bad egg", not a good specimen. But still, thats enough to be upset about, Im sure you payed good money and were expecting a functional weapon....

  • @Saigax12 Here the situation, when the Gun maker puts on another company laser sight,

you have to send the sight back to the Laser company, and the Gun back to the gun company. The Laser company been promising to send a new sight back Tuesday, Wednesday, still no e-mail that they have done so? I not going to send the gun, until I get the laser back. Nothing cheap, about $500.00 total including taxes, keep my fingers crossed.I shot the Ruger LC9 today, it worked, light fire pin strikes

  • @surfside006 That's just bad business on their part. I wish you the best of luck with your laser sight. Cheers.

  • Def my next piece

  • Nice inexpensive concealed carry weapon.

  • This is a great small gun but i think that i like the diamond back 9mm better. Super small and easily fits in the pocket!

  • i got one great little bellygun

  • Wonder how much lead you would find on his range?

  • How are you loading the ammo into the clips easily? Is it a special clip?

  • try the 147 grain bullets....with the compact pistols they seem to have less crack in your hand and the compact guns walks a a little less

  • Just took a good look at the firearm today and rented it at the range. Loved it..

  • Great review!!!

  • Just bought one and I love it.

  • i carry one of these in my back pocket....if i get mugged i can act like im going for my wallet and BAM

  • great but you now know this was gun of the year right?

  • does the lc9 have plastic slide rails??

  • @mememojo no, aluminium it appears to me.

  • bought my wife one of these today w/ laser cant wait to try it out......looked up a review on google and wouldnt you know it Hickok45 one of my heros already has a reveiw on the weapon

  • @hickok45, Curious what you think of the new Beretta Nano nine compared to the LC9

  • Narrowed it down to the LC9 CW8 and PT709. Thanks for the review. It looks like the LC9 is the carry gun for me. I have small hands and just don't like any bulk to carry. My XD9 SC if nice but a bit too much to carry all the time.

  • @mkstn1400, I had also narrowed it down to three. The PT709, the LC9 and the PF9...After handling and shooting each of those three, I ended up with the Taurus PT709, and I am very happy with that decision :)

  • I HEAR A .40 VERSION IS ON ITS WAY.per gander mtn.

  • 12:11 The Police have arrived for their shooting lessons.

  • This is what Santa is bringing me for Christmas...

  • @oOBlackHandOo LUCKY!!!!!!

  • @oOBlackHandOo that's exactly what santa is bringing me too

  • @oOBlackHandOo sweet santa's bringin me a glock 17

  • @oOBlackHandOo Santa got me one today! :)

  • Wasn't sold until you started ringing that long range gong. That's not gonna happen with the Kel Tec. $399 with laser at Buds...

  • hmm i wonder how well i can hide it in my pocket,

  • Thanks for the review!

  • good vid - think I might get one

  • I wish Ruger wouldn't pit chamber loaded indicators on their guns.

  • hi great review 1 question for you: how far away was the long range target? thanks

  • would the LC9 be ok for a left handed shooter. Would there be a problem of releasing the magazine prematurely

  • @dwteacher I believe so. brotherskeeper11 is a southpaw and he uses the LC9 as his edc weapon. He seems to like the functionality of the firearm. Shoot over to his channel and ask. Hope that helps.

  • Disassembly pin, that's bad design right there.

  • that is a very good safety isue a good many people would still b alive today if the semi auto had always had that feature where it wont fire without a magazine n the gun

  • i think I actually like the lcp better. Sure it's smaller in cartridge size, but more concealable. I mean we are talking self defense means. Close point and shoot.

    Thanks for the review.

  • Just sent in for my cc permit in wisconsin now i think i found my cc gun.

  • I was looking for a nice 9mm for my girlfriend and was seriously considering the SR9C, but when we went to the store we found it was large for her hand - she is small (5ft, 105lbs). The counterperson suggested the LC9. It was a great fit for her, but I wanted to check it out a little more. After watching this I was sold. Thanks for the great vids and information. I really enjoy them.

  • i bought a lc9 about 6 months ago after watching many videos on it, your video many of times but now im having trouble with it. its like the hammer just isnt hitting hard enough to actually fire the round. ive tried a couple different manufactures but still the same problem. im wondering if its because it is my EDC and there is always one ready to go in the chamber, and it is usually half cocked when on me...by any chance have you had this problem or know what it might be?

  • @rdaniels3420 i suggest looking around on google for info i know u might of tried it and im prob not much help but you never know what u could find. :)

  • I just picked up my LC9 today, and I cant wait to take it to the range. I was a little disapointed that it only came with one magazine. Thanks for the video.

  • Picked mine up today and it was sort of stiff at first, but after 100 rounds, it was as smooth as a babies bottom.

  • @hickok45 "Life is good" is a phrase in common usage whose origins predate the hickok45 youtube channel; there would be no intellectual property conflict. There are already countless products (T-shirts, wheel covers, etc.) that bear this phrase. HOWEVER any use of the "life is good" phrase with the hickok45 name or associated images or other phrases would be an intellectual property violation.

  • just bought the lc9 shot 100rds through it with no misfires. very happy with the gun thanks for the review

  • I agree with you that if you carry like I do, you need a lot of practice. However, it becomes very expensive when you have a $15 range fee and $11-13/box (or higher if you want to practice with your carry rounds). Most people can't afford an extra $60-100 a month (every few weeks). The good news is, these guns are designed for 7 yds TOPS, if you are further than that then chances are you can avoid it all together.

  • i just imagine a vixen with big legs putting that small pistol in a league

  • Very nice shooting. Thanks for the video. I'm going to get the LC9.

  • Thanks for the video. I was considering purchasing this weapon and this video helped me with my decision. I appreciate it.

  • I got an LC9 about a month ago as my first carry gun. Love it so far.

Great video as usual, keep up the good work!

  • Can't wait for the trigger mods by Galloway!!!

  • Thank you for another great review. Picked one up and so far I love it.

  • Does it ride on stainless steel rails? Or, are those rails polymer?

  • @Downtoearth316 it is steal, or they also feel like aluminium idk. but it is metal.

  • have you ever had a jacket fly back off the steel shooting FMJ at that close of a range? I'm setting up a range and wondering if it is safe for pistols that close. and what kinda steel is that? I work at a steel plant and have access to alot of steel and have been wondering what would be best to use for pistol target and again for rifle target.

  • Irish, My experiance with swing and flip iron targest are made from std cold-roll 1/4 plate.

After shooting, take the rattle flatBlack can out and spray over your work.

Hickok, has a super range here and does a great vid. Like his demos.

  • You normally shoot reloads, but I noticed you were using Win white box this time. Any particular reason?

  • I just bought this pistol today, brand new...fired exactly 100 rounds through it....had 16 light primer strikes. We believe it to have a weak firing spring. In the morning my smith will change out the spring and we will see what happens...but, brand new out of the box...it failed to fire 16 times out of 100 due to light primer strikes. We were using Remington ammo, which I have never had a problem with in ANY gun.

  • @STALKERSsuck10 I just took mine out for the first time yesterday and used Remington UMC and had one light primer strike. Could be the ammo, maybe. I will finish putting the rest of the box through it to make my own determination.

  • @zsandbox Thanks for your response. I have some news...after closer inspection, we discovered that the Remington UMC that I was using was leaving bits of metal from the primers in the firing pin hole and causing the pin to strike the primers with bits of metal from the primers attached to the pin. It wasnt light primer strikes at all. We cleaned the metal from the primers out of the pin hole, and then shot 100 rnds of PMC Bronze with no malfunctions at all, and no metal left behind.

  • @zsandbox I ran out of room in my first comment. lol I just wanted to let you know that it was definitely the ammo. The PMC left no metal in the firing pin hole, but the Rem. UMC really clogged up the firing pin hole. So it wasnt light primer strikes...it was the UMC ammo. The gun fired flawlessly with the PMC Bronze. I have been using UMC for years in all types of automatic pistols, from pocket pistols to full frame, and never had this problem before. Design of the LC9, or bad batch of ammo?

  • @STALKERSsuck10 shit i just bought some hollows today with my LC9 =[. Hope I dont have any issues like this. maybe ill just go shoot all the rounds and pick up some PMC. thats my norm ammo anyway and what i run in my AR also

  • whats the smaller gun there

  • @unknowsniper14 Ruger lcp

  • @unknowsniper14 it is a .380

  • Thanks for the review. I'm shopping for a concealed carry for my wife. She has the LCP, but hates it. (TOO SMALL). I'll take her to the gun store to try out the LC9.

  • I just got this pistol yesterday and ran it through it's paces. This pistol is outstanding. I am used to DA revolvers cutting my teeth on them. This is a perfect carry when you need a summer or warm weather carry. This compliments my options with either the Kimber Super Carry Pro 45 acp or the LC9. The safety features on this pistol is very similar to my 1911s except for the mag release safety but it is a facsimile to my Ruger Mk iii 22/24. Prices are exceptional now in the 300 USD range.

  • such a nice lil gun. i tool my girlfriend to look at the LCP and she loved it. its a lil small for me but this one is super nice. great video!

  • @hickok45 does the lc9 have a higher recoil the your standard full size 9mm?

  • @hickok45

I will honor your wishes, Sir. Hope I didn't offend you! Love your videos.

  • @hickok45 great video man. Ive been shooting since i was 5 and i look to your vids now before I purchase a new gun. I am a new subscriber to your vids and have been looking at this gun for my fiance. After watching your reviews on glocks I went and purchased a 17 and LOVE it... great job keep them coming

  • 16:29 haha gobble gobble

  • you should go on top shot. seriously.

  • great review but one question that was probably answered in the video that i spaced. is it double action like the LCP? I have shot ruger all my 18 years of life. reliable, rugged, and made in my state. what more can a guy ask for?

  • @PILGRIMuH yes it is

  • A great review as always! I am currently in the market looking for a pocket pistol and have watched almost all of your videos on the different small guns. One thing I would like to know is how well does the gun sit in a pocket? I want something that has a little more power behind it but want to be able to wear it in basketball shorts when biking/running, in dress pants, or jeans and not have it sticking out! Thanks for all the great reviews! Keep up the great work!

  • Great reviews as always man

  • Thanks Hickok, another good one.

  • Thank you for sharing your great knowledge of fire arms and demonstrating the Ruger LC9. I just purchased a new one today and i love it already!!. Awesome gun!!!.

  • Love the gun. I own an LCP with a wallet holster and can carry even in shorts. No way I would buy the LC9 simply because of the loaded anchor indicator sticking out of the top of the gun. Just imagine for a few seconds how many things that could be caught on in your ladies purse. They should sell one without the worthless indicator.

  • Looking to purchase a gun for the first time. I have already learned a lot from your videos. Thank you for these videos!

  • Why does the barrel looks beveled just right before the end?

  • I finally have my review up on my new LC9! So far I'm loving it~with a few exceptions. Keep the reviews coming, Hickok. They're a great help!

  • I love your reviews you do a great job, thanks for the work you do to help guys like me to make an educated decision when making a firearms purchase +1 ...

  • I would love to have one of these little single stackers in 40 s&w or 357 sig.

(crosses fingers) PLEASE RUGER MAKE A 40 CAL VERSIONS OF THIS GUN!

  • I just dont like the fact that you need tools to break down your gun.

  • my mom got one

  • :42 Missed one.

  • Hickok, Beretta has made a gun just for you. A Glock look a like striker fired single stack micro 9mm or 40 cal with no external controls except for a mag release. Designed on a 40 cal frame to withstand the recoil. Due out in October.

  • I just purchased the LC9 and I love it. I love watching hickok45 he is the best. Great reveiws. Very good reveiw of the LC9. hickok45s review on this gun is the reason I bought one. Ruger is the best.

  • I just picked up a Ruger LC9 yesterday and I am really enjoying it. Nice summer time carry pistol instead of my Glock 19. I love this gun, great review!

  • im not much for 9mm, but this gun has been changing my mind. iv been looking at one at a local gun shop and im falling in love with it.

  • Excellent review! I'm torn between the Ruger LCP .380 & the Ruger LC9 for a CCW weapon. I'm only 5'2", 120# so I need a small gun, but wanted the least recoil possible. Any suggestions???

  • i just bought the same bullets

  • Outstanding review! I have been weighing the differences (pros/cons) between the Luger LC9 and the Kimber Solo Carry... thanks to your exceptional review, I've decided on the Ruger. Thanks for your unbiased opinion!

  • thanks for the new subscription i was gettin bored of youtube

also i have a question what is YOUR prefrence on ammo manufactures

  • @watchforfinger He reloads all of his pistol ammo, or most of it. So himself?

  • The Cops @ 12:10 lol

  • I love the size and feel of this gun, but I won't lie, I wish it was as smooth kined and simple as the LCP. So picture the new LC9: DAO, no manual safety, smaller smoother sights, and a slide lock after last round. Thats it. Hey that's just me. Loved the review Hickock.

  • 00:40 seconds into a review, and your already shooting. My kinda review :)

  • good gun for california concealment. thanks for the insights. im sold.

  • Thanks man. Is the trigger heavy enough to carry with 1 in the chamber without engaging the thumb safety? Would you feel safe carrying it that way?

  • wow just pick this up!!

  • Do you think a lazer for LC9 is to follow as did with LCP?

  • Whats the cost of the RugerLC9?

  • I have been away from the gun hobby for years. My first pistol was SW 357. I had since sold the gun. I am now shopping the Ruger products. The LC9 maybe the first medium compact to teach my wife how to shoot. I went to my local dealer and felt the SR9 was more gun than needed. I looked at your SR9c video and than compared to your LC9 video. I like the medium size and accuracy of the LC9. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and use of guns on your video. Have a great day..

  • Good review. I have not considered Rugers for a while, but it have moved up on the list. I have not checked to see if they use metal inserts in the frame slide. I am not sure it would be needed, but it makes me feel better.

  • I just bought an LC9 today and put 500 rounds through it all at one day at the range no problems. :-) I used Federal FMJ

  • Really think the sound was great in this vid!
